Sega registers Valkyria Chronicles 3 domain
URL registration prompts sequel speculation for new instalment in Sony-platform strategy series; no other details confirmed.
When Sega announced it would be making the sequel to its well-received PlayStation 3 strategy title Valkyria Chronicles exclusive to the PSP, many fans were left disappointed. However, it didn't seem to hurt Valkyria Chronicles 2's sales in Japan when it was released in February this year--the game debuted in second place on the Japanese charts, selling 94,444 copies in its first week.
Now, it appears Sega is in the planning stages of the third instalment in the series, with news surfacing this week that the domain name "Valkyria3.jp" has been registered by the publisher. Japanese news site Andria Sang is reporting that Sega registered the domain on May 31 this year. Sega already owns "Valkyria2.jp" and "Valkyria.jp," which both point to the official sites for the first two games.
Access to the "Valkyria3.jp" domain prompts for a username and password and reveals nothing else.
While this seems to confirm that Sega will indeed be continuing the Valkyria Chronicles franchise, the question remains which platforms the publisher might bring the title to.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 is out on August 31 in North America.
