Wii Remote getting built-in Motion Plus?

@johneese: Truth be told I'm not really a big fan of any of the consoles from this generation, but the Wii was innovative, unlike the PS3 and XBox 360 which are basically just HD updates of their previous consoles. Anyway if graphics can 'make or break' a console how is the Wii the highest selling console this generation by such a big margin? I hate all the talk about graphics because only narrow-minded gamers think they enhance games.

@widdowson91 Ok first of all, id like to make it clear that nintendo is the only company that has made motion sensing decent, the kinect and move launch titles arent even 'real' games, more like tech demos. Motion sensing at this point is still shotty, somewhat unresponsive and laggy. The Wii at a technical standpoint is a gamecube, with motion sensing. with Minor graphic enhancements. People who bought the wii wanted to try out motion sensing, being as it was the only console with motion sensing. The reason i called u a fanboy is because you replied to almost everyone saying negative things about the wii, and you have a pretty narrow mind to how 'casual gamers' like their games. Just because someone plays a wii does not make them a casual gamer, or if they are one, they'd prolly enjoy some decent graphics. "graphics dont make games, gameplay does" ive heard about a million times from defending wii fbois, which is true, but we're in a technical era where graphics can EASILY make or brake a certain game. Nintendo could have easily put a then top notch vid card, ram and cpu, but they didnt. Instead, they put in motion sensing. I do hate the wii, it was a waste of money, but nintendo (games) will forever be my favourites. Im just waiting for the next one.

@BunSnatcher0001 your calling me a retard yet your the one crying about comments because you have no idea what your saying. the wii and the move are the same thing the move just has better graphics and better movement its practically the same thing just improved so it is like a lambo and honda you idiot one just perfoms better but do the same purpose. sony's eyetoy was more like the kinect and had no controller and was horrible in everyway so before you start calling out people why dont you think before you start siding with one system the wii price will still be the best selling point since the move and kinect have to fork up another 130 and 150 dollars plus the money for the system. i have all 3 systems and have no intent on wastin money on more motion equipment when i already a wii that does it just fine.

@widdowson91 I would disagree beyond all reckoning that Sony had a console in the 90s with a bad library, as the PS1 had an unbelievable collection of games. If the current consoles had half the amount of quality games the PS1 had, I'd be flat broke. But hey, I'm not worried about Nintendo, I'm just saying they'll have to change course within the next generation of consoles, or at least after that, if they want to remain competitive. Lets just agree its going to be exciting as always to see what they do next.

@hatieshorror yes, the one drawback I've wanted them to fix, the wire on the nunchuck :( too bad they don't make a receiver in this remote that "syncs" with any nunchuck for wireless nunchuck capability :D

If Id had predicted this I would have hesitated to buy Wii Play and a second Motion Plus but Nintendo do you think you can do research on a wireless Nunchuk.

@djwood84: Well fair enough comment mate. But Sony were the same in the 90's as Nintendo are now in terms of having a console full of rubbish shovelware titles, but it sold so Sony never complained, and the same for Nintendo at the moment. But I'll tell you something. The Wii was never going to be released. The Wii was at first going to be an add on for the GameCube, but they never released it like that. Nintendo were half way through developing a new HD console, but when they saw the specs of the PS3 they knew that to out sell it they'd have to do something drastically different, hense they deciding to release the Wii. I'm not worrying about Nintendo at all, they aren't stupid. The Wii won't come back to bite them because of the ammount of money they got off it. Within a week or so of the release Nintendo were into profit off the Wii, they have miles more money over Sony ready to develop their next console. Nintendo's fufture will be fine.

@widdowson91 As I stated, I haven't played a 3DS. I'm not "recycling rumors" or anything like that, I've spent a lot of time studying 3D technology and the way the 3DS does it is genius, but still needs some work. I think the 2nd edition or 3rd edition 3DS will likely have worked a lot of these issues out. As for what I meant about Nintendo "maturing", I didn't mean they have to start making games for the 18 year old FPS addict. What I meant was that they can't spend another console generation behind the competition in terms of graphics and system capabilities. It WILL come back to bite them, eventually. Yes, Nintendo deserves the utmost respect. They did help pioneer many first in the gaming world, and the SNES is (imho) the best console ever created. I simply see more gimmicks out of Big N lately than I do solid ideas.

@Sirbobislost Sony took the idea of a camera add-on from Nintendo. And there are some games on Game Boy Camera that use your gestures to play. I remember a Wario Game Boy Game that did.

