I think its funny how some people act like their opinions are just the best ever and should be the opinion of everyone. For me, the only appeal to me is the fact that it's Metroid. Otherwise it just looks okay, not something I'd really play much. But who cares if someone else likes it a lot and they'll play it a lot? Why is it such a problem for some of you narcissistic arrogant little s**ts to accept that someone has a different preference? Get over yourselves already.

Metroid Blast is a newly announced attraction found within Nintendo Land. We get a look a competitive mode of Metroid Blast at the Nintendo Wii U press conference.
Wow, people need to stop crying about this, its a group of mini games that look like they have a bunch of modes and it comes with the deluxe system. Seriously if you want to complain and say this is like Wii Sports, who gives a shit I and probably everyone else that owned a Wii popped that into their system more than anything else as it was a quick casual game you could play when friends came over (kinda like what i do with my almost never used Kinect). This will not be my favorite game but this game will definately get me excited about the possiblities and games i am looking forward to Mario, Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, ZombieU, new IP's, and yes games such Aliens Colonial Marines which will come out on other systems but i feel could be cooler on the WiiU than my 360 due to the motion detector being on my gamepad. As i owned the original Wii there deffinatly was some really good games (metriod corruption was the shit) but i did feel that my Wii did at times and of course for the past few months if not year gained a lot of dust (isnt even hooked up).
The WiiU is obviously a step forward for Nintendo and anyone who disagrees with that is an idiot. Yes everyone likes to complain that xbox and Playstation stole the motion control idea from Nintendo but i really dont care tho i think everyone did get sued for the rumblepak Nintendo did develop and everyone copied. Obviously good ideas will always be taken and Nintendo is taking ideas now from others with the Wiitv and getting 3rd parties involved (who cares if these first few games are already on other consoles the next will release at the same time). The Mii Verse thing looks good and hopefully it works as Nintendos friend codes are stupid and getting a better online service is something they have always lacked but I can already see great strides with the 3DS alone.
Even with the WiiU coming out I am still looking forward to games to play on my xbox360 such as RE6, Dead Space 3 (if it doesnt come out on the WiiU), ME3-ME4 (still need to get), Transformer Fall of Cybertron, Halo4 and more to come. I have always enjoyed having 2 systems and would have all 3 if i felt i could afford it and had the space. Nintendo has always had such different IP's than what i would say are much different than what Sony and Msoft come out with and yes they are not all for me as i dont care for Pokemon or others that much as i dont care about GOW but all in all they all have their strengths and weakness and Nintendos next step looks much more promising and i believe that Nintendo is just a small showcase as into what this new tech and experience can show and give ideas for future games to come and i am all for it.
The only people that cry about it being kiddy are immature 13 year olds and idiots that think COD is an Olympic sports even.
Wow, so I just browsed through some of the comments and am absolutely flabbergasted by the response here. Are we even watching the same video? Yes, the graphics are clean and simple and I could see someone deciding they looked 'kiddy' (by the way, this is one of the stupidest sounding words...every time I read it my opinion of the writer is lowered).
But the gameplay design is, I think, objectively very sharp. The split view points. The design of the map. The way the two players on the ground have to work together to take out the player in the airship. The way the airship needs to try to remain hidden, but at the same time needs to come out to take down the ground guys.
There's a lot going on here and I don't get how someone could come away from this video thinking that this looked 'useless' or 'garbage' or any of the other stupid things you guys are saying. I mean, read through the previews of this game. Everyone seems to like it...everyone. I have yet to read a negative preview for the Metroid blast game.
For these people, "good clean fun" means garbage and kiddy.
@ax23000 The problem is not that it' a bad ''game'', the problem is there are already ten thousand games like this one on the Wii so why would the world need another goofy party game? Just how many board games can somebody have in their closet. You can tell me there are alot of different games you can play with a deck of card, but the truth is it's always only a deck of card. This is just another monotonous party game polished with better graphics and different themes. Pretty neat to entertain kids(I know I have 2), but pretty boring for somebody that needs something more as in STORY, or CHALLENGE, or SERIOSITY, or DEPTH.
Give me one party game that looks as deep as this. Looking at the demonstration, yes it's a minigame collection, but it's looking like each minigame also has different variations to it with more challenging gameplay instead of "let's see who can waggle their WiiMote the fastest."
Really? All this ranting because of one minigame, out of one game with lots of minigames, that comes packed with the console? (on premium anyway).
Fuck you guys. Hell, I can see this being just a lot of fun. You know, Nintendo is not forcing you to play this, and only this, for the rest of your lifes. You can actually put another disc on the console and play another game.
