If RE - Outbreak are going to be re-released with online play with better graphics and more scenario I definitely will buy any console the game will be in. Because I miss that game so much!
Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi says Capcom not working on remake of 1998 action game currently, but if fans call for it, project may be considered; PC version announcements coming soon.
Capcom's 1998 survival horror game Resident Evil 2 could have new life some day. Speaking to GameSpot today as part of a video question-and-answer session, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed the studio is not working on a remake at the moment, but the door is open in the future.
"Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now," Hirabayashi said. "But if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration."
Resident Evil 6 is the next entry in the series, and is due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 2, well ahead of its originally planned November 20 launch. A Wii U version is not in the works, and development on the PC version only just began.
Speaking to this, Hirabayashi said gamers can expect additional news regarding the PC version of Resident Evil 6 in near future, but not until the console versions ship next week. No further information was divulged.
Resident Evil has really taken a turn for the worst. Newest game was said to be buggy. RE is about being a nightmare, but they've taken an action-oriented route to bring in new fans, watering down the nightmare element. You can do this to a degree, but if the story sucks overall it just won't work out.
I think they should go back to the basics on this one. Or just leave RE alone, because now it's not pleasing anybody.
Resident Evil 2 remake or EXTENDED story or continuing ...what ever you want ....JUST LET US PLAY RE2 AGAIN....BACK OLD GOOD DAYS OF GAMES
I really hope they do this. The remake of the original Resident Evil is by far my favorite in the series. Would be amazing to have a remake of 2.
The real issue with Resident Evil is the loss of the survival horror aspect. Even the upcoming Revelations port doesn't look too scary. Hard to be scared of much when you're mowing zombies down with a machine gun.
Dead Space kind of swooped in and redefined the survival horror genre. If Capcom is going to keep up they're gonna have to put some real work in.
i miss the old RE style, i really want to play a RE 2 remake but afraid of what they might do to it, it was an amazing game. RE 1's remake on the gamecube was a masterpiece if they will do it the same way then go ahead, however not like RE6
"We'll make it if fans call for it." Capcom, pull your head out of your ass.
? There are online petitions still running from the mid 2000's calling for sequels and re-releases of games, including Resident Evil Outbreak File 3 or at least a re-release of 1 and 2 for the next-gen consoles. Its petition has 9,000 signatures; that's fan passion right there, it's enough to merit response, consideration or at least notice, and it means more than just money.
? A re-release of some of these games otherwise unavailable now on current platforms, would appease these fans, and they'd probably even be willing to support you in other ways. With Outbreak for example, you could update it with downloadable content, which I know the pretty regular players would pay for. Give a little, get some back. But, you stripped the online play from the original games, so people have no way of even playing the games online anymore. You abandoned it, and some of your most important customers in the process.
? The RE1 remake was on the GameCube alone and hasn't been ported to anything else. Why? Next-Gen consoles offer a new social element that people want. It offers convenience, and the ability to take advantage of achievements/trophy systems, etc. Despite your reputation decline, doing these small justices to the fans that care about the series, would but at least redeem some of your worst decisions.
? How do we know a remake of RE2 won't just be like your 5 and 6? Do we trust you anymore? Who're you selling Resident Evil to? The fans who helped you build your company, or someone else? If an RE2 remake turned out like your RE1 remake, I'd say you just might be back on track. But aren't some of your best creative forces behind the series, gone now? Isn't that why the RE games suck lately?
? You let some of Hollywood's worst make your franchise into a movie--a terrible quadrilogy, for a quick buck. Now you can't decide what to do to fix the franchise because you've lost the desire to make a quality game... it seems.
? It's greedy, Capcom. You want to change the game into Call of Duty (which series sucks), to attract the masses, and to be #1 again. But you can't do that through this brute force and butchering of your should-be cherished golden goose and beloved franchise. You need to go back to the roots, regain lost fans and start fixing mistakes.
? The first step would be to examine the oversights. You don't need to be #1 on the sales chart.. you were #1 in everyones' hearts for the longest time, without it being all about money. So do it again.
@as79s-R I believe Capcom is still listening. On the Capcom Unity, Christian Svensson, the co-producer for Capcom, responds to a lot of RE fans; he did confirm that there are people among the Capcom staff that support the ideals that the Outbreak petition calls out for. Even if this is just a spoken word of a possibly hopeless promise, it is still better than the past for the same fans. For almost ten years, they have demanded that the game goes back online. I have faith that if those fans actually let up, Capcom will return the favor. There are not very many other producers out there in the gaming industry that listen to fans; Capcom is trying its best. Unfortunately, they have attracted an infant fanbase to the franchise when they made RE4-6. While I personally never had an issue with 4 and haven't played 5, 6, or ORC, I still have concerns that Capcom has sort of derailed itself. I'm not saying that Capcom doesn't care about their fans. In fact, I'm saying the opposite; Capcom cares too much about their fans. And their fans are split pretty solidly.
