Wait a monkee - I posted my previous post hastily - now I see that GS is not going to have a forum - and we have to settle for the ugly, aggressive, fascist GF board??? WHy would they kill the popular GS board and keep the crappy GF board? How many people were using GFs board? Like 5? Everybody else has been banned and warned to the point that there's nobody left to participate! The only way I would stay with GS after this is if GF's board and its anal mod staff were completely replaced by GS staff. They would also have to give us an official burning of GFs board policies. GF was great before they were bought out, but they are by far one of the most displeasing boards on the internet now - what awful news.
The next phase in the shared game boards.
The next phase in our GameSpot and GameFAQs breakup has been made this morning. Some of you will notice the following:
- All games now have a game board, thanks to everyone's feedback. You will still see some genre boards and series boards around the site, but for the most part there should not be anymore confusion about a missing game board.
- The GameFAQs crossover boards will no long be accessible, but you may continue to read the discussions. With this change, you will no longer be confused about why you received a moderation mark in your moderation history.
I am welcoming a split of the boards, because I am tired of Gamefaqs mods OVER- MODDING and giving me warnings for stuff that is fine to post at Gamespot. Gamefaqs boards are way too anal and trying to control the boards like its a kindergarten class; I rarely post anything to GF boards and the crossover thing was stupid when you get a warning from a board you weren't even talking to in the first place. Gamespot has NEVER given me a warning - only stupid GF, and as I said I wasn't even posting to them and frankly I thought it was none of their damn business in the first place. Thank God for the split.
whose dumb idea was this? Treating GS users like this, I'd send him a 3 month bonus and a resume maker.
so i guess gamespot is going to stop existing...unprofitable i guess...kind of sux since looks like the gamespot boards do not exist anymore....can not post in them,
"All games now have a game board, thanks to everyone's feedback. You will still see some genre boards and series boards around the site, but for the most part there should not be anymore confusion about a missing game board."
I think is a really good idea. As far as Gamefaqs, I've never logged onto that site before, anyway.
Sooooo, when are the new forums being implemented? I don't want to have to go to GameFAQs just to post, would prefer to do it on this site.

@Gelugon_baat So bitter.
We were just allowed to post on their boards lol, we have no contact with them whatsoever, and if you were moderated or banned, that would just take effect on their site. It would be no different than actually signing up and posting there instead.
What, you thought this is a glorious declaration of independence or something? This was either GameFAQs getting rid of us, yes, GameFAQs, or just another brilliant proposition by Staff.
@Gelugon_baat Not sure why you're so adamant on defending this thing, but in response to your statement, yes, those who paid for the premium do want better forums. A lot of the incentive in premium membership is for the added features on the forums. And the people who paid for premium do mainly use the forums. So why wouldn't this bother them? If I was paying monthly to use a website and then all of a sudden their forums became useless, I'd be pretty peeved by it.
@illuminatirexx exactly.. they've made it so confusing now that you're left either trying to figure out where the useless empty new GS boards are or you're ordered to leave GS altogether and head over to GF.
How can that possibly be good for this site? Did they just run out of ideas on how to further destroy the use of being a member of this site? I honestly feel bad for those people who pay for the premium membership service. Money down the toilet since the forums have become utterly useless.
@Victorious_Fize so the gamespot boards do not exist anymore then.....and if we want to post ...we need to abandon gamespot and go to the other site...
@Gelugon_baat Hi. I am a whiny bitch, but at least I am no Gelugon_baat.
@Gelugon_baat How can staying with GF kill this site moreso than not?
To also add I am now a level 1 on gamefaqs when I am actually a Level 32 on gamespot? I know levels are pointless but not when other members use that against you saying "move along people nothing to see here, just a level 1 troll" um nope! Ha
Level 1 on GameFAQs means that your account is Read-Only. That level means you can't post with that account on GameFAQs. If you want to get your account upgraded to a higher level so it can post, you will have to fill out this form: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/feedback/index.php?type=27
Your level at GF doesn't come from Gamespot, it depends solely upon how much you use GF. I probably have the lowest karma of anyone there, since I never post at GF.
Yeah bad idea. I like posting on gamespot. I dont like or use gamefaqs. Why change something that worked fine ??? I don't want to have to go to a different site. I am use to this one.
I agree with what appears to be the general consensus that this is a bad decision. I'm a paying member of GS, and my primary interest is in the game forums...the list of Favorites I've compiled over 8 years, the names and faces I look for, etc. NOW you're telling me that I basically have to start from scratch? Rebuild lists, wait for more members to migrate, whatever? Man, that's bad. At least I can save $40 bucks when my renewal comes due.
Wow, this actually makes a lot of sense
I know its something the mod team (or maybe just myself at the time) has wanted for quite awhile

Like I said there has to be a better solution to this thing than just forcing a board migration. At this point you either have to "discuss" on the new boards (which as I said, are pretty much barren wastelands) or you're forced to leave GS altogether. This is their big solution to overzealous GF mods? How about changing the rules so that GF mods aren't responsible for GS users? Or how about assigning specific mods to specific boards? Either way they could've thought of a different solution than just forcing us to leave.
And I know what you're gonna say, "give it time." Sure, I guess SOME level of activity will continue on the new boards, but it will be nothing compared to the activity we already have on the shared boards. And who knows when things will actually pick up? I don't want to wait a month before I can get any good discussions going, I want to post NOW! Thanks a lot GS.. this is how you repay me for being an active user on this site for close to 10 years now? Smh.
@wwervin the biggest problem with the merged boards was the fact that it required the code of two separate websites to somehow work together. GSers had to put up with forums that couldn't manage most of the features they were used to and a poor moderation system, while new features on gamefaqs were stalled because the code added to support gs made them difficult to develop, so on that basis this is a better deal all around. The new gs game boards will no doubt be dead but that's probably a trivial concern compared to what both sites are getting out of this.
So I can no longer post in the game discussion boards unless I sign into GF? Oh.. wait, there's still the "game board" except nobody posts there.. dumb update. It was fine the way it was before.

@Gelugon_baat I understand the cultural barrier but for the most part I think those kinds of things subside. Surely there's a better way of doing things than saying "sorry GS, you can't post here anymore. Tough cookies." The GS specific game boards are hollow and unused. What am I supposed to discuss there when there's no community?
So you would like the idea of a Gamefaqs moderation showing up on your moderation history here? Not me.
This is horrible, having joint boards was perfect, now people who use GameSpot are going to have to look in two places for answers/new information as opposed to one
We still have platform boards. I use them all the time, I open up a game-specific thread for the platform I game on, and I always get responses.
"- All games now have a game board, thanks to everyone's feedback" Cracking job, let's just hope they'll become active now
I was fine the way it was and on the general game boards right now it seems to be almost dead compared to the separate boards for each game console. I guess if it picks up then it will be fine again.
