Zumba Fitness sells 3 million
Majesco announces new worldwide sales milestone for 2010's exer-game; sequel due out this November.
In June, Majesco announced its latest quarterly earnings, saying that sales of Zumba Fitness helped nearly triple the publisher's sales for the period and noting that the game had sold 2 million copies worldwide. Now, the publisher has announced that another million gamers have decided to start exercising with the game.
Sales of 2010's exercise game, which is based on the Zumba fitness program, have now reached 3 million units worldwide, Majesco today announced. The publisher did not break down the sales of the game across the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 iterations.
Majesco isn't done with the Zumba Fitness franchise. A sequel--Zumba Fitness 2--is due out on the Wii this November. Another iteration for an unnamed platform will arrive in "early 2012."
As for the upcoming game, Zumba Fitness 2 will include 30 new dance tracks from Pitbull, Nicole Scherzinger, Yolanda Be Cool & DCup, and others. It will have players exercising to 20 different international dance styles alongside Zumba creator Beto as well as celebrity instructors Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant.
In Zumba Fitness 2, gamers can customize their instruction, tailoring the routine set to their liking. Further, the game sports a new Progress mode that lets players track the number of calories they've burned.
And meanwhile Okami has sold...
@mishma123 That's a nice one but if my girl wants to play games, she's plays with me or no deal!
What is Zumba anyway..? Are there people who still use games to lift up?
the name alone makes me lol.
who buys this crap?
@mishma123 very well said indeed .
@elby322 Kind of mean to a person that is out of shape.
I can imagine Johnny of GameSpot UK shaking his fist at this. :P
if you're some geeky out-of-shape fatass then you have no right to dis this title. go take a walk before your arteries clog.
its good to have games like this on the market, for people that are health conscious. games like dance central and zumba fitness are good cardio workout games.
get me out f here...Oprah play this game....
P90X
I hate this game :P
Girlfriend+ Zumba = entertainment. What you do is get her to do zumba and you sit on ur ass and watch whilst having a beer. When she gets tired you takover and play black ops =D
As a Zumba Instructor, I'm happy this game is bringing Zumba into popularity.
So this is why shadows of the damned never sold well.... We should all rebel and go buy a copy now to knock this off the charts! :D
Now we know that there are at least 3 million suckers purchasing games.
Zumba isn't a game people. Stop bemoaning that it's selling so many units. It doesn't have any effect on actual games so who cares.
HUH, This game SOLD 3 million copies, omg whats wrong with this world ! Did L.A. Noire sell half of that quantity?
This sold 3 million? Unbelievable, this game sucks.,yet these sales overshadow many good games that are much more deserving of them.
It's a shame that this game sells a ton and so many other really good games are overlooked
Shadows of the Damned should get this kind of sales instead of this.
@Kiriyama_X - That's because this isn't a game, it's an exercise tool that you happen to use on your gaming console. @KBFloYd - Sony and Microsoft used the same basic version that was created for Wii because there is really no reason to have a different version, just an adaption for the variations in motion control tech.
@Kiriyama_X xbox and playstation didnt have to copy the wii....but they did...why?..FOR money...because they dont give a ##ap about you,,, only your money..
This sells 3 million over games far, far superior. You can thank the Wii for making crap like this so successful.
my wife bought it on 360. its really funny to watch:P