Oy if sony stole the idea of a motion controller then Nintendo stole the idea of it from air mice..... only they added in the infrared bar for the lulz! Still all in all 360/PS3 has pretty/shallow games and lowest common denominator titles and the WII has impersice cotrol and to many shovel ware titles. SO all in all half of modern gaming sucks and costs way to much.... uhhggggg.... zippy kitty is getting old 0-o

@ nini200 Why would sony steal the idea for a motion sensing camera from nintendos standard camera? Would it be more likely they got the idea from actual motion sensing cameras?

I agree with you on the software when it came to the Wii they just dint support it at all the only real motion game is gonna be Skyward Sword other than that the wii really has no motion.. it just picks up a few slash moves and triggers what would have been a button press, but again like you said its because the game devs never took a chance with the Wii. I bet allot of us can make solid games when it comes to motion..they are thinking to much, motion = relax and let the gamer do it..but no Red Steel 2 is an ex. that game says Motion Plus but nothing you cant even do a proper wrist move. ugh ...they mess motion up..something so easy to do... the future of video games will be recycle trash if this keeps up...its kinda like that now.

I can see the meeting now, "Let's recall our dual shocks again after we just recalled them for that horrendous boomerang design and since we see Nintendo putting motion in their controllers, why not put some form of motion in ours?" Backwards compatibility existed with the Game Boy. Game Boy color played Game Boy games as did Game Boy advance. Sega Nomad played Genesis games as well. Sony even took the PS Eye from the Game Boy Camera. CD's? Are you smoking? CD based gaming existed waaaaayyyy before Sony PS had it. Cdi, 3DO, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, NeoGeo CD and many more. Now again, what were you saying about what sony did? Besides DVD and Blu-Ray playability in a console, I sure don't see much.

Lol Mad Krips Sony did not innovate rumble in a controller. Ever heard of a thing on N64 called a Rumble Pak? All Sony did was put it inside the controller. Some innovation... Also as far as network gaming goes, Sony didn't do that either. Nintendo and Sega had it waaayyy back during the snes and Genesis, it was called the "Xband". You should look it up. Oh and what did Nintendo 64 bring, How about the first platform to successfully bring about 3D platformers (aka, Super Mario 64) for which games like Assassin's Creed, DMC, Uncharted and more. How about the first system to bring about successful 3d shooters (aka Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark 64) which paved the way for the games such as Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Killzone, Red Faction and more. Sony even stole the design of their controller from Nintendo. All a dual shock is, is a Snes controller with analogs, 2 extra shoulder buttons and vibration. Now one thing Sony did bring to the table was DVD playability in a console. That was a good innovation and I give them credit for that as that was a really good idea. Pressure sensitive buttons was a good idea but all it works well for driving games.

lol SlickkWilly These are the days of micro-transactions, paid DLC, and controller addons/extras. It seems we are no longer getting complete products are we? Sony seems to be the one who's giving us most complete machines and accessories no BS, even tho they've been slowly removing features over the years (at least they're not selling them back to us separately, and add extra storage space for less $). Microsoft at this point is just notorious for selling things in overpriced pieces, down to the batteries for their controllers. They have another new 'updated' one coming out soon too.

@xtremeflem2day Because Nintendo is already known for there motion controller console it's been known that for years. Even if Motion Plus was sold on the side Sony can't just jump in with Sony's Move and expect graphics and online play to get people to think Sony's the Motion console to buy when it was released as a non motion console. There going to have to convince people to not buy a Wii "with motion already" and pick up a PS3 + Move package for ALOT more and that's going to be tough.

I traded in my Wii last year, just got too kiddie, got the PS Move a few days ago, and HANDS DOWN it smokes the Wii control. It is soooo much more accurate and comfortable to hold. It doesn' hurt that the games look so much better and some have camera support to put yourself in the game and not a silly avatar. It may take a while to get some really decent games but for the Move, but Sony did a nice job with it.

This stealing ideas crap is just not thought out. All controllers in the last sixteen years have been modeled off of the original PlayStation controller. I can't remember was this stealing claims going on when Microsoft and Nintendo first developed theirs? I mean the classic controller plus feels pretty close to a dual shock. Come off it already. If people like it, they will all make similar models. The PlayStation and Microsoft products are too superior tech wise. No one can dispute that. If you like your wii mote better, fine. But give it a rest now. my whine... I'm still bent certain companies keep marketing new controllers and accessories that must be bought to play a few titles here and there and that I have been suckered into buying them. no more no more I say. :P Now there just reselling pieces together We used to be friends Nintendo. You just keep taking and not giving much back. I think it is time we see other people.

lol @nini200 I'm sure Sony stole the DualShock idea (built in vibration and dual analog sticks), pressure sensitive buttons (dualshock 2 onwards), putting CD, DVD and BluRay media functionality into their consoles, and having backwards compatibility. Nintendo still doesn't even have structured online gaming. Tell me what about the N64 and GameCube were original? Apart from the Pikachu game you could talk to, and maybe the WaveBird as a wireless controller.

