I hope Full Spectrum warrior games helped them thourgh this bad patch, I have both and they are really good games.
Company now expects to lose money for the quarter based on change in WWE development strategy and poor performance of Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers.
THQ gave its investors a heads up on some good news and some bad news on the way after the end of trading yesterday, as the publisher warned investors that quarterly revenues would likely be higher then expected, but the small profit the company anticipated had turned into a likely loss.
For the company's fourth quarter of fiscal year 2006 (the three months that ended March 31), THQ is now projecting $150 million in sales (a bump of $15 million over previous expectations), but a net loss of $.13 per share. Previously the company had expected a net profit of $.02 per share.
THQ blamed the swing on a "change in its development strategy" for WWE games that sees all internal development on wrestling games cut. The company owns a minority portion of Yuke's, the Japanese studio that has handled its SmackDown! vs. Raw and Day of Reckoning WWE brands, and recently signed a long-term development agreement with the company.
Poor retail performance on the part of the recently released Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers was another factor cited in the downgraded expectations. THQ is expected to report its financial results for the quarter on May 5.
^^^I got news for you and your "beloved UBI," console games far outsell PC games, so if they expanded WWE games to PC it would likely not be worth the money or effort it takes.
THQ needs to put a title like WWE games on PC I wrote that to everyone work in this company for years Now its time to take The Consequences This is The diffrent between them and a Smart company like my beloved UBI
Truthfully i believe the only way to save THQ is for them to get rid of yukes and get back with AKI. I mean come on... the best WWF game was NO MERCY for the N64 the controls were so simple and easy 2 use, with the cool special power bar. Now the controls are wack and specials can be done at anytime once u get stars or whatever it is. So if THQ could bring back the control setup from NO MERCY with todays graphics that is what would save THQ from going down the drain. Seriously.......who did not like No Mercy.....only thing it need was a graphics upgrade and boom......best game series. i know many gamers out in the world would wish the control setup was like it was in the past. This is my opinion though...anyone else think they should get back with AKI?
Maybe this will start teaching companies like THQ a lesson. Release lackluster games, have lackluster sales.
dawn of war best rts for multiplayer ever so far. pure combat no resource managing all out war. they better make another one!!!
Not a surprise that Ten Hammers didn't do so well. I think it was released to soon after Advanced Warfighter which kind of holds a monopoly on the new war games at the moment.
That's a shame. I liked Full Spectrum Warrior but the reviews of Ten Hammers makes me pause because of the difficulty. I want a game that is fun, not a game so hard you have to redo the same thing over and over again. I'll probably pick it up after the price drops though.
THQ's PC line up looks pretty solid for later this year with the release of Company of Heroes, Titan Quest, and the newest Dawn of War Expansion. I would imagine all those will be seeing more daylight at E3 this year. In the console market however they are not faring very well it would seem.
thq did some good games back in the nes snes era , n64 games like rugrats scavenger hunt were good but since gc ps2 and xbox came thqs line up is based on nickolodean mostly cartoons of today none of them are party games etc i miss them good ol days of snes (tom and jerry ren and stimpy buckaroos were good 2 d platformers)
well my hopes for STALKER when it comes out hopefully earl 2007. Also THQ did publish the Dawn of War games which are good. So not all there games are bad.
i havent been buying their games for a while, and i dont have shares so who cares as long as they still publish horrible games
Thats to bad but not much of a surprise the game's they make mostly stink real bad.To bad about the War game that it could not help them make some money it was not that bad of a game.
Heh...the worlds always been on a tilt... After all if 50 Cent can make you money Review: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/50centbulletproof/index.html?q=50%20cent And Full Sprectrum lose money Review: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/fullspectrumwarriortenhammers/index.html?q=Full%20Spectrum Why expect anything else?
I hate THQ solely for the reason that whenever you boot up one of their games, it takes an hour for them to play their logo and have that damn innoying music that takes forever. I consider this payback
THQ is publishing the forever delayed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game that may never see the light of day. Sucks....
Great, THQ comes to it's sences and announces a "Smackdown" title for a system that can handle it, and now it seems that they're gonna screw it up... great... when are we gonna get an ENGLISH Fire Pro Wrestling for a system other than GBA?
