Gears of War is probably out of the charts here because there are like no copies left on the shelves. I can count the number of games stores I visit that haven't sold out thier stock of GoW on one finger.
Burning Crusade scorches to the top of the UK game charts, knocking Lost Planet: Extreme Condition down to second place.
Few things are a certainty in the video game world, but given the huge crowds that gathered in London for the launch of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, it was a fairly safe bet that the game would arrive at the top of last week's UK all-formats game chart.
Not only did Blizzard's expansion pack manage a number one debut, but it also became the UK's second-fastest-selling PC game of all time behind Championship Manager 04. Chart-Track reports that the title accounted for 30 percent of all PC games sold last week. The release of The Burning Crusade has also helped the original World of Warcraft back into the top 40--the game reentered at number 28.
Despite the arrival of Blizzard's massively multiplayer behemoth, the rest of the chart remained largely unchanged. The chart-topping entry has merely knocked last week's top four games down a place each, with Lost Planet: Extreme Condition at number two followed by WarioWare: Smooth Moves, FIFA 07, and Pro Evolution Soccer 6.
The most impressive rise of the week goes to Sega's World Snooker Championship 2007, which jumped from 17 to six thanks no doubt to the Masters tournament coming to a close in London this week. The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by chart stalwarts, with Need for Speed Carbon at seven, Call of Duty 3 at eight, The Sims 2: Pets at nine, and Canis Canem Edit (Bully in the US) at 10.
The Burning Crusade's dominance can also be felt further down the chart, with precious few new entries making their way into the Top 40. The budget PC game market has had a revival, with titles such as Galaxy of Games Red, Sega Rally, and Sonic Mega Collection Plus holding positions from 20-40. The Burning Crusade's reign doesn't face any major challenges next week, with only the releases of Star Fox Command on the Nintendo DS and Rocky Balboa on the PlayStation Portable likely to make an appearance in the charts.
Chart uk_sales for date 2007-01-23 02:40:38
Gears of War has fallen out of the top 10 in UK sales. I'm still thinking i'm making a mistake in not yet buying Lost Planet, but i figure it isn't going anywhere, i can always pick it up later.
ps2 has two more years minimum......the xbox is totally gone....gamecube gone already last year....pc is forever the no.1 platform..yeah....of course this doesnt have anything to do with the list....its a solid list with no suprises apart from world pool championship 2007...i guess.. Oh by the way, Blizzard guys are totally swiming in money...2.4 million x 50 = 120 millions....IN ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!damm
With regards to Bully would love to see a chart where games traded in were deducted from the amount sold. Its amazing what a load of moaning politicians, who wouldn't know how to turn a PS2 on let alone play the game, can do for sales. They seem oblivious to the fact that the character in the game is not the BULLY of the title, and for Gamespots information the game isn't even called that in the UK. Its sold a shed load on the back of all the publicity. The TV and papers keep bringing up a case where one lad killed another and that a copy of "Manhunt" was found that "obviously" incited the child to kill someone else... they keep very quiet about the small matter that the game was owned by the VICTIM and there was no evidence that the killer had even played the game.
Bully may have sold a lot, but at the second hand shop i work inj, we have nearly 50 copies lying around, and more coming in. So it can't be all that great...
"washimul clean sweep by ps2 GOOOOOOOOO sonyyyyyyyyyyyyy " So wen did World of Warcraft, Warioware, The Sims Pets and Lost Planet hit the PS2? Must have missed that on the news.
"Mkeegs79 TTDog Surely all the PS2 games listed, with the exception of Bulyy are multiformat sales, I can't imagine the PS2 version of World Pool (Snooker?) Championship 2007 sold that many copies on its own, and all versions of Need For Speed, FIFA, Call of Duty etc are listed on the right as related games. WRONG! It is for that specific format. " You might want to check other posts out as well, such as.. "Irve ~sigh~ how many times .. how many times Game spot need to sort out the listing ... UK charts are multi format so sales of ALL consoles give a title it's place in the top 10 ... " and take note of the listing of all the different versions of each game to the right of the main story, that way you won't come over as such a massive Sony fanboy, even if you claim to own a 360. The UK charts include all formats, thats why all the versions available are listed and thats why the peice was headed up "UK GAME CHARTS" not "UK PC CHARTS" or "UK PS2 CHARTS", logical reasoning, but as you're an American commenting on UK charts, and studies have shown half the population of America struggles to find Europe on a map, logic probably doesn't enter into your comment.

Sanguis_Malus, mate. it a hell a lot better looking then the Aussie chart and everybody else, the PS2 will continue to dominate these charts for many more months as almost everybody has one and the PS2 is cheap and afraid to let go of their money for an unproven PS3 system
This is a touch better than usual, sometimes the UK games charts can look like Euro-pop ! Still, as a UK gamer I often cringe when I see the chart !
~sigh~ how many times .. how many times Game spot need to sort out the listing ... UK charts are multi format so sales of ALL consoles give a title it's place in the top 10 ... that said the bulk of most of those titles sales will be PS2 .. if your confussed look to the right ... at the related games !