@Leir_Bag Put another disc, another game...there's a fair chance the other disk/game available is gonna be another party game OR a game already released on current consoles. I think Nintendo fan wants the franchise back, the classics, and not another super mario U, which is pretty much the same as MArio Wii with a ''Tablet''. Besides Nintendo Land is silly and if someone plans on buying this console by looking at a footage of Nintendo land, I would say they lack taste in terms of gaming if they are over 12.
Oh so anyone who recognizes good clean fun lacks taste in gaming? So what's your idea of "tasteful" gaming? Bloody and violent gameplay with some cliched story tacked on? There's only been like 2 other party games announced for the launch window and like no more than 10 ports, the rest are all exclusive titles to the Wii U, and that's over 50 titles for the next 5 months.
And New Super Mario Bros. U has more modes, a larger world and the GamePad to add more gameplay elements to it.
Xbox360, Ps3, PC are for gamers. I don't play nintendo games anymore, just pure gimmicks for children and adults that are children at heart. I purchased a DS for my daughter she loves it, if she wants a WII U i will get one for her. As for myself, I'll stick with Sony MS or my PC.
@Janpieterzun I am a child at heart in a lot of ways. You should try it some time. The joy and wonder of childhood are not things that should be scoffed at. I think the world would be a much better place if adults, every once and a while, tried to reconnect with those emotions.
I work with kids and it's kind of sad when I see them trying too hard to act grown up in the games they play.
It's funny because a lot of gamers are rather childish when they should be more childlike .
@Janpieterzun Are you serious? Honestly, where do people like you get off claiming who is a gamer and who isn't? Ever consider that not everyone likes what you do? Is it really that hard? How about Nintendo is for people who like different things than you do?
There are few things I hate more than when people claim that they are a "true" something while other's aren't. Get off your high horse.
@armodillo17 @Janpieterzun He never said who's a gamer and who isn't. He just pointed that people playing Nintendo games are a different kind of gamers than the gamers playing other consoles, and I think it's true. I think you do too, because that's what you said in your bashing comment.
@SIDEFX1 Just to clarify, when I said ´´If you know anything about it`s gameplay`` I was talking about super smash bros melee's gameplay, not about gameplay in general.
@SIDEFX1 Sorry but I don't understand what you are trying to say with this comment (english is not my first language )
@SIDEFX1 Cheers for you to good sir.
@Oneeyeddoll666 True that blood definitely does not make a game. I know very well of the game play http://www.themortalkombat.com/leaderboards?inputLinkPlatform=ps3&inputLeaderboardType=flawless_victories&inputPageNumber=1Including other ranks
I do want to continue this debate, but it's nearly 3AM where I am X_X
I will leave you with this and hope you understand what I was trying to get at, I don't expect you to agree though, it's a long article though.
Yeah, that's why I've sent it to most others I've come into discussion with.
@abHS4L88 But you know, most people are not blind, they are trying to convice themselves that what they see it's not true. And what I really like about the article is that it fully explains the reasons they make the games the way they've been doing it recently.
I only offer it to those who show enough of an open mind because there are those who I showed it to that came back with blind fanboy comments.
@SIDEFX1 @xolivierx @Janpieterzun @abHS4L88 Abuse and misinterpret parts of what he said, twisting your words, siding with companies, personal attacks, try and convince the world that my choice is the only correct one? When did I do any of that?
Especially that last one: the entire point of my post is to say that there ISN"T one correct choice. I have machines from Nintendo, SEGA, and Sony, and I sometimes play games on my Mac (don't have a Windows PC, unfortunately), and I don't think that any one of them are definitively better than others.
Just like you, I am very passionate about games. I play them a lot, I research them a lot, I collect them. And you know why I got a Wii? It has the most games I want to play this generation, more games that I want to get than either Xbox360 or PS3. That's the only reason. I do want a PS3, but it doesn't have as many games that I want as the Wii does and I didn't have the money for both.
And here's where I get ticked off. Just because you (and many others) don't think the Wii was targeted at passionate gamers doesn't mean it isn't FOR passionate gamers. It IS possible for someone who is passionate about games (a "true" gamer) to be largely uninterested in what MS or Sony has to offer this generation.
@SIDEFX1 @abHS4L88 Just wanted to say games don't need blood or any kind of gore to be adult oriented (take as an example melee. If you know anything about it's gameplay, you know that no kid could play the game at all). And also, I'm glad that wii doesn't has Hd graphics. Takes more focus on gameplay, and I like playing games with better gameplay (it's pure logic, game-play, games are for playing, not watching)
Look at history, when Nintendo tried competing on a hardware level, they failed to make an impact and since Sony and Microsoft decided to take the HD jump (along with risking millions), Nintendo had to switch strategy. You read about how much of a hit Nintendo took when they had to sell the 3DS at a loss, and this was riding off of the success of the Wii and DS, so what makes you think they could've pulled off an HD console back then?
