Regardless of any of these facts, they definitely left out quite a bit of diversity as far as items go, and I sincerely hope they make a lot of that up in this one. For example, we don't even have a hot tub in the game. The Sims without a hot tub??? What were they thinking. I realize there is the Sims store, but they haven't been releasing new items for it basically just the same items with new skins. I'm still very disappointed in much of the game. I think the gameplay is amazing. I also feel that the graphic and AI has made vast improvements. Now it'd be nice if we could have a little bit of diversity in the items.
World Adventures add-on will take gibbering homebodies on a cultural quest through Egypt, China, and France.
Despite introducing an online store full of extra clothes, decorations, and themed room sets for The Sims 3, Electronic Arts isn't straying too far from the retail expansion packs model that made the first two games in the PC life sim series so successful. Today, the publisher announced that the first such expansion--The Sims 3 World Adventures--will arrive in stores worldwide the week of November 16.
As the name suggests, World Adventures will take the Sims out of suburbia and on a globetrotting tour, letting them explore fictitious Sim cities in France, Egypt, and China. While visiting the far-off locales, the Sims will be able to visit landmarks, partake of the local culture, and learn new skills. Players will also be able to recount their Sims' travels though in-game photos, movies, and stories.
As with the original Sims 3, EA will use the expansion pack to drive players to the Sims 3 online store. Customers who purchase World Adventures will be given 1,000 SimPoints ($10) to spend in the store, and some items will only be available to those who purchased the expansion.
The Sims 3 World Adventures won't be confined to the PC. EA Mobile is also working on versions for mobiles phones, the iPhone, and iPod Touch with an expected launch early next year.
im amazed at how many of u idiots took time out to say wawawa. if u dont like ea/maxis/sims Y R U here? if EPs are stupid YRU so upset that sims3 didnt come preloaded with them but then complain that the base game doesnt have all the EP capabilities preloaded?? would ur system be able to push it if it did? wawawa wonder how many ep they will force us to buy/ boohewhu and the endless epS begin ... its the best selling computer game of all time ... and u came here to talk about what u didnt like just to be part of the conversation?...? who knows what they are doing EA or the numerous posts after this one saying the same wawawa ... hint its not U.
Looks like a fun expansion pack, but I agree with others-that EA should have started with something like seasons or other things that impact daily life.
you just know they will have some amazing stuff planned for sims 3 ......summat along the lines of open for business will be good
Woopee! Presently, the game contains about 1% of realistic hairstyles, clothes, furniture, plants, and building materials and we get an expansion pack to take us to places that will have even less. But one gets 1,000 points to purchase worthless stuff from the Store as an "enticement." Who said that gaming wasn't fun?
Not exactly what I was hoping for. Its more like a "side quest", not something that is added to the gameplay as a whole. Such as seasons for example...
I am very excited about this! Although i really wanted the first EP to be more like TS2 Seasons, this sounds cool too! It will definitely expand the game! The countries to visit sound cool, but i just wonder, what new actions and things can we do other then visit the place! It will get boring after 5 different Sim families have visited each of the 3 locations 5 times each! We need more actions for the in game, for home - Sunset Valley! Thats why Seasons should have been the first!! It gave us so many new things to do while also adding a long lasting action to the game!! :D
I'm just going to wait until they have The Sims 3 Deluxe or something, within the next year there will be like 6 expansions so I'm just going to wait, watch and get the game at a cheaper price and possibly an expansion that will make the experience better.
Gee EA, don't you think you could've made it just a little less obvious that you were going to exp. spam us? I mean we all expected it, but we didn't expect it to start less then 3 months after the games release.
This is so obviously following the same path as any other Sims game. Many complain about this and that should have been added onto the original game, but when you think of it if they did add on all the expansion ideas from the start when do you think the game would ever have ever been released? At least this way if you want to add to Sims you can with whatever expansions you desire. You don't have to buy this expansion, or any, but the option is there and at least you still have the original to play as it is. Don't want it or have to have it? Then don't let EA have your money. Simple. If you do, then enjoy the game.
I wonder if the SimFrench are as rude as the real ones. I look forward to being the SimUgly American.
Another expansion pack from the King of Expansion Packs. EA have been putting out expansion packs for Madden for 11 years now. So they charge us for a half a game, now they are charging use again for the other half! What a racket!
I have a huge tolerance for expansion packs as long as they EXPAND a game to its full extent (Not like Oblivion's Horse Armour) and this pack sounds like it will expand... just not enough. You'll still have to go to the online store to buy that cool dress you saw in the trailer etc. However I believe that is just the Sims from now on, lacking half the content it should which you have to buy at extra cost!
I can't believe EA screwed Sims 3 over so badly, I half expected them to release an expansion pack (which I am a fan of) but not to include stuff that should've already been there!!! Sims 3 has to get another 3 more expansions to make it even remotely playable...
The online store really pisses me off like the stuff packs for Sims 2. To buy a full living room in the online store cost as much as an expansion pack does, talk about a rip-off. When are modders going to make new objects? I'm sure they're all working on it.
i can see into the future... More expansion packs that do nothing to benifit the game and their sole purpose is to rip off the customer! Bwhuahahahaha!!!
Not too impressed with this expansion. I want more stuff or options for daily game play. Seasons was awesome for the sims 2....they should just do that again lol.
haha, they dont waste anytime do they? if they didnt rush sims 3 probs the next couple of expansion packs be void, not that sims 3 is lacking, but it aint bursting at the seams with content either.
"I think it's safe to say that Maxis is quickly running out of ideas." Actually Maxis had nothing to do with the development of The Sims 3, they were probably working on Spore at the time.
personally I don't think this is a step in the rite direction.. they shud've released Sims 3 alrdy containing similar expansions to what Sims 2 had.. it's like making an awesome game and loads of expansions.. then releasing a good game without any expansions.. surely they saw it coming?
I was waiting to get TS3 until they added some of the old features back in, and vacation was the one feature I could care less about. "Customers who purchase World Adventures will be given 1,000 SimPoints ($10) to spend in the store, and some items will only be available to those who purchased the expansion." I don't like that business model at all. Why not just include those items in the expansion pack in the first place?
I agree with barkera0. The travel expansions seem the least interesting to me. I just want more options for activities during daily life.
I don't have a problem with the expansions, that's how the Sims series goes, that ok, but I really have a problem with how ridiculously expensive the stuff in the online store is. This expansins giving you $10 of credit, which is about enough to buy a single new table. That is insane, considering the base game is extremely bare already, with a tiny selection of items to choose from.
I do not care about virtually visiting Egypt, China or some other third world country...i just want PETS
don't see why people whine and complain about the expected it's the sims people, we all knew it would happen...no shock i might have to wait to get this one though, not too exciting, was hoping for seasons, pets, or something to expand the careers even more
Sounds so totally crap: I might get it, but I'm not paying for it, like. I figure they owe me one from when I first opened my copy of the Sims 3, as unsurpisingly I found my self asking: "Where in the bollocks are my Pets?" It's just not on, like, so I raid the Sims Store every month or so, if you know what I'm saying.
what a shocker, another sims game, another £19.99 every few months for yet another expansion, you already have on sims 1 and 2 !!
Is it me or they are not really happy with sales when they are allready releasing a expansion, and omg i mean please, france for white, chine for asian's (i am really really shocked that its not japan) and egypt for middle easterner's. I really hate this new trend thats going on in music, movies games etc, like to satisfy everyone so no one fells left behind, when in real life its...well.
