Shippin' Out April 16-20: Valhalla Knights, Bust-A-Move Bash!
A PSP RPG and Wii puzzler lead a minor mob of springtime releases, including five downloadable titles for next-gen consoles.
Even though summer isn't until June 21, rain-starved Californians are already bracing for the first official drought in 15 years. But it's hard to imagine anything drier than this week's crop of game releases. The sole title being released at retail for the latest batch of consoles is Bust-a-Move Bash! for the Wii. The game is the latest in Taito's long line of puzzle games, and will allow up to eight-player matches using the motion-sensing Wii Remote.
All the rest of the week's next-gen console games come in the form of digital downloads. Most are retro arcade classics, such as Bonk's Revenge, Virtua Fighter 2, and the legendary Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream, which are all now available on the Wii's Virtual Console. Also, old-school favorite Gyruss and new-school casual golf game 3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures both arrive on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.
The rest of the week's releases are a mixed bag. The DS will get some pinball courtesy of Classic Action: Devilish. The PlayStation Portable will take a double hit in the form of the Japanese role-playing game Valhalla Knights and the risqué billiards simulator Pocket Pool. Meanwhile, the handheld's older sibling, the PlayStation 2, will get races (Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2), heists (Th3 Plan), and mechs (Eureka Seven Vol. 2: The New Vision).
