Shoppers opt for pricier Wii U premium pack over basic in UK; Nintendo Land highest Wii U software chart entry at 11, Far Cry 3 debuts at two.
The 32GB premium Wii U pack accounted for 60 percent of sales following the launch of Nintendo's latest console in the UK last week. A further 30 percent of sales went to the Zombi U Pack, while only 10 percent of shoppers opted for the 8GB basic edition.
On the software side, the premium pack's bundled Nintendo Land was the highest Wii U entry in the UK chart at number 11. New Super Mario Bros. U entered at 14, while Ubisoft's survival horror game Zombi U only managed to enter at 17.
Ubisoft had more success with its critically acclaimed open-world shooter Far Cry 3, which debuted at number 2, making it the ninth biggest launch of 2012 following last week's Hitman Absolution. Call Of Duty: Black Ops II held onto the number one spot for a third week.
Elsewhere in the chart Hitman Absolution saw a 51 percent drop in sales, falling from two to four. Assassin's Creed III fell one place to number five, while Just Dance 4 had a 48 percent boost in sales, moving up one place to number six.
LEGO The Lord of the Rings fell one place to number seven, Halo 4 dropped three places to number eight, and Skylanders Giants fell from eight to nine. Need For Speed: Most Wanted fell one place to number 10, despite a 28 percent increase in sales.

I got the premium with Nintendo Land for ± ? 320 and bought Super Mario Wii-U great fun. In a couple of months they bringing out two patches to speed up loading games and apps. But yes still playing Metroid Prime Trillogy through the Wii-menu. The system needs more core games.
1 Like I really don't think Wii was a mistake, I like alot of games from the Wii console.
And I think Wii U will be even better. Nintendo has games that are nonlike the other consoles.
I like PS3 and Xbox 360 aswell. But I have more fun playing on me Wii,
i was selling my wii u yesterday... after i read an articel about all hot games are coming 2013. not one game that interests me is coming on wii u... ... ... wii u will be the same mistake like the wii (and i owned it too). nearly every game what is really cool --- you can play better on an other system (except mario, zelda.. i will rent a console everytime when these titles will be released)

@NkoSekirei you can already hook a usb external hard drive but any how , i dont see memory being a problem cause like i pointed out one can buy an external usb hard drive for it or sd cards up to 32 gigs , unlike xbox360 the wii u is much more like ps3 in terms of quality and consumer value - in fact it uses similar disc space disc , so thats another plus for wii u , for people who are concerned with it ,

At the rate they're going with the mandatory updates, the 8gb owners will have to trade in for bigger hardware.
@TrueProphecy22 not quite theres a new hard drive coming out for the wii u and it carrys 320gb extra memory which im getting for my deluxe so i can store a whole lot of games on it
And its' free? WOW Nintendo is GRRRREAT!!!! You shouldn't have to buy a bigger HDD for the OS.
mariokart64fan. obvious- obvious. The new Wii U hardware is at par with 7 year old XBOX 360. You see nothing wrong with that? You can see the Wii U being around as long as the XBOX 360? For 7+ years?
@megakick @mariokart64fan no dude wii u is 80 to 100 percent more powerful then the current gen consoles even the the third party developers have said it themselves and besides they havent tapped the full power fo the system wait till next year thats wen well get some series game running on 1080p resolutions and realistic graphics
@tommynj @megakick @mariokart64fan Tell that to PC users. We get crappy ports on a constant basis and graphics constantly lag behind due to developers developing for consoles, which stay weak for 7 years and don't even catch up to current PCs when new ones come out due to the price point of graphics cards. Technology waits for console users.
I hope so The 8gb Wii U is as attractive as the 2gb XBOX 360. Doesn't help that the Wii U OS is 5GB+. Wii U has a lot of limitations that I can't overlook.
Who cares about U.K. sales figures? It's an insignificant market on its own. I'm really not sure why GameSpot is highlighting the U.K. exclusively when the console launched in the rest of Europe on the November 30th too..not just the U.K.
I swear, Europeans do themselves a huge disservice by releasing separate sales figures.
I'm an American, and in my terms that would be as if I single out "Great Wii U sales.. in the Alabama game market (Yeaa!)". My point is we need to see total European Union region sales in order to get a more clear picture of how the the launch went, not just one small country.
I hope Nintendo learned is lesson after these barbaric sales and sens reggie-fil-a packing. Maybe Jimmy Fallon will take him in.
by next year, i expect the premium pack to replace the basic pack so 299usd and be available in white.

Well maybe its because the so-called 'entry-level' WiiU price is not that much lower than the premium packs - and who wants an 8gb machine? .
Its like the same with the new 'basic' PS3 super slim - having no HDD space on a modern console is ridiculous - especially PS3 considering all those software updates I get first time I play nearly every new game.
1 Like @digi-demon I actually found the price of the 500gb PS3 console quite extortionate, I bought myself the 12gb then opted to add my own hard drive, saving me about 50 pounds.
yeah! far cry 3 deserves to among the big games of the year!ubisoft scored a number of hits this year with their various titles!looking ahead to seeing watchdogs!
I can only assume that the value was returned and justified in the software and that this somehow made good sense, because the extra onboard memory certainly isn't necessary unless the new games promise to eat up GB of hard drive space...But that just simply wouldn't make sense, not when the basic pack only sported 8 GB.

That's kind of a no brainer. I mean you spend an extra 50 dollars for more memory and a game packed in and I really hope Nintendo continues this practice of packing a game with the console at launch. I hated it when consoles stopped doing that or waited until a few years down the line when they had surpluses of games they wanted to get rid of.
1 Like Thank goodness I was able to get my WiiU into my entertainment centre alongside my other consoles...the black is dead sexy but could be the absolute worst finish for fingerprints since the Phat PS3. I don't know how long the basic WiiU sku will be around...I would expect an announcement by the spring saying it's gone bye bye...the 32GB model will become the norm without Nintendoland packed in...and I would expect them to offer the customer a choice of white or black.
@BonoBoy I know, it seems like nobody gives a crap about the white wii u LOL. The console and gamepad are fingerprint and dust magnets though. :/ They look so sexy at first, but after a week of use.. your gamepad will look ugly all fingerprinted up :(
I actually wanted the white one but had to get the deluxe. I have a microfiber cloth (which I keep with my 3DS) so I constantly wipe off the finger prints after use.