@honorofgod i have a wii and ps3, got the move on launch with sports champion and eye pet, also play heavy rain with move. i play in a room with two huge windows on two different sides in colorado where the sun is shining 80% of the time, so needless to say it can get very bright in my gameroom. i have not had any problems using the move. as for wii being better, some games work well others not so much but in the games that didn't work well it was clear the problem was software and not the move. in my opinion the games that worked were as good as wii with many being better.

MMOPlayer22 - Nintendo is highly regarded as the leading innovators in gaming. Their typical business plan (and reason they are still around) is that when competition gets tough in a battle field, just create a new place to do battle. How is that anything other than innovation? The Gamecube didn't to so well simply because it was no different than what the competition was offering. Nintendo wasn't foolish enough to make the same mistake again, so they made the Wii and created a new market. Now, per usual, everyone else is doing the same. Nintendo's latest ideas may no be geared towards the hardcore gamers, but that doesn't make them any less innovative. Such thoughts are bias.

So, Nintendo is trying to win back support by making their techonologically inferior brand competitive again by giving us a free add on that makes thier wiimote work better? Wow, and I thought Nintendo didn't care about gamers... Sarcasm.

3rd party Wii controller makers already make this! Same size as the original controller, they showed it in this month's Game Informer. Sounds like Nintendo doesn't want to lose out on any peripheral sales since that's where all their cash comes from. I don't blame them tho.

Still the cycle remains: Nintendo creates, Sony and Microsoft Steals and gets famous for it. Nintendo is the only creative hardware company left. The others rehash old formula's of just upgrading graphics. Sega was the only other console that was as creative as Nintendo when they were making Hardware. It also boggles me as to why Sony can't come up with anything on their own because Sony as a whole is AWESOME with Technology. Their TV's are Awesome, the Xseries of phones are Awesome, their components are awesome and more.

Wii 2 now. Sorry but you Nintendo, are losing out.

@BunSnatcher0001 the move and kinect are wiping the floor with something they copied completely? the kinect is going to fail horribly you cant have a game without some sort of buttons so its going to suck and the move is the same as the wii just with better graphics.and you obviously dont know what your talking about with retirement homes being the biggest buyers actually its not. the move and kinect are going to do the same thing that nintendo does except make games for older audiences and lower the fun factor. nintendo might be for kids but got the funnest games

@mad_krips I knew someone would say this tuff, let me explain in more detail: "made extremely better than wii" sn't specific and counts as nothing:P "less buttons" yes, I meant usable at one time. Move has 5 buttons that can only be used up to two at once, with the wii mote it's the same held the same amount of buttons but a direction pad is more "usable" than four buttons. I mainly meant sideways it has more buttons accesible;) "Nav neccesary" yes it is if you need any kind of direction pad to move around, now all the games that need you to "walk" by your controls will need the nav;) "yes it is more expensive, wiimote is the same but nav costs more, PS3 itself also costs more but that really doesn't count since I'm talking about move not the PS3 console;) wait, classic controller is for "optional" or non motion based games, doesn't count since PS3 lso has a "twice" as expensive controller for non-motion based games ;) "PS3 bad games"I meant "move" games, not the console games as a whole;)

@ hotdiddykong Yeah, but, tbh, I really can't be bothered with the wii lately. Most of the time, the only games worth trying are mario or zelda, which is fine, if you don't mind playing a dozen mario games. One major problem is the price; in Australia, a new wii game is about $70-$100; that's for a game with no dlc, 480p, and most likely intended for children, or teens at best. Like I said, it has some great games, but it is really hard to take it seriously when Nintendo doesn't. Wii 2 has 3D but not HD? Get bent. The DSi currently has more functions that a wii console, for goodness sakes. That said, I'll take a look at that Zack and Wiki you mentioned. Thanks.

when low on cash sell more controllers Nintendo. Give me a break. we have all bought extra controller, classic, classic pro, motion plus, steering wheel, guns. Every one of them only have one or two titles worth playing with them. This adds up to a very expensive old gen tech console with very few games worth buying. Keep your crap Nintendo, I am not buying any more. bitter yea. I got this pale full of Nintendo accessories that are good for nothing. I've been had. Next time sell the controller how you want it the first time instead of milking money out of everyone when your losing ground.

yeah Nintendo should have came out this when motion plus first hit. Right its like buying an erector set. So many parts and so much money to have a full set of fully capable controllers.
