Star Trek tie-in pushed to 2013

@Emerald_Warrior That's irrelevant. An FPS is one thing, a TPS is another. It seems was the word you were looking for, and in that I agree with you. But it just isn't a FPS.

@Emerald_Warrior FPS stands for First Person Shooter. This appears to be a third person shooter, or at least that's the only thing shown in any trailer.

@MW2ismygame: STO i believe is running in the prime timeline. or one that branches off from the destruction of romulus. In the prime timeline Vulcan does still exist. Nero going back created another divergent one where the new movies are taking place (done this way to keep fanboys from crying foul on continuity issues). Dealing with the Star Trek universe(s) is like trying to figure out the freaking Zelda timeline (and no nintendos chart does not help :P).

@MW2ismygame I have dude, though they were early storylines and it has been a while. I just downloaded the free 2 play client an hour ago so I'll be going in to have a look and see if it's improved later this evening :) I have heard some good things about it in regards to improvements since release.

@Emerald_Warrior It's not going to be an FPS. At least, they have never said so anyway.

@JasPlun What was wrong with the last one? To "fun" and "watchable" compared to the others for your taste?

@penpusher have you even played STO ? it runs with the new startrek storyline and fills in the blanks, hence why the Hobus supernova is in it edit: i will grant u this there is a plot hole and that is that vulcan is still there

Digital Extremes are a bunch of idiots. Why take Star Trek, a truly unique and great TV and movie franchise, and turn the video game into just another FPS in a sea of FPS?!

I liked the reboot in that they wiped out all that happened and gave it a blank slate for all new stories. Now they can write stories and not be held to the backstories written in the 60's.

@Smokescreened84 Last time I checked the two lead roles to O.G. Star Trek were always two men.. Kirk and Spock. deal with it.

So tired of seeing all this run and gun gameplay in Star Trek games. It should be a minor, almost non-existant part of the gameplay. Any chance of getting a developer who's actually watched the shows? That might be nice.

didnt really like the reboot but love star trek so i am looking forward to the game. most trek games are pretty good so theres that

I didn't care all that much when they did the reboot, but i love Star Trek and i am willing to keep an open mind about it. Shame it has to be the new characters though.

The LOTR tie ins were pretty good, Batman Begins was a good tie in game also, and This one has great potential. JJ Abrams didn't butcher anything the script by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman while not perfect was far and away better then any of "TNG" films with the exception of First Contact. Zachary Quinto's portrayal of Spock is pitch perfect and as a HALF Vulcan we should be seeing Spock display flashes of emotion just like he did in the film. In addition to Zachary we got a whole bunch of other great performances out of complete unknowns like Pine, Saldana, and to a certain extent Karl Urban as we haven't really seen him "act" just blow stuff up in action movies like Doom or Chronicles of Riddick (Oh btw CR Escape From Butcher's Bay was also a great tie in game) .

Wow i didn't know so many people can see the future. Can you tell me more about the future if you can. I for one look forward to see how this game turns out. The reboot film was awesome for me and yes watched all star trek series from the Original to Enterprise ( which wasn't as bad as people make it to be).

Please no more JJ Abrams Trash he butchered the franchise enough as it is.The only reason it did so well is because people were curious imo.If you are going to make a Star Trek game a success I sugest you stay in the Next Generation timeline and let Bioware make the game.

No thanks. It's another male lead only title, you play as Kirk or Spock or co-op together, no character creation. Likely very bland and disappointing, like the majority of movie tie ins, and isn't set in the prime time line so that's another bad mark to it. Star Trek DAC was terrible, this one will likely be as bland and boring as that one was.

Nobody cares about movie tie-ins games. After all the flops in recent times, I thought that the industry understood.

@Linkari no but unfortunatly, at least for now and possibley for ever, the original timeline is being left alone :( Except for Star trek online which is butchering the story line ...
