Willem Dafoe to costar in Beyond: Two Souls - Report

Source says 'Spider-Man,' 'Boondock Saints' actor to join Ellen Page in Quantic Dream's new PS3 game, more stars to be announced later.
Quantic Dream's upcoming narrative-focused PlayStation 3 game Beyond: Two Souls has tapped another Hollywood actor, according to a new report. BroGamer (via Games Industry International) cites a source saying the previously confirmed Ellen Page (Juno, Inception) will be joined by Spider-Man and The Boondock Saints actor Willem Dafoe. His role in the game is not known.
Page provides the voice and likeness for Jodie Holmes, a mysterious young woman with powers, in Beyond: Two Souls. It is not known what role Dafoe might take, or if his likeness will feature in the game.
As of press time, Quantic Dream had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment regarding Dafoe's rumored inclusion in Beyond: Two Souls.
Dafoe is no stranger to gaming. The 56-year-old lent his voice and likeness to 2004's James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, in which he played an ex-KGB agent named Nikolai Diavolo. Additionally, Dafoe played The Green Goblin/Norman Osborn in 2002's Spider-Man: The Movie.
Beyond: Two Souls was announced during Sony's 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing earlier this month. Quantic Dream studio head David Cage claimed the game would be emotional, mature, and unique, going on to say he wants to create moments that players remember for a long time.
[UPDATE]: Quantic Dream has since stated that Willem Dafoe will not appear in the game.

Yay! This totally made we go from "not wanting to buy it because of Ellen Page" to... "buy it, love Willem Dafoe." The Hunter movie was awesome! You guys must watch..

Great news. I hope it's true. I'd be really surprised if his likeness wasn't in the game given Quantic's desire to combine the voice recording and motion capture.
Introducing Hollywood stars in video game industry is really unprecedented(Brutal Legend isn't count because that's only voice acting). Way to go Quantic Dream!!!

1 Like Beyond Two Souls news just keeps getting better :) Im so excited for this game! This and Watch Dogs are top on my most wanted list now, surprisingly beating GTA5, Borderlands 2, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider, and The Last Of Us, which are all pretty darn amazing and have got me excited to play.
I still remember watching the first Spider-Man film and thinking "yeah, this is okay", until Dafoe's character started arguing with himself in the mirror. It was the only time in the whole film he didn't upstage everyone else, because he was the only one in the scene :)

You seriously do not know who he's gonna be playing? Did you not recognise him as the SWAT captain in the footage?
@boll_sucks ...hmmm nope, not at all. In fact I doubt that'd be him. Besides, the SWAT captain's facial animation was pretty plain (in the limited footage we saw this foor) compared to Ellen Page's and the Police officer doing the interrogation...
I liked in heavy rain he used unknown actors. Dont get me wrong, I love that Ellen Page is going to get a chance to show outside of her normal self, but Im worried that this might be an attempt to sell games in terms of forcing a star studded cast. That being said, I love Willem dafoe, the dude is freaking epic.
@DevilD2005 Well hopefully the game does sell more so they can keep 'em coming! I don't see how we're losing anything... it's not like you can recognize the actors that much since they're sorta "digitized" and I'm sure Page will do a good job = )
atleast theyre using real actors this time.
Heavy rain was a good game but the voice acting made it very hard to finish.
1 Like This game is the turning point for acting performances in games and cinematic gameplay. I was sold with Ellen Page, but this took it a step further. How couldn't this be awesome when Quantic Dream's storytelling is blended into the mix?

The man has delivered several masterful performances in his career and you pick that turd of a movie to identify him? Shame on you Eddie Makuch.
Genius, dadoe is awsome love the boondock saints he was creepy and bad ass at the same time.
2 Like Willem Dafoe is a great actor, and it would be great to see him get on board with this title.
Normally I'm not sure that video games really need high profile actors to voice the characters - many would do just as well with less well-known voice actors. But for character-driven games like Beyond: Two Souls, which will focus more on the story and performances of the characters on screen, I think it is justified to use some of the best talent available.
How that impacts the eventual development budget is a concern, because higher costs require higher sales to break even - and that can often lead to compromises in other areas of the gameplay.
Wow, someone at Quantic is really on point these days. I just hope they don't go and muck it up with the 'additional Hollywood talent'. Imagine: Page, Dafoe, and...Reeves?? "Whoa" indeed.
That's cool, I think he's got a really cool voice, I recognize it so easy when I hear it, it's like Morgan Freeman and the list goes on and on.