You've been spoiled by the technological leap that both Sony and Microsoft made that you can't even try to understand why Nintendo had to make the choices they made back then.
I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that Ninja Gaiden 3 was the only game I was talking about. They've already secured Bayonetta 2 and ZombiU as exclusives and we're still only at the system's launch. So you've finished Assassin's Creed 3 already? PLEASE tell me how it was, oh wait you haven't. Plus you're talking about the launch as if it's supposed to feature the greatest exclusives ever so please tell me the last console that had an amazing launch line up, your answer can't be the 360 or the PS3 because their launch titles weren't that great either.
Nintendo is not going to developer an M rated game themselves, that's not who they are and they shouldn't sacrifice their values just to appease some shallow gamers who only care about what's on the surface. They'll publish and support other developers but they won't do it themselves.
Yeah, they won't get MK9 because Mortal Kombat has NEVER appeared on a Nintendo system, oh wait, EVERY Mortal Kombat game made prior to MK9 has been on Nintendo's systems.
As for Injustice, you know T rated games can still have blood? And it's not the fact that it's on the Wii U why it's T rated, it's because they're handling DC characters, same reason why MK vs DC Universe was a T rated game, so stop trying to make up reasons to hate on the Wii U.
@abHS4L88 Your inadequately and illogically counter positive comments are valid. With respect I agree to disagree with you on most parts especially with the HD subject, I have said what i said about it and your response back is average and typically weak excuse defending Wii not having HD. You think Nintendo are poor company? So you can only talk about about a small few games targeting the hardcore players that are years old on generations ago, ..Wow, just because you see a M rating on Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U, Does not mean it will capture the hardcore gamer, especially when all the hardcore games they are releasing Wii U are ports of games that hardcore PS3/360 owners already owned and finished.. Let see Nintendo First hand develop a game for players it suppose to be 'growing for'.MK9 won't be on Wii U because of the over the top realistic effects of violence and bone crushing X-rays and of course i know of Injutice: Gods Among us ,Yes that will come out on Wii U. and it is a great fighter with MK Mechanics, Why it will come out on Wii U is because it will be watered down have next to nothing blood, no gruesome fatality's or shocking brutal awesome X-Ray hits. MK9 is a totally over the top bloody awesome fighter.
HD was a new thing back then and considering how expensive both the 360 and PS3 were (and how much money both companies lost because of that) did you honestly think Nintendo was in a position to release an HD console, especially riding off the mild sales of both the GameCube and N64? Granted they could've made the Wii a little bit more powerful but that would've drove up costs and aside from the Wii U, Nintendo has never sold its consoles above $300.
Just because their hardware didn't seem like it was targeting the hardcore audience look at the games they've released, it launched with Zelda Twilight Princess and from then on all their biggest 1st party games were all hardcore titles from Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country, Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, Sin & Punishment, Smash Brothers and Fire Emblem. And again, HD was relatively new, most people didn't even have HD TVs yet, I remember my brother and I playing his PS3 on our 13" dinosaur TV for about a year before he finally got an HD TV.
Nintendo ONLY cares for younger audience is a fact? Yes, that's why they've allowed Rare to publish some pretty violent and lewd games on the N64 (because Conker's Bad Fur Day is totally meant for kids), on the Gamecube, they published Eternal Darkness along with getting Resident Evil Zero and the original remake on their consoles and now for the Wii U they're publishing Bayonetta 2 (because she's a role model for all children) and working with Team Ninja to improve Ninja Gaiden 3.
Yeah MK9 won't be on Wii U because the game's been out for quite a while, but hey, you know that new fighting game NetherRealm is working on? Injustice: Gods Among Us, yeah, that's going to be on the Wii U.
I do respect and agree with what you said about Nintendo's AAA titles. With the Wii U, I'm hoping (and pretty sure) that they're looking to bring back their more hardcore franchises like F-Zero and Star Fox (Miyamoto stated his interest in bringing back the series).
