First of all this is a good game line. Second, it is SO GOOD to see something other than a blood bath on the horizon! You will all understand now when I say that the Wii U is looking good...
Retailer listings suggest longtime sidekick getting own game for new system; will offer dual-screen play and Miiverse integration.
Longtime Mario sidekick Yoshi is featured in Wii U launch game Nintendo Land, but he may be getting a game of his own. Listings at Best Buy and its subsidiary Future Shop for "Yoshi's Land" have appeared and even revealed details about the unannounced game.
The product description for Yoshi's Land says players will see Yoshi as never before: in high definition. Additionally, the game will make use of the Wii U GamePad for dual-screen play and will also boast "full integration" with Nintendo's social service Miiverse.
A Nintendo representative was not immediately available for comment.
Finally! I have to get this.Got tired of NSMB.Any way is mario fucking yoshi instead of toad like in that other Thumbnail?
Nintendo has finally figured it out. Don't announce first party titles until just before release...give third party developers a chance to sell their product to an audience who traditionally only buys first pary software. Interested to see how that will work out for them.
Hold off announcing first party titles? At this point isn't it a given that we'll get Mario, Metroid, Zelda and Donkey Kong games regularly?
@LordelX Hmm... Do you think the 3DS would have had a better launch had Nintendo never announced its 1st party titles? Their strategy for it was to hold off to allow 3rd party titles a chance to sell, but people were already well aware of what was coming.

This is one of those games that just couldn't be done on the crappy ps3, xbox could probably pull it off though.
Damn Wario needs his own game. I loved his kickass GBA games. Disrespecting monsters, stealing all the gold he can find, threatening his nephew Mario making him look like the bitch of the family LMAO (but never really having a problem with Luigi? Strange.) destroying entire worlds...seriously enough with the WarioWare shit stop insulting him as the host of wacky games and drawing stuff put him on a money grubbing quest with....damn he had like 5-7 different attacks! How is this not a good idea?? What is wrong with Nintendo??
Yoshi deserves this he has always been a pretty cool Nintendo character. I'm hoping this will be good!
@Rivboets7 He's better than any of the sony charcters definitely. I'm surprised sony hasn't ripped him off yet.
The thing is, that's what happens with Sony and Microsoft. They have "1st party companies" that make games for them, but the characters belong more to those companies than they do. Mario, Yoshi, Samus, Link, DK, and the rest ALL BELONG TO BIG N, who then gives their 1st party companies (like Retro Studios) the rights to work with those characters. Crash wasn't made by Sony, but Naughty Dog, so Crash got tossed out when Naughty didn't want him anymore.
What happened with Crash again?
Well you can always sell IPs, it's not like it's permanently with the company. Oh, I misread your statement about Sonic, my apologizes :3
Rayman is an excellent platformer from Ubisoft and Indie developers have been busting out some amazing platform games like Spolosionman, Mighty Switch Force, Shantae, and Fez.
@hangman000 @abHS4L88 @SangheliZealotX @Rivboets7 Nintendo made almost ALL the best platformers. Mario, DK, and Kirby. Doesn't get better than them...except Sonic and Ratchet. Jak was more of an adventure game.
P.S.: Jak and Ratchet belong to Naughty Dog and Insomniac. They don't really belong to Sony. Just like Spyro and Crash, they can be given away without Sony's consent at any time.
Thinking back on it, I loved Yoshi when I was a kid. I kept beggin for Yoshi's Island until I got it, and I loved it. My first game on the N64? Yoshi Story. I loved that too. I always really liked being able to pick out your favorite colored Yoshi, so if they're making a new game I hope it's Yoshi and all of his friends!
...Actually... Wow, I'm actually kinda excited over this. I know nothing's been confirmed, but just the thought of it is making me want a Wii U. I mean, come on; they gave Luigi a mansion! ...A MANSION! ... Granted, it was haunted, but still. I think Yoshi definately deserves his own private island!
hopefully it's a sequel to yoshi's island or has that same type of gameplay. I'm hoping the graphics are beautiful and hand drawn like yoshi's island except hi res :P
Yoshi deserves another starring shot. Super Mario World Yoshi's Island was Yoshi at this greatest so a Wii U outing should Rock.
Wasn't this listed in that hack that someone found for Miiverse on day one? I thought Nintendo said that was just a "fake mock up" lol.
Looking forward to this! Yoshi games share a special place in my heart.
Not only was yoshi's island the 1st video game I ever played, but it was the 1st one I ever beat and played a lot.
@kavadias1981 I don't mean to be rude, but please don't post these things in the comments when we've already heard people demand those games like a million times.
@kavadias1981 A new Star Fox, F-Zero, and some form of new Wave Race would make me incredibly interested in purchasing a Wii U.
@shadowdoggg @RPG_Fan_I_Am @NiteX seems to me that Nintendo should have spent more time listening to what gamers wanted rather than force feeding us they THINK we wanted. The fact that they gave us NSMBU and Nintendo land just goes to show that they weren't. Oh well, maybe someday ay.
@JDWolfie Well, DK64...don't hold your breath. I doubt Nintendo's gonna remake something with the Rare logo on it, or we'd have a direct sequel to Mario RPG. 64, I agree. And not some "on the ground railshooter bullcrap...
...unless the production goes to someone other than Nintendo. I want the flying sections to be the good ol' 64, but the on ground combat like, I dunno, some shooter that does it right.
Now I'm having a nerdgasm.
@LinkLuigi @JDWolfie Ummm . . . nintendo technically owns all of rare's donkey kong-based games, including 64 (it may just be the IP's though, not sure),
You're right, which is why Retro was able to make Donkey Kong Country Returns despite the Country games being made by Rare.
It's like how the developers who made Banjo-Kazooie are teaming up to make the true spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie instead of a flat out sequel since Microsoft owns the IP.
