Lol at Ritsuko and the other ignorant console gamers. Need $1000 dollars for "serious" hardware for a PC to run SKyrim? Yeah right, you can run Skyrim on HIGH(Which is much better or MAYBE (doubt it)equal to the console versions) on a 500 build. And don't you guys dare say 500 is alot of money when you pay 200-250 for your console, pay 10 bucks a month , 60 bucks for games(We get sales bitch), or 60 a year for your Xbox live, batteries for your controllers, or 30 for each of your charge and play kits, you have paid way more than 500 console gaming. And lets not forget Skyrim has been on sale MANY times on Steam(As low as 20), so your even saving on the game. And if you pay 100 more, you can even run SKyrim on Ultra(600 build) which is way better than what you guys play on, on even 1220P, BEYOND 1080p. So have fun with your DLC, flying on dragons? We have been had mods for that. 30+ Hours of gameplay? That's nothing compared to all the mods we have. So get your info right before bashing PC.
Newest add-on for Elder Scrolls V coming to Xbox 360 for $20 early next month; no word on launch for PS3 or PC; new enemies, locations, and rideable dragons shown.
The rumor was right. The next expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is called Dragonborn and will launch for Xbox 360 gamers December 4. The content costs 1,600 Microsoft points, or $20, and its first trailer is embedded below.
Skyrim's Dragonborn downloadable content was hinted at last month, when a Bethesda forum user found source code that contained frequent mention of the words "Dragonborn" and "DLC2." The content was at the time rumored to allow users to ride dragons. This has not been confirmed, though the trailer strongly suggests that this will be the case.
Dragonborn will follow previously released DLC for Skyrim that includes Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Both are currently available for the Xbox 360 and PC, but potentially unsolvable issues have kept these add-ons from the PlayStation 3.
Publisher Bethesda previously stated that missing Skyrim DLC for the PS3 is the company's fault and not that of Sony. Bethesda vice president of public relations and marketing Pete Hines said at the time, "We have never blamed anyone or anything. It's our problem, and it's on us to solve it."
i hope this expansion is really an " expansion" unlike dawnguard and why is everybody complaining about the $20 price tag dont you guys remember that shivering isles was originally $30?
@younglinkx because its exactly what youre saying. Shivering Isles was an expansion, Dawnguard was not. This won't be either, it's another 10 mission pack with a couple generic repeatable side quests. $20 isn't unreasonable but it's not an expansion pack.
How do you know? Right now all we have are the 'rumors' from the beta players. They're saying 30+ hours so far and they haven't done everything yet. Although the mainquesy could be rushed in 10 hours. THey're also saying the area is very big and there is a lot to explore. Judging by the location list they've released this is about as big as Shivering Isles.
But if you dont want to accept rumors then there really is no way to Judge whether it is a 'real' expansion pack. So why are you claiming it is not? But your comparison with Danwguard is very flawed because Dawnguard added locations to the existing world, this actually adds a new landmass to the map.
Looks like a good time. I've enjoyed the other two downloads and this one will just add to the fun. Wonder if there will be any new wepons or armor or items for the two kids ?? I am sorry for those who don't have the 360, this is like rubbing salt into their wounds!!
@krollvetter I feel bad for those who don't have a PC powerful enough to play this with all the graphics mods, its like playing the NES vs SNES.
Wow for $20.00 again? I didn't get much out of Dawnguard id say around 10 hours and I did't get much out of Hearthfire either so im not sure if I should buy this or not.
I'm waiting for the reviews, but the beta players say 30+ hours. Besides it actually comes with a new landmass to explore, this alone will make it last longer then Dawnguard for a lot of people.
Yay! Dragon Mounts!!! This is gonna be awesome. But 20 dollars is a bit too much right? I'm just gonna wait for the torrents lool. And PS3 players stop complaining so much. You have got awesome exclusive games we xbox users don't. I would really like to play, say for example the uncharted series, but unfortunately I can't. So instead of useless bickering just get an xbox if you want the dlc so badly and as soon as possible. Because, if you ask me, xbox is probably paying bethesda or something to make it semi-exclusive.... PS3 problems? Yeah right! It doesnt take 6 months to fix a stupid problem does it?
