NFS Most Wanted tourney announced
EA green-lights competition based on its upcoming racer; first of six tourneys kicks off this weekend.
Electronic Arts today announced that its Need for Speed Most Wanted Blacklist gets under way this Saturday in Houston, Texas. The game is part of a promotion for EA's Need for Speed Most Wanted game, which makes its debut on the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox on November 1. Xbox 360, PSP, DS, PC, and Game Boy Advance versions are also in the works.
The tournament will consist of six regional qualifiers scattered across the country. The first takes place June 11 at Houston's Reliant Center, followed by the Inifineon Raceway in Sonoma, California (July 9), Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinios (August 6), and the Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California (August 27). The remaining two dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Each event will take place at EA-sponsored 2005 Formula Drift Championships.
Participants will compete against one another in the toll booth mode, where they'll have to avoid cops and other obstacles while hitting certain checkpoints. Contestants can register at the game's official Web site. The grand prize winner will attend the Need for Speed Most Wanted launch event in November.