On the pessimistic side, the proposal to "listen to the fans" is them realizing that their goals with RE6 have failed because of their negligence of the entire fanbase. In other words, Capcom is keeling over to the fans because they've gone bankrupt by the economic failure of RE6. So now they need to earn some money from small projects so that they can earn enough money to make the next big game again. Even given this, however, I believe Capcom has a valuable lesson to learn: they should listen to the fans and make realistic goals given their information on the fans. With that, I really hope they don't cater to the action-shooter path in the franchise, because the last thing that makes RE unique for me is the Survival-Horror aspect of the game, which just doesn't exist anymore. I guess that's why I've decided not to buy RE6 until the price has lowered significantly (people like me are the reason Capcom's goals have failed).
Just don't pull the same shit you did with RE4 and Code Veronica X: I mean bad and lazy remasterization with a steep price.
will i can explain this retardation only in 2 way
1st (more likely) communism runs in their blood and they ask retarded questions
2nd capcom has no much money spend so they have to make sure on what they gonna spend because cmon we all know re series ruined after re 4 so hope they re-nourish the game and buff it up
We're supporting it since the release of RE 1 remake. For 10 years!!! Capcom you ungrateful sons of a bitches...
It would be amazing if they remade RE 2 just like they did with RE 1 on GCN, they should make it just like that with a bigger station, updated graphics, better puzzles and please for the love of god no co-op. As much as I enjoy playing RE 5 & 6 co-op, it's never going to be the true horror or as scary as if you're by yourself. I would like the old camera angles too but if Capcom for some reason can't pull it off then maybe they could do what was done SH: Downpour by putting the camera behind the character but also having certain areas with set camera angles, a game can still be scary that way due to the "alone" factor
make it already damn it! i want old style back and see willam birkin and mr x on modern graphics hehe
Capcom please, yes we ask for it,we want to see all of our awesome RE masterpieces in HD. I Just went through RE remake on gamecube and now Im playing RE:0 and those are seriously some of the most beautiful games ever created. I WANT to play the 2nd and third but right now theyre just not appealing..Ive been through them as a kid and I would GLADLY pay 60$ for a HD remake of both of them, even code Veronica I would love. RE6 is not a resident evil game and youve completely lost me. I hated the 4th, I ''appreciated'' the 5th in co-op with a friend even if it was far from what RE used to be. I WANT a beautiful remake of the old awesome scary RE games that offer challenge, puzzles, discovery. I SWEAR if I ever hear of a remake of the 2nd and 3rd I will be soooooo happy
I think there are many fans like me who would like a remake of resi 2 like they did with resident evil 1 on gamecube with more puzzles and a bigger police station. For me Leon is the best character in the game just look at resi 6 Leons chapter is the best one and resi 4 is a masterpiece
It'd be pretty cool if they did a remake of 2 similar to the GC REmake. I don't know what would be cool to add though. Perhaps making the Police Station bigger somehow like they did with the mansion, and new puzzles.
No. Don't remake Resident Evil 2. I don't want memories of it to be slamming B repeatedly and mowing down zombies with unlimited ammo.
@rann89 you sure you aint talking about RE6 ???? RE2 is one of the greatest of the serie and if you dont like it dont play it, but the 2nd and 3rd DO need and deserve a great overhaul in graphics then they would be a breath of fresh air and even be innovation compared to the generic garbage released nowadays
@GamerOuTLaWz I'm saying Resident Evil 2 was good and that the way they're doing Resident Evil games now, I don't want them to butcher Resident Evil 2. I'd rather remember Resident Evil 2 the way it was than it being Resident Evil 2 with linear maps, awkwardly-timed cut-scenes, and that stupid button-mashing that pops up every 5 minutes.
I never understand comments like this. Resident Evil 2 isn't going to suddenly disappear if they do remake it, the old game will still exist. A remake (presumably done in the style of the GCN Resident Evil, which is what I infer from this statement) would introduce one of the classics of the PSX/N64 era to a whole new generation of players, players who have never played anything like it which would hopefully show Capcom just how beloved the older style of Resident Evil is instead of the Westernized action style Capcom seems to think every single person in the world prefers.
