Lewpy79: You really haven't played Tekken, if they changed the core of the game it wouldn't be Tekken anymore and still each Tekken game that comes out has been EXTREMELY DIFFERENT. Plus no matter how you look at it is still quite affordable.
Sony's online store updated with Capcom's puzzle fighter and add-on for Namco Bandai's brawler; demos for Tiger Woods 08, NASCAR 08, and All-Pro Football 2K8.
Earlier this week on the PlayStation Network, Sony released from its cage Incognito's online-focused action game Warhawk, which was met with solid reviews. Bolstering that release schedule, Sony has updated the PSN with a bevy of new content as part of its weekly update.
In June, Namco Bandai revealed that it would be adding an online battle mode to the PlayStation 3 version of its precision-based fighter Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Today, the Japanese publisher revealed that the online update is now available for purchase through the PlayStation Network. In addition to online multiplayer matches and rankings, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online adds practice and survival single-player modes. For those who already own Dark Resurrection, the update will cost $9.99. The full version of the game now runs for $29.99 and is rated T for Teen.
Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix also lands on the PSN this week. A redux of the arcade original, SPFIITHDR remasters the gem-busting puzzle game with new visual effects for the gem icons and backgrounds. It also updates the game's graphics to support 1080p output. Players can spar against the CPU in single-player mode or drop gems online in ranked and friendly matches. The game also features worldwide rankings and leaderboards. SPFIITHDR is downloadable for $9.99 and is rated E for Everyone.
For cash-conscious gamers, and those who just like free stuff, Sony has also added a number of demos to the PSN this week. Sports fans looking to try before they buy will be happy to know that samples for EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 and NASCAR 08, as well as 2K Sports' All-Pro Football 2K8, are all available for download. Rounding out this week's free updates are two Heavenly Sword videos, trailers for Game Republic's Folklore and Codemasters' Clive Barker's Jericho, and movie trailers for Beowulf and Bee Movie.
madterps: Ooh it was in the arcade first...blah blah. Yes I know it was in the arcade first, but do you think that is the version they put on PSN?? Come on at least sound like your educated. And can you kindly highlight at which point in my last comment do I bash "the game"?I wouldn't say they games are totally different either, I think you'll find pretty much every character from the first game makes an appearance in the 5th..uh I mean 7th version. Kazuya still has the same ten hit combo he had from the first game, yes the timing to the moves may be different but the basic structure that makes a Tekken game are still there...face buttons assigned to each limb, LP-LK, RP-RK throws, ten string combos, unblockable charge moves... I could go on but I won't for the sake of others reading this. I haven't got a problem with the game, in fact it's probably one of my favorite beat-em up's (the greatest being the Streetfighter franchise of course...SF Alpha 2 if your asking :P), it's the way Namco are going about this whole selling features that should have been included in the first place. I'm simply highlighting the blatant rip-off that Namco are getting away with. If fanboys are quite happy to blindly accept whatever scraps a software company throw out and have nothing to say about it then I feel sorry for you...which brings me onto PSdual _weilder... in fact I have nothing to say to you. Peace!
Lewpy79: It was in the arcade first then it came out for the PSP. When you bash a game, at least sound like you're educated. BTW, Tekken 1 is totally different than Tekken 5 DR. DR has subtle differences than Tekken 5, like new moves. You might want to play the game before you talk.
Tekken 5 DR Online is finally available, been waiting for this for like a month. Woot! Time to destroy people with Wang....
Warfust: "This "micro payment" thing is more of a "pay more so we can finish the game" thing." It's worse than that, it was originally a port from the PSP version, most of the work was already done! I reckon it went like this...- Quickly get this on PSN so everyone forgets our comment about Tekken 6 being a release game. - But what about the online feature? - What about it? Virtua Fighter 5's not online, it's not like any PS3 owner is going to miss it. We'll just give them a stripped down version until we can be bothered to implement some other features. - What? Even Practice Mode and Survival Mode?? Won't the public be a little annoyed having to pay extra for the 'privaledge' of playing online? - Nah, Activision are making a mint on those Guitar Hero II track packs. Make it seem like we're doing THEM a favour by releasing content that we've already coded! It's genius, we put it online, keep quiet and watch the money pile in. Yeah sure we'll get a couple of people moan about it...but it's Tekken those mugs have already bought 7 different versions of the same game! Like taking candy from a baby....Muhahaha
Great news for Sony PS3 owners.Tekken online sounds pretty sweet.I purchased Puzzle Fighter on my 360,and I must say it is an awesome game. You PS3 owners should really get that game,as it is a lot of fun to play.Seems like it was nice week overall for the PSN store.Keep that train moving Sony!
