PlayStation 4 version of The Witcher 3 will launch simultaneously alongside other platforms in 2014.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming to the PlayStation 4.
It will be the first time the series has been seen on a Sony platform. The Witcher 3 will be launched simultaneously on all "high-end" platforms when the game comes out in 2014, confirmed the Polish developer.
"We were thrilled when asked, several months ago, to be one of the developers who were granted early access to the PlayStation 4," said CD Projekt Red boss Adam Badowski.
"It was an exciting moment to be invited to be in the company of other legendary developers like Bethesda, EA, LucasArts, Ubisoft, or Activision as one of the teams working on titles shipping early in the PlayStation 4's life cycle. Of course, we couldn't reveal any specifics about this to our fans, even though many journalists and forum members asked about when and how The Witcher might show up on Sony's console."
"After yesterday's PlayStation Meeting, we can finally promise: The Witcher 3 is coming to the PlayStation 4," added Badowski.
"The new hardware gives us the opportunity to create something great. We are able to work with the new console from its birth and this allows our in-house REDengine 3 to push the graphical limits of what the PlayStation hardware can display. The console is fresh and has some innovative solutions that we're looking forward to using in our game," said Badowski.
The Witcher 3 was announced at the start of February, with many speculating then that the game would quickly be confirmed for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's next Xbox.

I hope they improve the combat. It was so tragically horrible that i couldn't keep the game. I like their business ethics, but can I get an improvement to something i spend probably 70 or 80% of the actual game doing?
So dissapointing having to play the same old dirty whitehair guy again... It's a waste of my time and i won't even buy it...
IDK which consoles - Please just allow me to create my own Characters and online pvp play with hoping up to 16 players. This is so my friends and i can form our own alliance - defending castle/land or offense taking over others players castle and womens at the same time...
@InvadingKnight Isn't that what silly MMORPGS are for? Lets leave the mature games, with great graphics and awesome gameplay alone now!
@InvadingKnight What...dude, go play Chivalry if you want to assault castles in PvP. There are games for that, The Witcher is not one of those.
Total Mischief - like the Chivalry but i hate first person RPG period - so that is why i never played it or pay any attention to it. Try DarkSouls (the best game for me 24/7 on it). I'm in both system ps3/360 - but i prefer Xbox 360. I am the Invading Knight in both System so come at me if anyone wants to see my skills and technique or sword fighting...
@petez34 @Sohereiam I played on 360. Not saying any console is better than the other, but I do agree that the combat system would be weird on a PC. I want to get into the Witcher 1 and see the differences and get the rest of the story to understand more. Put it into context. But I think it was still one of the best experiences I've gone through in a long time. A lot of things happen, and when you put it all together the story is really fleshed out and there are like...no plot holes. Really hard for people to do that nowadays. If anyone can correct me please do, and I'll gladly take the criticism lol
@InvadingKnight Oh yeah ? And I'll fucking outcook you any day. I bet I make ten hamburgers faster than you kill another player in Dark Souls. I'm invading cook in every kitchen. Now that this is said, let me reiterate my point: don't turn to The Witcher 2 if you want Dark Souls. Because it's not. End of story.
@Sohereiam I hated terribly the combat.. spam clicking and the UI was...big changes from W1(hate is not a strong word to describe it).
@InvadingKnight Are you serious? XD this person's a riot people! Oh my sides!!! He actually said "come at me" like it was a threat or something! This is too good. Thank you for being my entertainment of the day. By the way, shut up, The Witcher 2 was awesome and they don't need to change it that much to make it amazing.
@InvadingKnight Yea why dont they just not make it anything like the witcher at all. why dont they have star wars and elder scrolls characters. why dont they make the back story about how the death star was about to attack the land of Westeros during the time of the oblivion crisis while harry potter and the rest of his classman of witches use their powers to destroy Darth Lannister and the Imperial Empire.
@InvadingKnight yeah, they should make it exactly like ALL the other mmorpg's out there. with horrible control UI ripped from those crappy consoles. we could name it WoW...World of Witcher 3. good job that!
Guys! He- hey guys! Guys! Listen. What if- I said what if they, you know, they, the game developers. What if they, just hear me out, what if they made this game, from the ground up, for PC and then, get this, they kept it as a PC exclusive or only ported it to consoles after it was done.
