Microsoft rep says new sci-fi shooter designed specifically for Xbox 360, no plans to port game to computer platform.
Halo 4 is not coming to the PC. A Microsoft representative told The Penny Arcade Report that though the company is seeking new ways to boost the popularity of the series, bringing 343 Industries' new shooter to the PC is not a means to this end.
"Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360, and while we're always exploring new ways to expand the franchise and share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible, we do not currently have any plans to port Halo 4 to PC," a Microsoft representative said.
Microsoft ported Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 to the PC, but all subsequent entries in the series have arrived only for consoles.
Halo 4 launched worldwide today exclusively for Xbox 360. The game is a direct sequel to 2007's Halo 3 and is the first numbered entry in the series developed outside of Bungie Studios. It is the first installment in the Reclaimer Trilogy, which will span Halo 5 and Halo 6.
I'm still playing Halo 2 on pc because it's the best, purest halo experience you can have. No armor unlocks or CoD ranks.
Considering every other Halo game made for PC, believe me when I say this: us PC players don't care.
Yeah the Microsoft Studios Jackasses were all dropped on their head as children. If you are "share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible" Why only sell it ON ONE MEDIA SOURCE! I am sorry but this is stupid business you have a demand supply it. You are not only pissing on your fans but you are also loosing out on money. We are all practically handing you money at your feet and what do you do Microsoft? You just completely ignore it. This is one reason I do not buy a 360 and took my business elsewhere because they do this elitist crap with their crappy console which with the exception of the Wii has the lowest graphics and the highest failure rate out of ANY CONSOLE in the past 2 DECADES!
Buying consoles are a waste of money and time, i reckon its much easier buying a pc and having it for many years that can play any game created by mankind and you wont have to spend hundreds on a console all you do is buy a video card or ram and your set for the next couple of years. Pc also has cheaper game than consoles do and better graphics and more flexibility with games. And yes i want this game on pc but whats the point if there isnt 3 out for pc, microsoft is retarded and always will be end of story.
@Magina1231 There is more to a PC than just cheap ram and a basic video card, dude. I build them. eg. Nvidia GTX690 overclocked video card (what I have) cost over $1200. A good gaming motherboard is around $300-$600 and CPU's over $250 for the latest but not best. These are replaced and upgraded every year if you want Ultra graphics and over 80fps.
Gaming PC's are like car enthusiasts. You never stop upgrading, its a passion. Consoles are point and click, that's why they're popular I'm afraid and why microsoft know where to put they're money. Its not retarded, just good business for billions in profit.
@Scarshi @Magina1231 You're insane if you think you need a $1200 graphics card in order to play games. Sure, you may for the extreme, extreme highest settings, but to even out with a console you can pay less than half that. I'm stull using a GTX 580 and my games are just as good if not better than on my Playstation. Especially for the latest shitty console-ports that are becoming mainstream.
@rann89 True. What you say is very true. I do enjoy the best, as most would. But the best never lasts very long eh? No matter how good it is at the time. :)
@Scarshi I didn't say purchasing X amount was insane. I said thinking you need a $1200 graphics card to play games on a PC able to compare against a console is insane. Can a $1200 graphics card show better than a $400 graphics card? Yes. Can a $400 graphics card still put a console in the trashcan? Yes.
@rann89 My friend smokes over $3000 worth a year (pack a day). I think that is insane.
I play using 3D Vision and have multiple monitors for various games that use the technology so I need the framerate to stay high and stable on very high or ultra graphic settings. Don't judge my purchasing without knowing all the details my friend :)
I build computers to I agree you never stop upgradeing but, there is a period of time you wont need to I have a 7870 Radeon black edition and I play ultra graphics without even overclocking. any upgrades i do be by choice tho they are not needed and wont be for at least a few years
@Scarshi I think people like consoles because they grew up on them like i did but i still enjoy pc more. I know a dozen of random people who have no idea what its like to play on pc cause they are all about consoles. There are very few pc gamers and more console gamers in the world due to this and yes maybe some like to buy 1 thing and enjoy it for a long time. But it pisses me off when people start talking about consoles being better, having more games and better graphics. Consoles arent better they dont have more games and they dont have better graphics.
don't forget about CS:GO. But I will be buying this. Halo has always been in its own league when it comes to FPS.
assassins creed dishonored so many more console games run better on pc look better etc so smh stick to ur 8 year outdated console. Then when u go pay the ridiculous price for new one my pc still be better then
@amaan4ever im gona enjoy Crysis punk, pc has so many better games than console does so dont even start
@amaan4ever oh but we will, you go enjoy mario.
The only good thing about Halo is its multiplayer. PC has Natural Selection 2. We have no need for Halo.
Who cares? I'm still having a whale of a time with Borderlands 2 and with Far Cry 3 and Bioshock Infinite to come, my FPS needs looks to be comfortably covered for the next 6 months at least. The dirty secret Microsoft is trying to conceal is that PC is a superior games platform to consoles and putting Halo 4 on it will reveal its shortcomings as a console-designed game.
just because microsoft people thinks pc gamers download there product for free , so here i want to letting you know(microsoft) that yes you people are right because no one can even want it to release on PC atleast i think so ...
I don't usually play games, but when I do, I play on the PC. I expect great graphics and great gameplay. I will settle for nothing less. Stay thirsty my friends.
