As much as we pay to have gaming computers dont you think games should at least look better than a console game...this game looks weak!
It has begun? You realize Square has produced both the Bahamut Lagoon, and Front Mission series of games which are both strategy games? They did this like... 20 years ago. And the tank was a Panzerkampfwagen VII Tiger II "Konigtiger". Not a PzKpfw V Panther :D
uhh queer penix? umm are you an idiot? its quar enix and you best respect them they have brought the world some of the best video games ever made not to mention stories that are absolutely amazing. sure not perfect but what they have done is set the bar just one notch higher almost everytime they release a game there is always something new and interesting...this is no different...
My mistake they look very similar. Most games usually use the Tiger I over the Tiger II therefore i thought it was a panther.
2Uthar_Wynn: "The 50-star flag though, there's no reason for that beyond just sloppiness. Most people don't even notice but I find it pretty jarring every time I see it, developers should be more careful." Actually the devs are belorussians, so that's forgivable.
2 Raven Research what tech, buddy? I guess it's supposed to be a realistic game based key WWII events, no alternate history
It looks like a WIC with COH!It's awesome! Can't wait to be released,i hope the requirements are not that big :)
I found it odd that they showed the russian IS-2 rather than the T-34. I mean i know its bigger but it wasnt the mainstay of the russian tank divisions. As for the german part when they showed the king tiger, wasnt that a panther?
I hope this has "Total War" war type map conquering with Empires/Countries. Build your armies, research new tech, then lead hem into real time battles like the one shown. Now that would be EPIC as hell!!!
@panzerchild You're right, the game itself looks interesting, but as an admitted WWII buff I can't help but point out the inaccuracies. I kind of understand when games remove the swastika, I mean it's historically inaccurate to do so but the symbol IS offensive to just about everyone and illegal in Germany. Order of War, The Saboteur, even Hearts of Iron III avoids the swastika. The 50-star flag though, there's no reason for that beyond just sloppiness. Most people don't even notice but I find it pretty jarring every time I see it, developers should be more careful.
Looks great. Tanks are so real! As for the German flag I can guess that Nazi symbols are forbidden for use anyway. (Uthar_Wynn wrote: "0:37 - German state flag with the swastika censored out and replaced with a Iron Cross".)
Wow! OoW - must have. RUZE - no no no!!! Herodotus2006: how can you judge about gameplay after watching the trailer? It makes me think that you write here in order to promote your r.u.s.e... Be objective: Total War withing WW2 setting is really cool!
And as for cinematic camera - man, when you collect enough resources to send a wing of stukas to take out dreaded battery of Russian howitzers... you can't help watching it in style...
The closest comparison would be Total War, but with tanks, guns, MGs, bazookas, bombers. Nothing compared to CoH or WiK.
I've seen the game at GamesCon in Germany. Played it for a couple of hours. Nothing like a Demo. As the devs explained, the public demo was just a 15-minute cut balanced down for most casual players - yes, select and move forward. Later campaign scenarios (especially on Medium and Hard) levels have HUNDREDS of units and is really a nightmare in terms of tactical micromanagement and maneuvering. It took me about 2 hours to complete Kesselschlaht scenario. Killed around 3K Soviet solders and around 1K vehicles
0:15 - United States 50-star flag, adopted July 4, 1960. 0:37 - German state flag with the swastika censored out and replaced with a Iron Cross. 0:25 - Actual flag of the Soviet Union during WWII. Hey guys, at least you got that one right! One out of three ain't so bad! That's over 33 percent! *forced smile*
Agreed, it has to be more than grouping a stack of green-highlited units and throwing them at a bunch of red and see who comes out on top. I know there is no doubt a little more strategy to it than that, but not from the demo (units not taking cover when moved forward). Then again it doesn't seem to differ too wildly from World in Conflict (which may not be a bad thing). Have to wait and see. At least it's for PC-only, unlike RUSE.
Sadly i think they expect us to actually play the game in cinematic camera mode. This game had so much potential, but after playing the demo you realise this is as arcade-like as an RTS can get. Unless the gameplay has been drastically changed i'll be avoiding this one.
Bit of a waste really...no gameplay. Seems to all have been captured using the cinematic camera. After the demo, I'd like to see more of what's in-game.
