Don't know if this is a break in the story if this will be next-gen or not but I did notice one of the sources that seemed to make a few of these sites believe it would be released on the new Xbox has been updated. Former Senior Level Designer @ Crytek Ashley Morgan had posted on her LinkedIn account "RYSE Pushing boundaries of next generation gaming, RYSE is an original AAA IP from Crytek slated to deliver an Epic first-person melee experience in the Roman Empire." But now she has added (Xbox360) to this statement under her experience (linkedin.com/pub/ashley-morgan/4/399/379).
Former Crytek developer's resume suggests Kinect-centric sword game may not be released on current hardware.
Ryse, Crytek's first-person ancient Rome era brawler, was first announced at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo as an Xbox 360 Kinect title. However, a recent discovery has now put the actual target platform in question.
According to the LinkedIn resume of a former Crytek level designer, Ryse is in fact being developed for Microsoft's next-gen console. According to the developer's profile, she spent the first half of 2011 working as a senior level designer at Crytek in Budapest, Hungary, on a project listed as "Ryse (X-Box Next Gen)."
Another small detail buried in the resume is a line that reads, "Championed original game design for tablet title exclusive to Crytek and expanding the franchise to include new genre of video game." Crytek currently has no projects announced as heading to tablets or mobile platforms in general.
Crytek had not responded to a GameSpot request for comment as of press time. For more on Ryse, check out GameSpot's recent coverage.
all i hear is ms better get some more exclusives. what do you think a kinect required title is no other system has kinect do they? this is only the beginning for kinect games. by the way kinect + 3d equals the first stage of virtual reality. think about it.
PS4 won't be out for a long time as the PS3 is supposed to have a 10 year life span. I wonder what the final name of the new XBOX console will be. Durango is just a working title.
@Bobz216 lmfao. compared to the things that kinect can do now? Like Microsoft's version of wii sports without a controller? Kinect is a fail for gamers. There's no such thing as a hardcore kinect game. the 360 alone hardly, if even, beats the ps3. Kinect alone beats the ps3? what a fan boy.
@RawDeal_basic wtf do you mean by one exclusive a year?! ps3 is total sh** compared to the things kinect can do now, just the d**n kinect beats the ps3.
There must be a significant amount of difference between the current 360 and the Next Gen console to make them want to hold off. @gypsygib, Agreed.
Seeing how Kinect is extremely limited in terms of controlling GAMES, this is probably a good thing.
Controller + Kinect can be good. Kinect alone is only good for certain games (e.g. Dance Central). Sorry, but there is a need for a controller of some sorts. Nintendo and Sony know this and that's why their motion controls are implemented the way they are. Kinect is cool and works to a degree, but it should only be used to add controls to games were appropriate. All motion games still need practice to figure out where motion fits in with normal controls.
That video was all I needed to see. I'm selling my 360, getting a PS3, and never supporting MS again. "You are the controller." FU M$. One exclusive a year won't cut it anymore.
@ziproy Pretty sure xbox/kinect are out selling wii and ps3 and its WAY better then your lame wii sorry you bought a horrible idea from nintendo and once the wii-u fails harder then the wii did they'll prob be bought out like sega was
This is kind of funny that the other guy couldn't land a single hit...or do anything successful for that matter. They are doing these kinect gaming all wrong. For instance, I would love playing DMC in kinect, but if you make it an all-kinect game, you will simply ruin it, since it's practically impossible to play like this.. But...if you keep the Gamepad, play most of the game with it, and on certain occasions such as cutscenes or cinamatic combat events, they should instantly switch to kinect, allowing you to perform these over the top fighting while watching the cutscene, this would be great! In other words, gamepad + kinect, works better.
I really liked the Dog! he/she is awesome. Perhaps you can scan your pet to kinect, and see how pets play console gaming... Would be great!
I had very high hopes for this game and it had so much portential untill it turned out to be a kinect game, and now am so disssapointed and pretty much dont care much bout it
I don't own a PS3, only an Xbox 360, but Xbox better get some more exclusive titles. The juggernaut Gears of War is over and the only huge titles they have left is Halo and Forza Motorsport. (Fable is garbage now.) Hopefully Ryse is good otherwises Microsoft better pick it up.
The only thing that I think would be remotely fun for Kinect is a really well put together melee combat game where your movements are so exact that if you are actually good at martial arts or some sort of fighting technique in real life that it would benefit you in game and your skill would show. Any other type of game would just be better with a regular controller. You can't even make a game like Zelda SS with sword control because there would be no way to move your character with Kinect, unless its on rails. So in other words I can't see this game being great, I hope they get it right and prove Kinect is worth something but I doubt it.
