Square Enix picks up True Crime: Hong Kong

Next on the list should be "Dirty Harry" which was canceled for ?

Do you know what would be more Badass? If Square actually bought the rights to True Crime or bought the rights to republish the 1st and 2nd games in HD under a new name and put it in a special Edition or sell them on their own (xbox 360 version will have 3 discs for all 3 games and ps3 on 1 disc) with True Crime 3 How badass would that be?

Its always nice to see a franchise being rescued. Gives the devs what they deserve seeing their game hold promise! SE is way better than craptivision. I would love qanother open world action game especially one not set in USA( GTA!!!)

i love true crime with the black guy ! ( i don't remember the name of that one) one of levels we are on asylum & the hands & legs are closed . we need to get out of place without bing alarm ( enemies don't see us ) & fight & ..... best game i have play on ps2 ( after GOW )

So, this is what will happen. Activision goes all out on Call of Duty, then Battlefield 3 takes the gold. Then True Crime hits an all time high on sells, Activision tries to buy out true crime and sell CoD map packs. unsuccessful obviously. and the community will have the right to say. OH YEAH! IN YOUR FACE ACTIVISION from both battlefield and true crime fans!! and Activision is gonna be F****D The end. :)

@Henninger I don't think the first two games sold well enough for it to make that big of a difference, but you might be right. On the other hand, it may not sell as well as if it were still under Activision's control, but I do believe it will be a better game now. Really loved Streets of L.A.. Regret getting rid of it. Will be looking forward to this one now.

I dont think this game will sell as well as they think it will without the True Crime name attached to it.

This (to be re-named) True Crime game is 90% complete. It already has a developer, the same studio that's been handling it since the start - United Front Games. It's not going to be touched by Eidos Montreal. It's not going to adopt a new game engine when it's 90% complete. It's not going to be retrofitted with characters from other Square or Eidos games and merged into another franchise. It's way, way too far along. Do folks give their comments any thought before posting?

So what Square Enix has done is bought the "True Crime Hong Kong" gamecode. So they can release it this game as something else. Kinda similar to Doki Doki Panic became Super mario 2 which was released in Japan as Super Mario USA. So This will not be a True Crime Game. Well Square Enix may as well throw Kane and Lynch in this game and call it a sequel.

Activision didn't know how good they had it, before they cancelled this game and broke off the contract with United Front Games. Then they did the same with Bizarre Studios (who developed Blur) and the sad thing is that Bizarre was closed down and not just cancelled. I just hate Activision when they think that they can do whatever they want. I hope that when this game comes out, it make like a million sales to "in the face" Activision, not good enough my ass

Yes, just like I predicted. With Square Enix's experience with Just Cause 2, this will be the best True Crime and longest yet....

@kiramasaki I suggest that next time you go on a tangent you actually know what your talking about. Square Enix did not develop Breath of Fire, so why Include a none Square Enix game in list? Sure the US division of Square published the very first Breath Of Fire in the states, but the game was still developed by Capcom, and published by Capcom in Japan. The rest of the games in the series were brought over by Capcom in America, so no Square did not create breath of Fire, they only published the original US version thats it. Get your facts straight....

Square Enix should just obtain the IP. Maybe now that it's out of Activision's hands the game can finally flourish.

If they censor it like they did Kane and Lynch 2, I'ma lose it and go postal. With that said, I've waited forever and I was really annoyed when Activision cancelled it, I'm glad that SE picked it up and I hope that they can pull it off. :)

Oh no, not Square Enix... Anyway, I hope they stop going downwards with this game, and Hitman, Deus Ex and all those games that I don't want them to screw up. Got many fresh memories of them screwing up games I liked.

Please Pick up Battlefront 3 franchise, you just need to improve on battlefront 2 and make sure the split screen is there =)
