Sega hatching new Alien game

As long as it actually is made by Creative Assembly and not shoved to another talentless studio then its fine. 

Sega have always been pathetic, they just got lucky with Sonic. They screwed up the Saturn by panicking (the development and marketing and giving up on the console too early), they screwed up the DC with yet more panicking (the Development, marketing and giving up on the console too early), they then went into hiding, sorry, publishing, to lick their wounds and treated the their old console fans like crap. Now they get the Aliens license and I bet you they are giving Gearbox crap too. This new announcement? It smacks of Panic. I don't care about this game, I want Colonial Marines ffs...

@syafiqjabar I've slept since playing the avp games from 10+ years ago. Barely remember them, but do remember they were fun. The recent AvP games I remember are: PS3/360 version and the RTS on the PS2 (and maybe orig. xbox). Both sucked, both didn't sell well. AvP movies, both sucked, don't know how the first movie was able to spawn another. I know that the games have been separated before. Alien trilogy on PS1 still holds a special place in my heart as well as Alien 3 on Genesis/SNES. Stand-alone Predator games? Not so much. Played Pred 2 when I was a kid, only thing I remember is that I rented it and played it for maybe 20 min total because I became bored with it. You obviously missed my point. In the last 7-8 years, when have you seen anything baring "Aliens" WITHOUT the word "Predator" right next to it? That's my point. I'm sick of seeing AvP stuff because lately it's been rubbish. This new game in this article really piqued my attention because it mentions NOTHING about Predator (thank God). I was also very sad the day I heard that the Alien RPG game was cancelled. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Hey lets not listen to any our fans (people who pay us to make games) but instead lets give them a non-military puzzle platformer with rpg elements and........ARRRRRGGGG......give us the marines already!! The fans want pointy sticks and tactical shoulder fired nukes and pulse rifles with a squad of marines not the drivel they churned out last time....not holding my breath for this one.....

im still trying to figure out why alien extermination never came out on Xbox 360 or playstation 3 because that arcade game is BAD AZZ, oh and a big tip one of the best alien games was the Alien vs Predator game that capcom did way back in the day it was a 2d fight and shooting game you could choose either a female or male soldier or two predator hunters.If this game were brought back just the way it is but in 3D that would be in incredible game. I believe the time Crisis style alien games are some of the best games and the game i mentioned earlier in this comment.

@GarZ-- Yes, there was Goldeneye, Chronicles of Riddick and Spider-man 2. Probably a lot more I forgot. Your comment is of course puzzling, since this game isn't even based on any of the movies, but the Alien franchise as a whole. On top of that, there have been multiple Alien games that have been pretty good.

If sega could just set up a decent team to make an aliens game they might actually have something there but so far I haven't played anything in the decent range. DL SEGA!!!!

I had fun with AVP for a little while but the piss poor support and worst matchmaking ever for consoles wore out its welcome game still sold pretty well though so hopefully a new dev will bring out a good game. I want Colonial Marines from gearbox they have track record of quality games. I want colonial marines with drop in drop out co-op gameplay, some good atmoshpere and characters to choose from.

AVP sucked. I'm afraid this might also.

I hope this one will be better since the last game was not so good... The whole atmosphere and controls/movement need to be completely changed.

@jasonlc3221 Don't you remember we had 3 good AvP games (one on the Jaguar, two on the PC)? Also this is an Alien game, not a Predator game. You talk like there have never been seperate Alien and Predator games before.

Sounds like it could be a winner, as long as they leave out the predator. Look, I enjoy both franchises, but not together. It should've stayed in just the comic books. Just look at how awful the avp movies were when compared to the alien movies or the predator movies.

AVP wasn't anything spectacular but was still something enjoyable, Online was good too. So I will have good hopes fro this ones. My only regret with last game is that Marine campaign was horrible and Predator one was awesome. All campaigns should be fun

When it says its being developed by the viking team, does that mean its being developed by the people who made that crappy 5.5 viking game? Hopefully not...

Okay, this just seems odd to me. They started making an Alien RPG, and cancelled it. Aliens: Colonial Marines is apparently still in development at Gearbox, but we've seen no hide or hair of it. And now suddenly they're announcing yet another Alien game? Come on Sega, make your minds up. At the very least, show us what Gearbox have been working on all this time, and get that one out of the door before teasing everyone with yet another announcement. So far all we've had is an AvP rehash that some people like and other's hate, and didn't exactly get stellar review scores. For the love of mercy give us something we can really get our (tongue) teeth into!!

im hoping this will lean more the "horror" side of things. Like Amnesia:the dark descent..but with aliens...and flamethrowers.just dont make humans to over powered gotta make us fear the aliens not see them as more lines of code to end with a 12 gauge.

As I can remember, a previous Aliens game was cancelled do to some reason I can't remember. I believe the game focused around the marines doing a recon mission on some alien infested planet. Now that game looked promising for sure. I just hope this game is somewhat going to be like that, as I'm a fan of the Alien series. Please do this game some justice (the franchise so much desperately needs).

@Garz-- Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was, forget being a great movie-based game, one of the best games I ever played. The Two Towers and Return of the King games were also heaps of fun.

@GarZ-- Movies that are older often makes for a better game. The Godfather, I found to be a very good game. The Warriors was an amazing game, etc.

I really hope this game is good, "Aliens" is my favorite Sci-Fi/Horror movie of all time, and the "Aliens" series is probably my favorite too, but every game dating back to the SNES and Genesis has ranged between average and totally sucks.

WHEN was there ever a "good" movie-based video game? Never. No matter how hard they try, it'll always suck in the end. This game will get a 6.0 at the most.

lets hope its better than Rebellion's AVP bad MP and sucky first person mechanics brought the game down

sega really needs to put out a blockbuster hit..they've put out such mediocre titles the past few years since they went third party...it seemed like when they had a console they had a rep to maintain..now they just dont care...come on sega!

This game is made by Creative Assembly, who made Viking and Total War, not Rebellion. Colonial Marines is by Gearbox, which haven't actually gotten cancelled.

I've been waiting for Colonial Marines for ages man. It better not turn into another Duke Nukem farce. Still a game based on the original film sound good, I've been a fan of the series since I was a kid.

Rebellions haters are always funny. AvP was a decent game not perfect but no so horrible like they said it is. 100 times better than Brink.

When I first read the title I thought they meant Thor: god of thunder by "Viking". Boy was that a relief when I read Viking: battle for Asgard.

Viking: Battle for Asgard is a highly underrated game, it's one of my favorite games that no ones heard of. I can't wait to see what these guys do with one of my favorite franchises. I also would love to see an Alien game from Gear Box!

but, I still want Aliens:Colonial Marines. who knows, maybe the earth's axis will flip, hell will freeze over and we'll get an announcement at E3 (no, I'm not holding my breath for it, but admit it. Some new details and a launch window are overdue)

Please Please Please do not give this game to Rebellion to develop. People give them credit for crap they did not do. Everyones always like "Oh they made the old school AVP so I bet the new one will be good!". WRONG. Rebellion made AVP1 and the reboot AVP, both of which were pretty above-average. The AVP game that made us not want to play another game in the dark ever again was AVP2, and that was made by Monolith, the same guys that brought us F.E.A.R. Its Rebellion thats the problem, get rid of those second-rate developers!