As for Microsoft I think 2012 will be their launch date it seems to alll add up. As for Sony I do not think they will launch 2012 as they are launching PSV. 1 year head start is not too bad again as PS3 is still going strong, and with PSV it will be great for them to work together. I think it will be at the earlist if PS3 sales hold stedy 2014, Later if PS3 sales rocket up while Xbox and Xbox Next lag. But wel will see what happens.
I just hope it is not exclusive as Sony will have EYEtoy2 out with PS4 which will be an Point-of-flight, IR Depth... camera simular to the 3D camera that MS uses. Add the Move to it and it will track a fight with good look at kicks but persion will go to the move added controles.
Ryse... Still a really, really silly name. I know they're trying to do the Crysis/crisis thing but it doesn't work for me.
lol if it were PC they'd still be able to develop hahaha consoles...when will people learn that they're recycled garbage. Thumb me down, I don't care, as long as you read this I still win :)
are there dev kits for the new Xbox already or are they just prepping ahead with textures and 3d models? (You know stuff you can do in advance then fit it in what ever architecture)
I would rather wait and have this done right. If sent out with clunky unresponsive controls that will just ruin the idea of potentially an epic game.
I like when people try to push the boundaries.. I don't know if it will be interesting to play but I applaud the effort.
@pszone Dude, are you drunk when you post? Look if you are not a native english speaker I apologize but that post was... WOW. Not sure what you were trying to say or what your point was. Again, it was a business decision by MS. I could offer to create a game for MS all by myself but that would take 10+ years and a ton of money and would be pointless. Sober up and repost or just ignore me if you just have trouble with english.
Hopefully this releases alongside Kinect 2.0...It definitely looks promising but the question is..When is the next Xbox releasing? and how long must we wait... Crytek=Best graphics+Best gameplay=satisfied gamer :D
I appreciate that Microsoft went ahead and did something motion-related that isn't a rip-off of the wii..but it just isn't my cup of tea..I have/do/and always will want a controller in my hands..motion controls like wiimote and move offered a great use for motion control ( mainly for fps's which allowed smooth and fluid movement and avoiding the ''stiff knee'') ..they've almost spoiled me to the point of not wanting to use a second analog for aiming. But I don't get any pleasure or fun out of being the controller,I want to do things in a game that I can't do in real life..if I want to do a dance game I want one (ie. Just Dance) that I can be a little off to but still enjoy dancing to,not a game like Dance Central where I might as well turn it off and take actual dancing lessons to begin with.Kinect is good technology but it just isn't aimed at me.
I just really hope MS and Sony don't try to hurry and push their next-gens just to compete with the wii-u (the fact that both have been so anxious to get theirs out after the e3 announcement proves that the wii-u is making pretty loud tracks) or else we will have a 3ds-case on our hands. Both MS and Move are actually getting out of the gate and making good progress with actual games but I fear that announcing the next gen will impede that..Nintendo has nothing to lose...the wii is dying..Skyward Sword was the excellent funeral..xenoblade (U.S Edition) will be the after-snack...and the wii will be completely dead..so they can go ahead and progress to the next console before wii sales get painful..but both ps3 and 360 have a lot of life left in them and this will only cut their lives even shorter.
@MJ12-Conspiracy I kinda hope so, I've wanted a new Timesplitters for current gen consoles for years now! A lot more than a kinect game (whether it has potential or not)
This is the first Kinect game that I'm even remotely interested in. Though I doubt it will end up anywhere as cool as it could be.
soz but kinect is only good for people who have kids, what adult are u going to see jumping about like a nuter playing kinect. If u have kids and u wont to play some fun games with the family then kinect is amazing but in my opinion why bother making a game like this when 90% of ppl hate kinect. crytek should just stick to makeing fps games like crysis this game frankly looks crap. ...
"x-box next gen" We've been calling the xbox 360 and PS3 next gen consoles this whole generation. How do you know it isn't just the xbox 360?
@Matthew-first: Imagine how the games would look if no console would exist, even if the new ones comes out they still dragging whole visuals down unlike PC platform.
@ vaknir91, I agree. As a moderate gamer, Kinect is a ripoff. The enjoyment you get from playing non motion games is either equal to or most of the time better than this kinect bs.
