In December, Capcom released Resident Evil: Degeneration, a full-length animated movie based on the publisher's popular survival horror action games. Bringing that release full circle, Capcom announced today that the game based on the movie based on the game is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch through Apple's App Store.

As with the movie Resident Evil: Degeneration follows the exploits of franchise hero Leon S. Kennedy, as he battles an outbreak of zombies at "a major US airport." Capcom notes that the game features high-resolution 3D graphics, touch-screen controls, and accelerometer functionality. The third-person shooter also features a number of in-engine cutscenes that help tell the game's story.

Resident Evil: Degeneration is currently available through Apple's App Store for $6.99.

its now out for a few dozen phones. i got it on my enV touch. kinda with they would start incorporating multi touch in more touch phones. as far as i know only the iphone and LG cristal have multitouch. but, the internal qwerty works great for games anyway.

"Agreed. Degeneration would have likely been better suited for console play..." Yeah, cause there's never been a console Resident Evil game before. Ever think that perhaps that's not the idea behind it? I doubt they came up with the game idea and then thought "what could handle this best? The iPhone!". It's far more likely the iPhone had already interested them and they merely felt it was time to see what they could do with it.

outstanding for iphone/ipod touch. overall, not that great. would have been alot better on psp or any other system made for gaming for that matter.

been playing it now for the past 10 min, and its very intuitive and the controls work fine shooting is easy and targeting for a head shot is simple. So far I'm really digging this game. It has a very Resident Evil feel to it so for $7 you can't go wrong here. If you have an iPhone or an iTouch consider this one.

this looks like a resident evil version of the crappy metal gear solid iphone app. but apple isnt trying to make a gaming system. it puts its dev kit out to anyone who wants to make an app. capcom just decided to make a crappy resident evil game.

It's the same game as Nokia Ngage which is selling for $13. $6.99 sounds cheaper on iPhone.

I'd like to see some more classic console and PC games come to the iPhone/iPod Touch. I bought Wolfenstein 3D and Myst, but I'd LOVE to see Doom 1 and 2, and as much as Nintendo loves milking people for the same classic games over and over and over (and over), I'd think it'd be a no-brainer to port Super Mario Bros.

Hmmm...if Capcom were to release an RE title on iPHONE, I thought it would've been much more on the realm of "Umbrella Chronicles" than an actual 3rd person shooter. Cool tho, I gotta check it out!

Looks like a slower RE4, and I mean RE 1-3 slow. Still far and away better than the MGS Touch letdown.

Boy, Capcom keeps on pumping out, and it's usually stuff that doesn't suck. These folks probably have enough to make it in the console wars too. I wonder if a Capcom Console is being planned?
