Sony Online Entertainment to Introduce System Lords Expansion for Stargate Online Trading Card Game
Press Release
Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online entertainment industry, will introduce SYSTEM LORDS, the first expansion pack for the STARGATE Online Trading Card Game at Gencon Indy, August 16-19 at the Indiana Convention Center.
The initial set, SG-1, launched April 2007 and features familiar characters from MGM's popular sci-fi television series. Players assemble their own teams of characters and send them on missions throughout the galaxy, learning from their successes and enhancing their teams' abilities as the game progresses. Players alternate roles of hero and villain, attempting to complete their missions successfully and thwarting their opponent's efforts to do the same.
SYSTEM LORDS features more than 200 new cards, with four new starter decks based on well-known STARGATE villains, such as Apophis, Baal, Osiris and Yu. System Lords also introduces a new victory condition – Dominion – enabling quicker means to victory when players assume the role of villains during play. New characters are also introduced in the SYSTEM LORDS set – stoic Russians, the evil Goa'uld, Jaffa henchmen, Tok'ra field agents and mysterious NID spies – as well as surprising and different versions of favorite characters from the STARGATE SG-1 series. The expansion also includes a set of six "ultra rare" cards with a unique foil finish, packaged one set per box.
The SYSTEM LORDS starter deck contains 60 cards and sells for $10.99 (plus applicable taxes). 11 card Booster Packs are available for $3.49 (plus applicable taxes). The full Box Set (36 Booster Packs, plus six ultra-rare cards) sells for $113 (plus applicable taxes). Purchasing the digital cards and playing the game requires a free SOE Station ID; players can register at www.station.com.
