Starcraft II World Championship Series event coming to Australia
Places at World Championship on offer; international shoutcasters "Artosis" and "Tasteless" commentating; combined prize pool of $25,000.
Blizzard Entertainment and the Australian Cyber League today announced a partnership that will see the Australian National and Oceania Starcraft II World Championship Series finals hosted locally. Scheduled for the weekend of August 11-12 this year at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, the Australian Nationals will kick off on Saturday, to determine which players will compete in Sunday's Oceania Finals.
The weekend will be the largest eSports event Blizzard has hosted in the region. It will showcase the top 18 players from Australia and New Zealand and offer a combined prize pool of A$25,000. The two finalists determined by the event will then go on to represent the region in the Battle.net World Championship in China later this year.
The tournament has also attracted international shoutcasters Daniel "Artosis" Stemkoski, Nicolas "Tasteless" Plott and local favourite Leigh “Maynarde” Mandalov, all of whom will be providing commentary during the weekend.
Entry is free, and additional information can be found at the ACL website and on the Battle.net blog