@TheOnlyConan Well said mate! I do think that Halo has an amazing storyline but that's about it for me. Oh and i see what you did there ... Meme powa! ;)
That's too bad. I've left Halo when my xbox 360 had 4 Rrods in 6 months. So if microsoft is thinking we're going to buy that crappy console just to play Halo, they're wrong.
@theCCyberDDemon Same here. I was on xbox live for close to 10 years, had been through 3 consoles. When the last one died and they demanded $120 for repair I trashed it and haven't looked back.
Don't care. Played the first one and it did not impress me. also subscribing to GamerMani comment. i will never spend money on consoles, i'm not that bad at games.
I wanted to see Halo 4 on the PC. Guess I will just be playing Planetside 2. Microsoft screws themselves again.
Yes, i like Halo , hell , i've played Halo 1 and 2 on pc .. but from there i dont know what happenend, and hell i will not buy an xbox just for 1 game, not in this life .. sorry Microsoft, but if you use your brain and make a PC version, a good version not a ported one who just is unplayable, you will have my money for this frachise and the money of milions more like me.
I don't see why the fuck Microsoft can't put the damn game on PC. I mean, hell they're practically the forefathers of computer software. Most PC's have the Microsoft name, so its not like they'd be losing money porting it. I bet Microsoft would shit their pants if they saw the sales for the PC version. They should do what From Software did with Dark Souls and put a petition up to see how many people would actually buy it if they did ever do such a thing.
@DarkEntity666 It's done on purpose so that Halo is an Xbox exclusive. Porting it to the PC would make the title seem less special. If you want Halo, you must buy an Xbox - that's MS's strategy in a nutshell.
Not surprising right now, considering Gears and Halo ports to other consoles are becoming rarer and rarer.
I liked the simplicity of games on the 360 when it came out (it just worked, and it held it's own against PCs), but a lot has changed in the last few years. Games on consoles just don't look as good as PC games do now, so I've gone back to PC as my primary platform. I can still use my wireless xbox controller and big screen TV with the PC, and I get better textures, effects, frame rates and physics. Not sure if I'll buy Halo 4 for the 360, or if I'll buy the next xbox. 2 years ago I would have bought it, but it's so overdue now, and with such long console cycles, PC feels like the way to go. Too bad Microsoft isn't supporting it, because lets face it, the xbox is an NT kernel running DX9. Not exactly a hard port to windows, which also runs an NT core and DX9/10/11.
Well you Sirs, have just missed out on $60 from me. I recently went back to PC FPS and will never go back to the mediocrity that is console shooters.I'm not having a stab at consoles, just sayin I'll be taking my hard earned elsewhere.
No plans because they don't own the hardware you play on so they can automatically obligate you into a contract to privately observe you.
@MysteryJ0ker Every PC game runs on Windows and Microsoft owns Windows, but that's not enough for them. They want to completely own the hardware and software. It's a shame that PC's have free multiplayer and (sometimes) free DLC and mods (which are always for free). Otherwise it would have been quite lucrative for Microsoft, even without owning the hardware. It's also a bit sad that we didn't get more than 2 Halo games and one Gears of War, but I've got lots of other games to play and I prefer RPG's to shooters (though I love RPG shooters, such as Deus Ex).
M$ does not build PC's. They build Xbox's and that is where there gaming influence lies.
PC's don't give M$ the control they crave. Xbox works out of the box for them and they don't have to cater to the fools who whinge openly when something doesn't work on their modified rig or hacked/pirated games.
@Scarshi Replying to your second part of the comment.....the fact of the matter is not that it doesnt work but rather they are not designing it to work on the pc. And FYI xbox games are pirated just as much as the pc games....And it seems childish that you think all PC gamers use hacked/pirated games.
I never stated that ALL PC gamers use hacked/pirated games. I don't. Also I said console gamers CAN NOT DOWNLOAD illegal games FROM THEIR CONSOLE. Childish is jumping to conclusions based on what you interprit, not what is written
@Magina1231 Eh, (shrugs). I'm fine with being "as" bad. Whatever that means.
I apologize for even mentioning hacking or pirating at the beginning.
Download whatever you like from wherever you want and justify it any way you feel best.
"stfu"? sorry, guess I didn't. Had to ask my son what that meant.
I'm too old for this obsessive video game macho crap from little boys.
@Scarshi actually your wrong console gamers can be just as bad as pc gamers when it comes with hacked games or pirated. Ever heard of mod-chip for xbox or ps3 it allows you to dl games via torrent and play on consoles so stfu about us downloading games your just as bad.
@Scarshi You realize console games are made on the PC and then ported to the Xbox? It wouldn't be hard to port Halo the PC. It's not done because MS wants to keep it as a selling point for their console.
@BestJinjo Playing a game using Windows is nothing compared with the money they make from their console and its gold membership and advertising.
Porting a game to PC isn't actually that simple really due to security that needs to be implemented as well as the compatibility with hundreds of hardware/software including antivirus companies and firewall requirements to play online as well as server implementations. Microsoft Xbox with their own hardware beats the tens of thousands of computer variations in the world to be compatible with for the sake of a game.
When was the last time you heard of people downloading illegal games FROM their console? I don't love my console but I can see what it represents.