@CasualGamer36x "just get an xbox if you want the dlc" - no, just get a PC if you want to enjoy Skyrim, dlc or not
@theend3r get a PC? LOL!!! how much do I pay? over $1,000?
Fair enough, I've been playing games on PC as long as I have on consoles and over the years it's just become more profitable for my enjoyment to dish out a little extra for a PC because I always knew I'd get my moneys worth. My Wii sits collecting dust and my PS3 only gets turned on for blu-ray or exclusives which are few and far between these days.
@Mikaeel still, a console costs 150euros and will last 3 to 4 years untouched after you buy it. A PC will cost you 1500 and after a year you will need to start twitching it. After 2 or 3 years you will need to upgrade it and spend another hundreds on it. All of this, not even going into the fact that even the mightiest PC may not work perfect with your favourite game. Each build is different and often you will loose a lot of time to optimize and get satisfactory results even before you start playing. Playing games on the pc isn't just a passion about games. It's a passion about games and about the rig you use to run it. Me, I just like to play games, and to that a console will do just fine.
First off - "Bethesda vice president of public relations and marketing Pete Hines said at the time, "We have never blamed anyone or anything. It's our problem, and it's on us to solve it."" BULL. Everyone following this game and it's related story saw his comment about the ps3 and read the articles that pointed it out. He can delete comments, and deny it a week later, but he blamed this on sony.
That being said, how can a company like this be proud of it's marketing team. Every article about them anymore always has a few paragraphs about the PS3 dlc. It's like they enjoy bad press.
I will give you all exclusive information as it relates to the PS3/Skyrim/DLC, info i've handed out before, and will keep on giving out.
PS3 will get skyrim dlc, but long after they are done with any and all dlc for the 360 and pc. This is how they did it with fallout 3, and that is how they will do it with skyrim. It's during that fiscal down period between games and they need some incoming money. So 2014, Skyrim PS3 DLC!
What the hell, 2 DLC were already time exclusives for the 360, thats what the deal was for wasn't it? Did MS chip in another million for them to get another one? This is some bs, release it at the same time on PC. Im not going to rush out to get a 360 just for the pleasure of playing a PC game a few weeks earlier. Do the right thing Bethesda, I've been supporting your ass since Arena. Without us there would be no Bethesda. Damn it.
@MikaeelLOL!! PC fanloser!!
I'm a loser because inevitably I get all the games that you get on console? Or else I can just emulate them? Or that I can buy games for $3 on steam sales while you can't? Or that if I was a real ass then I could just get any game for free? Yea I guess I really lose.
Skyrim might as well had been a 360 exclusive with the way Bethesda keeps taking a s*** on the PS3. SMH
its claim that this DLC is set in Solstheim which is an island in Morrowind which as at least half of the landmass of Vvardenfell. All i can say is that this DLC is a important expansion.
Half? Where do you base that on? Google a map of Morrowind GOTY and you'll see it isn't half. In fact, google an actual ingame map and you'll see that Soltheim is more like 1/10th of Vvardenfell.
Here, I did it for you: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/file/7MO13Hc5Qx7oxIyvyoGk1sAarc4
Also remember that Morrowind is a little bit more then half of Skyrim's size. So this DLC doesn't have to be that big. Stil, extra freeroamable landmass is always a nice thing.
20 bucks is a bit much, hopefully it will be a bit closer to Shivering Isles in scale. I have a week off right beofre Christmas Holidays and this could fill it up nicely.
@jimgray1066 Ya, I liked Shivering Isles, although I never finished it. It was much larger, and it was somewhat disappointing that Dawnguard didn't add more land.
Bethesda should be ashamed of themselves. Get your software working on all platforms before releasing more and more. Since when was alienation good?
