PlayStation Vita reportedly hacked

I am for SAFE ORIGINAL gaming as it was intended to be!!!; AS WELL AS a system to open up to home-brew and custom applications becoming available BUT all this at a cost....

Please, people, if this is the near future, support Sony by buying TWO PS Vita's or however many you need so that you can do the following:

- One handheld - for all your ORIGINAL gaming and NETWORK features and OFFICIAL PSN Store access. (no hacking here)

- One handheld - for your custom needs like running HOME-BREW and COMMUNITY made games galore. (hack galore) ...show the power of the system when its in the gamers hands! And NO playing OFFICIAL Sony games on this console!!! ;)

This will give us probably the greatest time of our gamer lives!!! I would buy my games for the untouched PS Vita and play them like normal and most importantly SUPPORT the DEVELOPERS!!! :) ....and when I feel like I want to mess around, i'd grab my hacked Vita to play all the home-brew class games, and apps etc.... ;)

I dont have nothing against Hackers but I prefer used the originals games, but Sony Micorsoft and Nintendo has a battle against them for the video games market and they need to fight against hackers, on my opinion benefits for the members a services like plus with instant free collection are good weapons against them

sony will be pissed off sooner than they expected :)

Also the one thing i find a drastic low sales on the PS VITA is the fact that you can't play movies like you could in the PSP version because of UMD (thats UMD NOT UMB farcorners lol :) ) The PS VITA would (i think) have an increased sales rate if they included the movie UMD with it . Found this very dissapointing :(

If Sony Created a good handheld console , then there would be no need for hacking as the system would be hack proof . That's my opinion .  

I support game console hacking and modding. Since after all we paid for the machine. As far as I know console makers shouldn't tell us what to do and restrict what we do. Instead offer one simple rule I live by. If you hack it or mod it anyway for personal enjoyment. Do so. But do not ruin another persons gaming experience by going online with it or think it is okay to use legit services on it that they provided.

And one of the main reasons why I have so many systems is because of this rule I made for myself. And can only hope others do something similar.

Without modding my PSP I would have missed out on a handful of home brew software and homemade games that would never make it to market. Thanks to the strict rules that companies put against people :/

And just remember if you mod a system. That doesn't give you a free pass to steal another persons hard work.

Well that's lame. Sony needs to get it together and make tougher security seriously. If the vita had a bunch of games I wouldn't care much but there really isn't and this will discourage game companies even further. I don't have a Vita yet, planning on getting one for P4G but I don't want the platform to be a pirating hell by the time i get it.

PS Vita is gonna fail, it is the new N-gage, I had one and it so reminds me of it. So I hope to get a VITA and one good game, cuz that is proably all they can get out of that handheld in a market where ppl want mobile games on IPHONES and DS no SONY.

Seriously? i just got this and then it got hacked? It does'nt even have games. if games starts to pirate developers will be discourage. Even i won't be buying this vita if it got hacked and no more great games to come.

If I didn't care I would say SWEET! But in reality this stuff ruins the system. If they do what they did to the psp to this thing its gonna suck all around for everyone. I want to see them actually make good games for this thing but if developers since the piracy they won't touch the Vita. It's like a rubberband the more the hackers hack the more Sony is gonna be A-Holes about their products. It is only healthy for real gamers that this thing is not hacked like crazy.

Ok, simple story. PSP didn't sell that good because there weren't a lot of good titles available (ead AAA titles like Uncharted). They had a few, but none that would draw a lot of people to the system, Why weren't there good games? Because the PSP got hacked and people could download and play PSP games illegally and for free. See what piracy does? Also selling a system doesn't give them profit, it's the software.

this was inevitable, there is no device that cannot be hacked by someone with enough talent but will the average user be able to do it is the real question. The PSP suffered because it was simple to hack and to pirate games but that may not be the case with the Vita.  Also, if you hack your system, you'll have to give up all of the online functions like multiplayer, chat, trophies, etc.

Anyone that thinks this is for pirating games needs to read a little, usermode does not equal kernal. I doubt this would've even happened if Sony would've allowed full hardware access with PSM.

So 73.9 PSP units sold is considered low in Sony's standard?

Sony specifically SCEA killed the PSP in the US while it's still very much alive and better than Vita in Japan. See the difference? It's not because of piracy because DS was also piratable yet you see games in the US.So like I said, see the difference?Anyway people may deny it but piracy might help adding up additional sales of Vita.

I am not for having the ability to play pirated games on any console, but I wouldn't mind having an open OS so that developers can make sick homebrew. However that is a double edged sword as that will allow many people to exploit that feature to play pirated games.

Bottom line is if you want to create software/apps/games for a pc all you need to do is know how to code. On console you can't do that. Imagine if anyone could write code and put it on console like a PC. Think of all the cool stuff you could do. That is why Linux is such a great OS because as people code for it they then implement those features if they are good.  Personally I want to see user made apps/games made available on consoles. I am not saying pirating is good and I am not for that, but allowing anyone to create a game/app and then you being able to download it and run it for free would be awesome. I can only imagine the potential this handheld would have if community ran software was supported.

Solution: Make Vita open to homebrew! I can tell they already don't like the alternative...

please explain how hacking the original PSP caused it to sell poorly? I could see it affecting game sales, as who would need to buy a game if the could pirate it for free, but the article clearly states hacking the PSP "result[ed] in low sales of the device". the PSP sold poorly because it wasn't very good. The DS got hacked too, and it sold very well. My wife and I bought two a piece (2 DS lites, a DSi and a DSi XL... but only because our DS lites broke through CONSTANT USE). I loved the PS2, but Sony has done nothing innovative for me to be interested in their current stable of hardware.

LOL. People see this article and forget that Sony already has the PS Suite thing for developers and homebrew. They are doing it, there is nonreason to hack it. Doing it will only be for negative purposes (piracy).

This meakes me wanna get a vita , it will stop being a limited brick , and it´ll became a true gaming device (see? this actually will make the sales grow!!)

psp got a pretty big boost in sales after it was hacked, only games suffered. but that would be problem if it had any good games.

Thus, a new special PS Vita hacker is born......oh wait, almost all digital device can be hack. My bad ;p

I'm ok with homebrew. I hope somebody makes my dream come true and makes a Dreamcast emulator for the Vita!

It makes absolutely no sense that psp sales would drop due to it being hacked.I actually only bought one after I found out it could be hacked but I only used it for the emulaters etc...I actually bought Every psp game I owned and then my psp broke and I got a psp go for which I re-bought the same games over gain without caring until one day Squre enix decides not to release kingdom hearts bbs on the ps network.After that I wasnt about to buy awhole new psp just to play that game so I used the iso loader.I suppose to counter I couldve also bought the psp umd game as to still have given them my money but I was mad...lol

The PSP being hacked caused low sales numbers? Somehow the fact that it sucked didn't have any effect. This hack almost makes a Vita desirable.

Sony says the Vita doesn't need a revision. Hold on, what about; finger print magnetic surface, no video output, speakers are way too quiet, screen light reflection, flimsy accessory port/game slot covers, stiff feeling L+R triggers, gray plastic edging cracks easily and the fact that the speakers are often covered while using the analog sticks?

System hacking always makes me wonder if the company have already built the whole thing aware of possible exploits or is totally clueless from the start. It doesn't look like is something they can simply avoid either way...
