Tendo Dokuta to perform more touch-screen surgery

By Hirohiko Niizumi

Series hero gets a new freshman intern in sequel to Spike's surgery sim for Japanese DS.

TOKYO--Japanese game maker Spike announced on its official Web site that it is making a sequel to its Nintendo DS adventure game, Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta. Not to be confused with fellow surgery sim Trauma Center, due for North American release in October, the new installment will be titled Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta 2: Inochi no Tenbin (Intern Doctor Tendo Dokuta: Weighing Life).

Details on Tendo Dokuta 2 are still scarce at the moment. Series protagonist and medical intern Tendo Dokuta returns for his second year of training, but this time there's a new freshman intern to spice things up. The original game required players to diagnose and operate on patients using the DS's stylus and touch screen. Spike says it has expanded on the first game's content and has improved the game system.

Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta was released in Japan at the end of last year but was never brought stateside. For information on the original Tendo Dokuta, check GameSpot's previous coverage.

Trauma Center was quite amusing in a way, I hope this may satisfy me the same way TC did. Have heard about this game and it's release dates being pushed further during previous occassions, hope it doesn't happen this time.