I know. It sounds crazy, like something out of the 90's. Remember the 90's? Neither do I, but I think there might have been games back then. Possibly even first-person shooters on consoles before Halo, or even Goldeneye, whatever that is. Even PC games that stayed PC exclusive or were forced to work on consoles only after being made specifically for PC. Kinda like Quake, Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, and Starcraft 64, if those were ever ported to consoles. Like I said, I'm not sure, but that's what I've heard. But I think it, as unprecedented as it is, designing games for PC and porting them to consoles as an afterthought might actually work
That's not what The Witcher 2 did, though the developers did a fantastic job lying through their teeth right up to the Xbox 360 reveal like it was some sort of surprise.
@StinkySkunkGirl What proof do you have that they were lying?
@StinkySkunkGirl You want some cheese with that whine
@StinkySkunkGirl Who gives a rat's ass ? They make their games as good as possible on the PC, like they've shown with The Witcher 2, and that's what matters. Stop bitching. A great video game developer that focuses on quality and customer support, especially for the PC crowd (remember the Enhanced Edition ?), deserves all the money they can get. Money that will come from sales on all consoles.
I wish ps4 was the steambox. I know it sounds stupid but really, if I had to chose one massive conglomerate orgy of elite console creation, Nintendo and Xbox would die out and sony would appoint Sega as it's prime competitor for console creation. (to avoid monopoly laws, duh.) Meanwhile, all games are written for a Linux-based STEAM O.S which is found on any machine sold for the purpose of gaming. Also, real gamers buy an Android, as they should, and Apple dies, slowly.
That should work :)
Note: I'm joking. However Apple is a 50gal drum of sucksauce.
Would be nice if they also ported the first two games too, that way Playstation owners would be able to experience the whole series fully with their save files aswell.
@Evilnator That's something that irks me is that I have The Witcher for computer and then The Witcher 2 for 360...at least I get the core story but...it's just not the same as taking a save file and going through it with a character and having choices matter. Or at least change some sort of aspect. Oh well, good games anyways!
Martin Gaston, sir. There is a fellow on this website who is using your likeness as their profile image. You should be on the lookout for this individual, as anybody would be ashamed to be associated with such a person (talks lots of poopy). Sorry, I can't remember the User's name.
@Devils-DIVISION Ew. Who would want to use Martin Gaston as their profile image? You know, this might actually be a good thing. Now that somebody else is using his image, maybe he can start doing us a favor and use the default GameSpot G logo as his profile image.
No offense, Gaston. You're still better looking than Petit, and a much better writer than Petit and Makuch.
My two most wanted games. Dragon's Dogma was easily my game of 2012.
@Flexanite sorry to disappoint but deep down may not become a actual game it was just to show what there new engine can do but let's hope so because it looked awesome
Golden lines from Adam Badowski. "It was an exciting moment to be invited to be in the company of other legendary developers like Bethesda, EA, LucasArts, Ubisoft, or Activision"
@MatrixGamer78 EA and Activision are child-eaters, LucasArts is the company that never stops giving (us what we don't want) and Ubisoft are the company that never give (their games a release date they stick to).
Now I'd write something nice about Bethesda but I don't think I've got enough characters before my text starts to gli*\\@$"t$£ch.
@Apastron @MatrixGamer78 Nice things about Bethesda, how about like how there games are full of bugs and glitches, how after only 4 hours of play the game will crash on you, how they make and then charge people 3 dollars on a dlc about building a house, or how about they make a game for all 3 major systems 360/PS3/PC and then make dlc's for only the one console and make the people who bought the game for the one of the other two consoles wait practicly a year for the dlc to be available to them.
You ment nice things like those right?
@MatrixGamer78 Ea and Activision are legendary! YES!
This announcement doesn't excite me as ill always get Witcher titles on PC even though ill be picking up a PS4.
Also prefer mouse and keyboard for these games, just make sure you rebind space "dodge" to a better button like a side mouse button, so much better :D
Haha.....YEAH, mofos!! That's what's up!! W00T
Okay, I just had to let all that out, lol. Sweet even more extra incentive to get caught up on 1 & 2 (b/c I know damn well I wouldn't be able to 3 on my laptop by the time it comes out, lol)!
@Meta-Gnostic A gaming PC + A sony console=best combo ever! :D...You've the best of both worlds and in other words you're not a massive fan elitist!!