Make mr.x and his super tyrant form super, just like he wa sin darkside chronicles but stronger. Hes the strongest being in the whole resident evil universe.
ps re4 was the start of what you see these days god damit stop it re4 was the start of the destruction
@oldshool man,I juste HATE those who say RE4 is the best or a masterpiece causey oure right,RE4 is where resident evil started to fall off, where this serie turned into action and lost all of its exploration, challenge, puzzles, horror
@GamerOuTLaWz Nah come on, RE4 IS a masterpiece, it's one of the best games ever made. True it where the action elements became more overt but the action started creeping in with Resident Evil 2 (there's much, much more ammunition in RE2 than RE1, you can kill everything in the game and still have enough ammo to kill them again left over and it only got worse in Nemesis where you can make your own damn ammo). RE4 was the last game where there was any balance at all, RE5 is where the series truly left it's roots behind where shooting enemies became the only real element of the game, at least in 4 you still had to be careful about how much ammo you used.
resident evil 2 remake yes yes yes on one contition the remake to be exacly as the resident evil 1 remake. same story more places to explore almost same but different riddles one more extra fight with birkin (thumps up if youre agrre that birkin was the best bow) resident evil must return as a horror game again and bury in the past 4-5-6 sory for my bad English
Remake RE 1-3 already!!!!!!!! Let me know when I can purchase them!!! The Xbox already has Code Veronica X, RE 4, RE 5, and RE 6 so why not remake the first 3? Just think Capcom could make the money back (and then some) from the money they wasted/lost on ORC!!!!!!! PLEEEEEEASE CAPCOM DON'T TEASE US JUST DO IT!
Now a Resident Evil 2 (and even 3) remake I'm 100% all for. I'll purchase both on day one if the quality of the remakes can mirror that of the original REmake. I still have that, RE Zero, and RE 4 for Gamecube.
A cool add-on would be little online co-op accessible side stories (like the Hunk/Tofu ones in the original RE2) that were based on a scoring system that could be ranked online. How many shots fired, damage taken, time to complete, and objective efficiency. Little extras here and there along with the core remade game and I'm all in.
Yeah. Stop creating new RE action bullshit games for damn Call of Duty fans. Remake the old ones that we old hardcore and real RE fans will be happy.
I would rather play old Resident Evil remakes (and i play them a lot), than this modern action, button tapping, fly a plain or drive motorcycle s...!! Give us some darker game like RE was in its roots with RE, RE2 and RE3 Nemesis... I would much appreciate to see this two games in Game Cube style remake (like RE remake and RE Zero)! And please stop making horror games with story's in the middle of Africa on 40 celsius!!
Please remake the game. I would buy it in a heartbeat capcom. I am sure many others would too. Loyal fan since RE1 on the original Playstation. God bless.
please resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 too , both need to new remake version , but pleaseeeee don't mess it up like 5, 4, and operation racoon city ..remember its horror survival game . not shooting ..
They should definitely consider making a remake, the 2nd is my favorite out of the res series F-n loved the hell outta that game.. It would be a great achievement on capcom's part. I would support this.
I think Capcom should feel obligated to make a re-make of RE 2 following the release of RE 6 . I also believe through the creation of that re-release the company may have a chance to really get an understanding of what made everyone fall in love with the series in the first place. I would even be satisfied if we went back to the days of RE 4.
Alright I made an account just to comment on this. I definitely think you have the support by a looong shot. I would absolutely LOVE to see a RE 2 (and 3) remake. I'm sure a lot of us will for sure. But I have to agree with some of the comments below, it has to be a full remake like the original RE for Gamecube, but in this case Xbox 360 and PS3. Praying for this..
Well Capcom u got the support. Lets do it I am quite sure a lot of other people would love to see it so lets see it. Get busy I would love it hell remake all 3 while your at it!
If they mean a remake like Resident Evil for GameCube, then yeah! Otherwise, if it's an "HD" remake like them many titles HD-fied as of lately... don't bother.
This is amazing. Capcom is so full of BS lately. If we call for it, it will be made? What about Mega Man Legends 3? We called for it, yet it was cancelled. I'm sick of this damn company and its constant half-assed effort.
I feel this would be a great idea. I would love to see this game with today's graphics...WOW. We have their ears, all we have to do is MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! ALL of the fans should start a drive to make this workout. RE2 was my first RE game and I feel was the best!!! Those were the days man.
although an RE2 remake would be sweet...I think I'd rather a Dino Crisis Remake....3 was just absolutely awful
I hope they do remake RE2. I really really hope they do, cause if not, just like the box says, there is "no hope left" (for this franchise). After 4, RE has been nothing but mediocre. I want a damn good SURVIVAL HORROR again. I havn't played a true, good, survival horror game since RE 1 & 2 and Silent Hill 1 & 2, yeah Dead Space was great but its no original RE or Silent Hill.
Cap...ugh...Capcom, really? ****ing really? Are you just being coy? Is this going to be another case of "Hey? You want Legends 3? Beg for it, and maybe we won't screw you over?"
Rich guys. Really rich.
