I'm getting tired of this whole "aliens" thing, its promoting a bad stereotype and isn't doing anything for the videogame industry. I tend to stay away from these games because I know that they will most likely underwhelm me and are just a ploy to make a quick buck. *cough* HALO! *cough*
Action RPG set in sci-fi universe coming in summer 2007; single-player, cooperative modes feature 20 weapons, 100 different enemies.
Yesterday, Sega announced that it would be publishing games based on the universe of the Alien films. Today, the company revealed it will be releasing Alien Syndrome in 2007--a game about a heroine who takes on a dangerous race of outer-space inhabitants. However, though the similarities may be uncanny, this isn't the first game based on Alien or any of its sequels.
Alien Syndrome is instead based on the classic Sega arcade game, which later made appearances on home consoles in the late 1980s. The game will be released on the Wii and PlayStation Portable simultaneously in the summer of 2007. The action role-playing game is being developed by Totally Games, which also worked on the space-flight-combat X-Wing series for the PC.
Playing as Earth Command Trooper Aileen Harding, gamers will take on more than 100 different types of aliens and learn new abilities and skills as they progress. Aiding players in their cause are 20 different weapons, including quad-barreled lasers, nanobot swarms, and more conventional flamethrowers.
Accompanying Aileen is an indestructible robot that serves as both an ally in battle and a vendor from which she can buy items. The robot can also upgrade existing weapons and can upgrade itself with new abilities.
The PSP version will feature cooperative play for up to four players through the handheld's Wi-Fi capabilities.

Always good to hear more support for my portables. It's great to own both DS and PSP...I don't miss out on anything. :)
I hope the people making the big decisions over at Sega are reading this forum. PLEASE include the ORIGINAL ARCADE version of Alien Syndrome on this game disc as well!!! It will sell so much better if you do! Just look at all the people remarking about it.
And a ff tactics remake has recently been announced for psp! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155876 It has also confirmed by IGN.
"whats the life span of this psp.. i keep hearing they stopped making games and movies but then i see new junk, maybe their milking it for this holiday season" MGS OPs, Crisis Core FF7, Devil May Cry, GTA VCS, Tekken, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Classic collections, ps1 emulator(PS games constantly being added to the list), Call of Duty, Rainbow Six, WWE,Dungeon and Dragons Tactics, Ratchet and Clank, Granturismo, Dungeon Siege, Sonic Rivals, and etc... (Alot more) have recently been released or will be future released. The psp isn't flopping. Like the person before me said it has sold a good amount of units, the only thing is in japan tons and tons and tons of ds have been sold, so ppl think the psp is a flop when it actually isn't.
Might be worth a rental. It always cracks me up when everyone says the PSP is doing so poorly... The PSP has sold a very respectable amount of units. The DS has sold a gazillion units, so by comparison, any other console looks like it is doing poorly. Don't quote me on this but I believe the PSP has sold alot more than the Xbox 360 and no one is predicting the demise of Microsoft yet.
It's kinda interesting that they've given the PSP the nod over the DS. While sales of the PSP have increased dramatically over the current holiday season, the DS Lite is still cleaning it's clock. Hope they do a good job on this one as it's one of my all time fave arcade games back when Sega was actually SEGA and not some pretender claiming to be.
thanks jwmakoto, i've been wondering about that.... and shtinky is that true ??? about the wii or is is just lies and hate cause sony is doing sooo poorly.
They never stopped making games or movies for PSP... some big retailers just decided to stop stocking UMD movies hehe. Basically the format's gone down the drain for portable movies, as people would rather play them off memory sticks. And while the number of good games for the PSP can be debated, they haven't stopped making games for it by any means.

dukerav Too bad no DS, and yes completely stupid that the PSP gets co-op over the Wii, lame. I thought Totally Games did an ok job with the X-Wing vs Tie Fighter series, although still nowhere as good as either X-wing or Tie Fighter, hopefully Alien Syndrome turns out ok as well. . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually, it never says that Wii does not get co-op play, just that PSP does get it. The game is not supposed to come out till Q3 2007. They are probably still trying to figure out exactly what they are going to do with the Wii version and don't know if they will be able to do coop or not.
That co-op mode through Wi-Fi sounds neat. I think that the game has a good idea, and I surely hope the devs don`t ruin it in the end.
yes! Action RPG! :D Now its gonna be interesting :D..I was worried it would try to be like those PC RPGs. coz if it was. then it would FAIL(as its very difficult to have such a game and be Very good at the same time, only few achieved it)
Aw, I was hoping maybe they were basing it on Alien Storm..(Especially when the robot got mentioned.) Anyone else remember that game? It was like a futuristic version of Golden Axe.
diablos101 "hehe i knew this was coming out before gamespot, have some mate whos testing it ^_^ "\ CONGRATULATIONS, do you want a cookie?

Yes! Alien Syndrome gets an update. Now all we need are Fantasy Zone and Zillion! (Oh please please please give us Zillion!!) Master System lives!!!