@abHS4L88 Your wrong, sorry to say.. it is crazy that you believe Nintendo was trying to target the hardcore gamer. especially Wii not even having HD support to begin with which is something that hardcore gamers are custom too. with Wii having low specs, no HD, issues with the controllers, crappy network functionality and many other things, clearly you are able to understand the difference?. , This means that they did not originally target the Wii at hardcore audience at all. The original real target is Nintendo made the Wii to aim at appealing to broader demographic audience than those of PS3 and 360. Which i am guessing would be better for the whole game world. Also Nintendo has for years claimed to be target the hardcore player and not look so kiddie and they started saying this with the release of Resident Evil on their N64 console and that was many years ago. Nintendo has only really cared for younger Audience and that is a fact. Why do people debate this when it is clear as black and white --Take Mortal kombat 9 on PS3/360, this is a game that would not have a hope in hell on being on Wii U. I think Nintendo's AAA titles prove only one thing and that is tech specs are not the ?be all and end all? of everything that console should be judged on as Wii showed with Super Mario Galaxy fun game play and nice graphics. I think Nintendo games are great fun, great game play, but are all cutesy and kiddie and so is not my style of game to play anymore. Yes XBOX and PS3 are trying to appeal to the younger Audience now because they neglected them with Kinect etc just to cash in.
Actually Nintendo originally targeted the Wii at hardcore gamers, but when the casual audience fell in love with it, Nintendo knew they also had to cater to them too. I can understand your point if Nintendo didn't deliver any of their AAA titles, but they did and it was some of the best games they've put out in the past decade, sure they might not have given as much variety but they even stated that as much as they want to put out certain games like F-Zero, if no one's going to buy it, then they're not going to make it until they know there's going to be an audience for it (because they still need to make money). It also didn't help that 3rd party games weren't doing so well either (talking about the really good ones) so of course 3rd party support wasn't that strong.
I understand why many gamers felt "burned" by the Wii, but to automatically judge Nintendo as "not caring for the hardcore anymore" despite everything that they're doing (3DS's biggest titles are all pretty much hardcore games) it's pretty ridiculous. What about this past Wii U conference? I don't see how anyone could say Nintendo has forgotten about the hardcore audience or doesn't care, they're even publishing these "hardcore games" that many people have been screaming out for and what do they get for it? Even more hate.
One could argue that Microsoft didn't care about the hardcore audience for a period of time, I mean their E3 2011 and 2012 were mostly spent highlighting the Kinect and mostly casual games, yet you don't seem to be "burned" by them.
It seems like whenever Sony or Microsoft does something wrong, it's fine as long as they recover from it, but if Nintendo does something wrong, they're pretty much screwed and will be judged because of it forever.
@armodillo17 @xolivierx @Janpieterzun @abHS4L88 @armodillo17- So you abuse and misinterpret parts of what he said to justify yourself and cover frustration due your inability to debate. and your twisting my words.Anyway look.. It is like this. I am/ was a core gamer of Nintendo's, Me and the millions of others out there that made Nintendo what it is. Gamecube was passable but with the Nintendo Wii i could see that Nintendo had forgetton about it's real core audience with the Wii console built as a casual machine and aimed toward families was it not?? This especially then made Microsoft and Sony to be in very similar light to each other and in saying this these are these two consoles that are the machines that are aimed at those who 'passionately' play games which are the 'Hardcore' gamer..360 and PS3 was the console conversation. I am not immature and in siding of companies and personal attacks on each other. however, If that is what you like then you should pack some lunch because i could go all day.^^ So as I play games as 'hobby' my whole life, like the rest of the hardcore gamers out their who like myself simply comment by point out logical reasons as to why a system isn?t for them. Since i was up for the argument, i won't need to prove the superiority of a console. Nintendo forgot about us core gamers, I am confident in the consoles i purchases and aren?t insecure enough to try and convince the world that my choice is the only correct one.
@xolivierx @armodillo17 @Janpieterzun I totally agree with you that Nintendo caters to a different type of gamer. But that is not at all what he said. He DID say who is a gamer and who isn't when he said, "Xbox360, Ps3, PC are for gamers," and Nintendo is "just pure gimmicks for children." If he had said, "Xbox 360, PS3, and PC cater to one type of gamer, Nintendo to another," I would have no problem at all with what he said.
Just because I reacted strongly and disagreed with him does not mean I was bashing anyone. I said that I really hate when people take a certain attitude about gaming, an attitude that, to me, is close minded and offensive.
This comment has been deleted
No, a true gamer sticks to the games they love, but are willing to try out new things. A real gamer doesn't care about what everyone else is playing or what others think about what they play because it's what they love and what's the most fun for them. Judging/categorizing us because our interests differ from yours is very immature and pretty narrow-minded. You guys are basically saying "As an adult you're not allowed to like Nintendo." which is flat out stupid.
