Nvidia has unveiled the GTX 670, the latest in its line of Kepler-powered GPUs. It launches today in the UK and US at £329 and $399. The GPU features 1344 CUDA Cores, 7 SMX units, four 64-bit memory controllers with 2GB of GDDR5 memory, and a clock speed of 915MHz. Display outputs include two dual-link DVIs, one HDMI port and one DisplayPort connector.
With the GTX 670 being based on the same Kepler architecture as the GTX 680--which launched in March at a price of around £430 ($560)--it has similar features including GPU Boost, FXAA, TXAA, Adaptive VSync, PhysX, and 3D Vision Surround. It also requires two 6-pin PCIe power connectors to run, but has a lower TDP of 141 Watts.
While the GTX 670 has less CUDA cores, SMX units, and a slightly slower clock speed than the GTX 680, Nvidia claims its benchmarks show an average reduction of only 10 frames per second in games such as Battlefield 3, Dirt 3, and Crysis 2.
Several manufactures are offering the GTX 670 for sale at launch, including ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, MSI, and Zotac. For more on Nvidia's Kepler architecture, check out GameSpot's in-depth look at the GTX 680.

People who complain about the prices are just impatient. The key to build a good budget PC is all about patience. For instance I bought a 8800gt when it came out since it received praised from every major review site for its performance which was very close to a 8800GTX, fast forward a couple of years and I saw it selling in newegg at about $75 + additional rebates! So yeah, just keep your eye on the prices and buy a card when you can afford it, always remember you get what you pay for.
£329 ?!?! What a fekkin rip-off (as usual) Current exchange rates suggest that the UK price should be no more than 270 quid in the UK. Disgraceful.

1 Like I don't get it why people always complain "oh it costs too much, it's so expensive...." Pls don't forget these kind of cards don't aim for the average users but for people who want the best gaming experience possible with all eye candy and yes, I'm talking about playing games on a 30" or multi monitors. You can always "max out" any games out there with your cards but at what? 1680x1050 or 720p resolution? This card is well-priced IMO since unlike the previous gen, the 570 doesn't have the same ROPs, memory clock, memory bus width, VRAM like the 580 as the 670 to the 680. So the specs alone and therefore performance comes pretty close to the 680 for $100 less is expensive? You get what you pay for, it doesn't make any sense to get this card if you game at less than 1080p. And pls don't forget competition is always a good thing, the GTX 670 launching at this price will put lot of pressure on AMD to drop the price on its line up. Also with Nvidia as well, you can get such great price for the 580 or 570, which is still consider a powerful card. What else are you asking for?

I don't get why these cards cost so much... I have dual ATI 5770's and they're still killing crysis 2 and bf3 on the highest settings... I think two of those you can get for like $300 dollars now. Just don't like how expensive a single gfx card is.
Looks interesting.I prefer AMD but my son has a GTX460 fsb that performs like a champ, so I'd be willing to check out one of these cards. I just need to figure out where I'm gonna get the $$ from?
The fact that they paper launched the 690 and were over a month late on the crippled GK104 part (the 670) shows how difficult a time Nvidia is having manufacturing these chips.

1 Like @DemannameD In a less insulting way I totally agree... These damn GPU's have so many numbers flying out of them and all the names are completely pointless... it would be nice to have these things compared in a way that everyone can understand.

GTX 260M for the win... I'm in the stone ages! Still plays everything that I've wanted to play though.
The 690 has already "launched," you just can't buy them because Nvidia can't manufacture them. I mean, more than a few handfuls of cards.
Those handfuls are still in stock at places like Amazon, whose retailers have them listed for ridiculous prices of $1500 and up. The absurd pricing is the only reason they're in stock (nobody is stupid enough to buy them for that much).
I've been thinking about upgrading my GPU. I'm currently using a GTX 295. It still runs most games great, though. Obviously it doesn't support DX11. I wonder if the 670 would be a good upgrade. What do you think?
I've been shopping for a new card (Current card is a XFX 9800GTX +). My Wife has a GTX 570 which has been awesome, but I'm thinking of going ATI and getting the 6970 (which is still around $330 USD).
I'm hoping the newer cards bring down the prices of the GTX 570 equivalent cards.
I'd go for a GTX 570 superclocked right now, but I'm wondering if I should hold out for a 2gb card instead?
I hear you. I was thinking of investing in a 6970, and upgrade from my 2 IceQ 6870s, but I kinda want to wait and see . I can play any game @ max settings currently, but I don't know how long I'm gonna be able to do that, so I was thinking of upgrading. It was between the 6950 and 6970, but I was also looking at the 7xxx series. Decisions....decisions.
If you wait a little longer, once Nvidia actually has reasonable supply levels (which will likely be several months), prices may go down a bit. 28nm fabrication is still expensive right now and the lack of availability from Nvidia isn't putting any pressure on AMD, although they did recently lower some of their prices a bit.If you already have two 6870s, then it wouldn't make sense to upgrade to a 6970. Although, in my opinion, it wouldn't make sense buying anything at all right now. If I were you, I'd wait until the 8000-series comes out and drops in price before even thinking about buying a new card.

hmmm. wil Sony put in a version of this GPU in the PS4 ( I said a version of this GPU. not the GPU it self! ) or will it be. what the RUMOR says ( AMD ) GPU?

Sony has already chosen AMD hardware. Nvidia burned some bridges with console manufacturers and are having massive supply problems right now, so there's no possible way any Nvidia hardware is going to find its way into any of the big 3's new consoles.
1. The 570 has 480 CUDA cores.
2. The CUDA cores in the 28nm GK104 parts are completely different than the CUDA cores in the old 40nm Fermi parts.

Fermi and Kepler are the names of physicists. CUDA stands for "Compute Unified Device Architecture."
