Super Meat Boy for iOS to be remade from scratch
Team Meat reveals first look at Super Meat Boy: The Game for iOS; confirms mobile version has been reworked "from the ground up."
Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat has officially revealed an iOS version of the popular indie platformer, announcing the game will be completely remade for touch-screen devices.
The game is titled Super Meat Boy: The Game, and the developers revealed that the iOS version will be a feature-length touch-control platformer "specifically" designed for touch devices and will feature brand-new art and sound.
In February this year, Team Meat--Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes--announced they had begun work on a prototype of the popular indie platformer for touch devices. At the time, the duo was still unsure if a mobile version of Super Meat Boy would eventuate.
McMillen and Refenes announced they would be going ahead with an iOS version of the game on the official Team Meat blog this weekend.
"It will not be a sh***y port of an existing game with non-tactile buttons spread all over the screen blocking the players view and making for frustrating controls," the duo stated on the blog.
No release date for Super Meat Boy: The Game has yet been announced.
