Go in one of the side rooms. Charge a Scythe UT facing the hallway. When the screen shakes a ton, release it. Timing is a little tricky but if it connects it'll do good damage.
Repeat-eth.
On a weapon run you can also use arrow UTs. Just don't run out of arrows.

And yes, this fight is terrible. Green cave should've been cut, the whole sequence sucks. One thing NGS2 did right.

I quite like the green tunnels, the boss, not so much. Really hoping you can attack him normally. Gunna try that if I get there on my DCTF run.
And just to elaborate a bit:
When in the side caves, the first time he'll come around but after that you'll need to run out into the main tunnel (or at least close to leaving the cave) to make him come round again. Bow UT's also work.

The whole chapter felt off and random. You first start off attacking these GI Joe cobra ninjas swamp base, then you end up in that horrible green cave, and when you come out, you're in pre-historic south america.

I'd rather cut the gigadeath fight than the caveworm.

This chapter was the worst of the game by far. Nothing really good to say about it other than you can make a lot of money from it. If they had thrown out this chapter and Gigadeth, this game would be a personal favorite.
EDIT: And Chapter 12. I didn't particularly care for that one either.

I tried scythe UTs and bow UTs last time I went through on master ninja but neither did any damage. I had to use lunar 360s to damage him safely. I thought they must have changed something in a patch because all of the guides I had read said to use the scythe.

The patch didn't change this.
It's just timing.

Like he said...it is timing,, and the window is small. You let the UT go just before or right when the worm goes by the cave entrance. Always takes me awhile to get the timing down whenever I fight him.

I was responding to Drop_Tha_Bomb, not TC. Neither one has indicated they beat the boss.
