Game companies to partner up with Japanese manga publisher Shueisha to create online game for web browsers.
Anime and manga fans can expect an online MMORPG based on the Naruto series to pop up soon.
According to Game Spark (via SGCafe), China-based online gaming company Tencent Games made a deal with Japanese manga publisher Shueisha and video game publisher Namco Bandai for the rights of the upcoming game's development and distribution. The upcoming title will be playable on web browsers and is developed by More Fun Studio, Namco Bandai, and CyberConnect2 (Asura's Wrath, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series).
The game is scheduled for a 2013 release and will be available on Tencent's gaming portal. The publishers did not announce on whether the game will be published outside of the Chinese market. For more news on CyberConnect2's upcoming Naruto title, check out GameSpot's recent coverage.

no way. they better make it come out in america, like narutos the most watch anime. every one that watches anime from 8 to probably the age of 28 would play it in the U.S, and if u gotta pay to play the game. that wouldnt change anything, that would just mean more money for the creators of the game. like u make the game for only china, i bet money people from the U.S will still download the game and make an english patch so its just stupid not to make it for america

A Naruto MMO where you formed 4 person squads and had to use tactics similar to what they do in the series would be cool. Setting up a plan of attack well in advance, using the specific traits of your character properly, stalking an enemy through the woods and setting traps to cover your ass, having to be observant of traps that might be set for you... all of that would be awesome. It's be like Ninja Rainbow Six. Pretty sure this game will have 0% of that though.
Yeah, too bad it's for China...figures anytime they announce something I think would actually be great, such as an mmo with a fully-articulated martial arts fighting form OR EIGHT or mech games with respectable options, it's in a language NO ONE KNOWS!
I really do not like web-browser MMO games, they do not run as well and it's just awkward to me.
I don't care what it'll be like at this point, I'll leave my judgement until I see it. It better come outside of China!

Some better version of a facebook game with all the microtransactions to make rich of the impulsive-addicted mass.
When first I read the title, i was like "Yah, i hope they do atleast a good job", if they did things right; forcus on the PvP(BALANCE, not like WoW's ... w/e works use it), add in a massive world(perhaps adding more over time, and allow players to make secret bases and attack other clans, etc etc. I nice sandbox Naruto with lots of character customization.
2 Like Happy, then became pissed off after reading some more. Happy cause a Naruto MMO is being made. Mad cause its made by another cheap chinese dev and probably won't come to the US and will most likely be absolute trash. Why oh why did it have to turn out this way? Heres hoping I'm completely wrong. But, I won't get my hopes up.
A browser based game for the Naruto franchise? Really? I imagine this will probably be another brick and mortar MMORPG with generic everything. The Naruto universe has a lot of potential for a decent MMO, it's too bad it has to be such a low level one. Then again, it could be a complete surprise.
This has the potential of failure written all over it, but I'm more then happy to be surprised.
I would be more confident in this if it was not a browser-based game. Let's see how it turns out

It's poor taste to criticize something without knowing anything about it, but my personal expectations are low.
Ugh. Enough with this series already. We're going to be seeing Naruto games for the next 15 years like Dragon Ball Z aren't we?
@jinzo9988 Different from DBZ, Naruto (manga almost finished and anime ways to go still) is still being made. So every game that comes out adds the latest part that was made into the anime.
With this, every Naruto game adds something, DBZ games can't add anything since the anime ended a long time ago.