And so the alienation of PC fans continues. Now it is crystal clear that every damn dlc that is going to come out is gonna be a 30 day MS exclusive first. This was not told when the original game came out. New fans of the game did not know that Bethesda would employ such sales mechanic and therefore i and many pc fans probably consider this sale tactics deceitful to begin with. I am sure that the official forums will be flamed yet once again on people wanting to have the dlc come to pc version sooner rather than later. I am sure that some people will remember this stunt by Bethesda next time they come out with a game again and might decided to not purchase or even hold until the inevitable GOTY edition. Bethesda has good moves with this game but their marketing strategy is horrible. Delays for PC fans and PS3 fans left hanging dry after initial release. That is 2 big strikes out of 3 in my book. I read like many other that there would be major expansions but from what i see, everything is going to be broken apart in smaller content to accomodate the xbox exclusive and avoid to have to work towards fixing the game for the ps3 which pretty much s-cks if you ask me. Oh well, what can you do, Its not like there is only skyrim and companies are killing each other to sell their stuff so if Bethesda wants to shoot themselves in the foot with their schemes much power to them i say, there are other games out there.
@kokonut1971 They need to feel some repercussions for this. Seriously they sit atop their mountain...the almighty untouchable Bethesda....makes me sick.
@kokonut1971 It was mentioned before the game came out that DLC for Skyrim would always come to 360 first, which is stupid, but we have known this. You would think Bethesta would work on getting the other DLC's to PS3 before making more so PS3 owners don't have to wait forever like they did with the Fallout 3 DLC, but I guess this is just more one sign of the game industry putting profit before costumers.
@toddx77 You are probably right but i never recall reading that. I knew that they were planning expansion and all, but then again if most people knew of that marketing scheme they would not complain on the official bethesda forum since they would know that everything was 30 days exclusive. But still i do hope that when next game rolls around that this is thrown in Bethesda's face so many times that they will have to face facial reconstruction cause frankly what they did or are doing is disrespectful and pure B$....
@kokonut1971 Well the games commercial was advertised as a 360 exclusive and this gen if you see a Xbox or Playstation logo after the commercial of a third party game than expect that version to get the most support. Sadly though it probably won't change next game. It seems Sony and MS determine which version of the game will be the better one.
I for one look forward to this. I'm also quite happy I abandoned my PS3 a long time ago. I never used it. It has always been an overall inferior system to my 360 and PC for me.
Between corporate incompetence, horrible network security, an incredibly lackluster online and store experience and less than ideal performance and quality, it's never kept the attention of more than people who either had to pick only one system, or are just strictly Sony fanboys.
Personal side by side comparisons of games on both systems on my home theater setup even provided to me the proof i needed that even the graphical quality and performance was slightly (although not real world noticeably) better on the 360. Which surprised me because as far as I knew the PS3 did have superior hardware, however I'm sure that custom hardware has caused more problems than solutions.
Overall the 1st Party games available for each system weren't even enough to keep me on the PS3. They just aren't compelling enough.
I can see the benefit to having a PS3, it just wasn't enough to convince me to ever buy another game for it ever again. It's essentially a PS1/PS2 and Blu-Ray player for me.
I guess the fact that I'll be playing this on my 360 and not my PS3 is enough to say that the situation blows for PS3 users. It's sad to see that they won't be getting content that is actually quite a lot of fun. And I sincerely hope that they are able to some day find out exactly where the disconnect is between the engine and hardware that is preventing the DLC from being added to the game for you guys. I know a lot of people who just ended up trading in their PS3 version for the 360 version, and say that quality and performance were reason enough to switch, and the DLC is a big bonus. It may be something worth looking into if you own both consoles.
However if you own a PC, just get that version =P
@Nikki_Chango Even with all 3 current gen and a good PC connected to my TV, my PS3 is still my go to console for multiplatform games. Well, that is for most multiplatform games, such as Assassin's Creed or Dark Souls. But for games like Skyrim, PC is the obvious choice, thanks to the huge mod community. It's just crazy all the things you can find there. My X360 is mostly used for XBLA and for the rare exclusives. My Wii wasn't turned on since I completed Skyward Sword last year.
@Nikki_Chango Nice to see that you take the time to bash a system when in fact PS3 owners are the victim. lol interesting swagger in life you must have ;)
@shmedo i would do that too , but im not feeling like playting the 220 hours i spend on ps3 again just to continue where i stopped , i have to forget bout skyrim now
@shmedo wash your mouth out with soap sir!
