Shippin' Out June 13-19: Toy Story 3
Disney Interactive Studios' motion picture tie-in, Nintendo's 100 Classic Books, World War II submarine game Naval Assault: The Killing Tide highlight a slow week.
The 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo kicks off this coming week in Los Angeles, and the industry clearly has the show at the top of its priority list. Unlike past weeks, which saw the release of high-profile add-on content and games including Modern Warfare 2's second map pack, Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Green Day: Rock Band, this week sees fewer new releases in both number and prominence.
Pixar's third installment in the Toy Story series comes to theaters this Friday, and Avalanche Software joins in on the animated action with a video game debuting Tuesday. Toy Story 3: The Video Game comes to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PC, and Wii on June 15, three days before the animated flick hits theaters. The game isn't directly tied to the film's narrative, so those who pick up the game on launch day needn't fear spoiling the film for themselves.
One other title being released this week is 505 Games' Naval Assault: The Killing Tide, a World War II submarine combat Xbox 360 exclusive, debuting June 15. The game has 30 missions set in the North Atlantic and multiplayer modes for up to four players.
For the portable gamer, Nintendo releases 100 Classic Books on Monday June 14. As its name suggests, this pocket-sized library has 100 novels packed in, from literary greats William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and more.
Also appearing Tuesday is Superbike World Championship SBK for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. This latest installment in the superbike series, from Black Bean Games, is a fully licensed title and includes the World Superbike Championship's cars, tracks, teams, and game modes.