I tried playing a game onlin on Tekken, but people seem to always get disconnected or something. Didnt get to play a single game, all I got was "[Enter name here] has left the room."
I was waiting for this awesome update from ages the time I started playing tekken on my PS1 I wished if I could play this with some other folks in the world and now my dream is true with tekken 5 addictive addictive addictive no other words for this master piece Its downloading on my PS3 now .................. cant wait
like staley6565 says... u need a full HD to view the whole splendor of the store... I like a lot the PSN... but the XBL is in the same menu and the browser of the PSN is a little slow... anyway the online mode is an add-on.. with practice, survival and a dedicated online mode... and don't forget the original game was only 20... now in total is 30... for a tekken game with online mode... what better than that? they are trying to make more money of it.. is not like u payed 60 for the game... so...
"Man, Is the Sony store really ugly and hard to navigate to anyone else?" What resolution is your PS3 running at? I used to hate it too until I went 1080p, and now when you open it up all the new stuff is right there, and a list of the most popular stuff is fit on the side
$10 for something that should have been there from the start. I just LOVE the way the "hardcore" gaming platforms are headed. This "micro payment" thing is more of a "pay more so we can finish the game" thing.
yeah i think simultanious releases for XBL and PSN would be pretty sweet. also id love cross platform battles and stuff
im done with tekken5. I'm not going to bother downloading that update cause i want it tekken 6 to come out and this is a waste of time. Anyways puzzle fighter ftw. most of those demos are old(360wise) except for ncaa. The ncaa is better than the nfl games
For a minute it felt like I had XBL. A great online game (Warhawk), four demos, online expansion for Tekken, game and movie trailers, wallpapers, and SPFIITHDR was only 52MB. Now only if this happened more frequently with simultaneous demo releases on XBL and PSN.
I am surprised they are charging for Tekken DR online mode but I guess it is worth it, adds a lot of value in my opinion.
Tekken DR is pretty sweet. I've been meaning to pick that up, if I can pull myself away from Bioshock for a moment, anyway.
Nice to see the increase in demos avaliable on PSN. Heres hoping the rumours of a Killzone multiplayer beta by this fall are true but my mates usually chat rubbish anyway.
I liked the super-deformed characters on Puzzle Fighter (I will buy the full eventually), not much into war games or Warhawk, but I do like the wallpaper though. :)
Capcom really knows how to advertise. i played the demo of Super Puzzle 2 and the isntant i beat it i went out and bought it. omg this game is SOOO much fun, ive never had so much fun playing a puzzle game since bust a move on SNES.
this new tekken update kicks booty, me and three of my friends have been playing online most of the night, and it plays just as good as it does when we would have tekken matches at each others houses. Sony effin ROCKS!!!
@HALOISTHEBEST26 The truth is you're just trying to start crap, you know damn well the online play is still free no one lied to you. Of course you know, you do have a ps3 afterall eh? If you read and paid attention then you'd see the Tekken 5 DR PATCH costs 10 bucks, but I'm not about to reiterate all the things it adds when you can easily just look up and rtfm next time.
God it has freaking started already. I JUST started getting into Warhawk now Tekken Online is finally out so now I have to get that as well. And unfortunately Puzzle Fighter has taken a backseat to the other two. As much as I want it, I just won't play it as much.
puzzle fighter it is a day late, and the xbox 360 version is better I already bought it. Ps3 version pointless. No PSN sale. Tekken online I might as well buy My ps3 only has 3 games I thought was worth buying., lemmings ninja gaiden, and resistance whoo those got dull quick. I beat ninja gaiden on xbox 3 years ago. Now my PS3 can play old tekken 5 while it does medical stuff whoooo this day will go down in history.
Tekken 5 online sounds sweet, but I just hope there aren't any lag times mid-game or it'll turn into a disaster.
Puzzle fighter is awesome though due to my suck y tv, i'm having a hard time reading some of the text.