@DarkShadowPain @SIDEFX1 @armodillo17 Nintendo is not going to rule anything if they don'T release mature games or ''games with a more mature theme'' not to offend anybody. As for the games you mentionned tekken, darksiders, assassins creed, mass effect and cod, most of those games are already out on other systems, and they are not exclusives(ninja gaiden anyone). So far pretty much everybody could expect from the info we have so far the Wii-U is not going to have alot of mature themed games, so yes sir, I'll stick to my PS3 until Nintendo release strong exclusives, and by that I don't mean pikmin, lego crap, MArio Wii 2 aka Mario U. I would have expected something like Zelda, a strong Mario title like Mario 64, a Donkey Kong game, A starFox, Mario kart, for the release, but you don't see any of that. What I see is crap and a tiny pourcentage of pontential. I'm waiting for Wii-U reviews and for strong titles to come out. ENOUGH of the stupid(yes stupid) goofy party games.
@SIDEFX1 Just... wow. Ok, then, sir. Please elaborate. You think I'm a "still learning gamer" because... I think Nintendo isn't just for kids? ... that gamers can like Nintendo, not just Xbox/Ps/PC? And just out of curiosity, I'd love to hear how old you think you I am and how long I've been gaming.
Also, I'm pretty sure he did say something hateful to Nintendo when he said that" gamers" don't play it, and "just pure gimmicks for children."
You also seem to have made the assumption that I only play Nintendo games. Since when does liking Nintendo mean you don't like Sony or MS?
@SIDEFX1 @DarkShadowPain @armodillo17 Nintendo isn't only for kids; There are masses of adults who love Nintendo games and they are almost all gamers. Legend of Zelda has consistently been one of the best game series ever, and adults can still love Mario just as much as much as they did when they were kids. I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, so don't push the title on me; my most anticipated games right now are: Xcom, Halo 4, and possibly The Last of Us. Also, if Nintendo were only for kids, then why does Nintendo sell its products so well? Why is the WiiU deluxe edition already sold out at Gamestop? You can't deny that Nintendo makes amazing games, it doesn't matter how old you are, there still amazing.
@DarkShadowPain @armodillo17I understand that you are Nintendo loyal young boy with next to no knowledge of anything correct. Lol kid..Nintendo is your end all and be all but as you grow and if you take your gaming serious and entertainment then you will not resist the power calling from either the PS4 or 720.. Nintendo is the gateway for young gamers non players into the gaming world. I started on Nintendo and i grew up. Why don't you?
@SIDEFX1 @armodillo17 wii u will have tekken, darksiders, assassins creed, mass effect and cod. You silly sony fanboys dont know what gaming is, you say mario and pokemon is for kids just because of the design when you have never experienced a true addictive adventure, and consider your little sony games for adults because of the graphics but well wii u will have better graphics than ps3 and xbox, and even if the other next gen consoles have better graphics it wont make that much of a difference because power wont be the main factor in the future since the every console is already powerful enough. With the wii u nintendo will rule pretty much everything, you sony fanboys are now just saying nonsense because you are afraid of nintendo's success and sonys failure since sony only has power and lacks originality, as a result the only thing that sony can do is copy nintendo's ideas just like it did with playstation move and vitas touch screen. Seriously admit defeat nintendo now has a big library of games, It now is by far the best gaming company.
I like how everyone thinks this crap is the ONLY game coming out for the system. Use your brain people. That is if you have one.
@NiteX It may not be the ONLY game, but it is a good exemple of the kind of games WII-U is going to support. And don't tell me it'll have Ass Creed and ninja gaiden and that mumbo jumbo crap. We want strong titles not only 5 games, and strong exclusives, not Lego crap and games you can play with your Mii characters. IF that can't be, it just mean Wii-U is the exact same as the Wii but with HD and a so-called tablet, meaning they mixed the DS and Wii together and included HD graphics. The wii is cool, but once you have beaten Zelda and the Mario gamesand I mean the good titles), you are left with party crap. Is the Wii-U going to release party crap for the most part? We shall see, but until then my money is staying with me.
Aside from Super Mario Brothers, every new console that's has had a game packed in is usually some kind of mini game collection to show off what the tech is about, and for the most part, mini game collections can be enjoyed by everyone. They're not going to pack in some hardcore title because then it won't give others who pick it up to automatically have a game to try out the Wii U with. And of the 50 launch window games, I only saw like 3-4 party games.
As for the Wii, there were at least two dozen excellent titles that weren't party games. Isn't as much as the 360/PS3 but to say that only Mario and Zelda are the only good games to be found on the Wii is highly inaccurate.
