Previously on RC III...

Ichmael: I'm here to report back on-
Soldier: The palace is under attack!
Ichmael: WHAT?!
Soldier: They slaughtered the guards! I'm the only one left! You gotta help!
Ichmael: Okay! Who could have done this?!

The palace has several military planes and tanks surrounding it and opening fire.

Now

Soldier: I only made it out because Cripof and Wexeh noticed something was off and sent us a warning. Only he could have executed a military coup this quickly and effectively...
Ichmael: A coup? You mean... It must be... Governor Kroyuk!
Soldier: Yes, it's him! Obviously he's trying to usurp the throne.
Ichmael: Is he with the cultists?!
Soldier: I don't know, but no time to talk more, go stop them!
Ichmael: Oh right, sorry!

Ichmael dashes to the palace but finds the door blocked by a military tank.

Soldier in Tank: Alien! You cannot interfere with us! The feeble king's time is up!
Ichmael: Shut up, you're going to die, traitor.

Ichmael uses Fury Bomb! The Tank is sucked into a black hole, leaving behind the soldier somehow.
Soldier: Ack!

Ichmael 500/500 VS Soldier 20/20
Ichmael uses Stab! 20 damage! Soldier is defeated!

Note: the Fury Bomb really is that powerful but can only be thrown across short distances, like 10 feet at the most, and takes some time to get ready, making it usually only usable against close, slow opponents. Anyway, Ichmael gets through the palace door to find more soldiers at guard.

Ichmael: They must be after the king! Where is that usurper Kroyuk?!
Bioscan: At the forefront, I'd imagine.

Just then another soldier in a strange human-shaped robot-like contraption comes in.

Soldier: You will not stop us! Behold our secret technology!
Ichmael: Whatever.

BATTLE!

Ichmael uses Rocket! Mecha absorbs some of the blow! 30 damage!
Mecha uses Robot Punch! 30 damage!

Ichmael 395/500 VS Mecha 50/80
Ichmael runs, jumps on top of the robot and drags the soldier out.

Soldier: Ack! Get off me, terrorist!
Ichmael: Shut up. We're getting out of this.

Ichmael dumps a bomb in the mecha's cockpit and jumps off with the soldier in tow.

Ichmael: Now why are you doing this?
Soldier: The king is weak! He relies on you, an alien to do all his dirty work! He needs to be deposed! Now come!

2 more Mechas are nearby. The soldier gets in one.

Ichmael: Ugh... Wait.

Ichmael gets in the other!

Soldier: Bah! Get out of there, alien!
Ichmael: Let me think about that... no.

BATTLE again!

Ichmael's Mecha 80/80 VS Mecha 80/80
Ichmael's Mecha uses Robot Kick! 40 damage!
Mecha uses Robot Knees! 30+30 damage!

Ichmael 20/80 VS Mecha 40/80

The opposing Mecha blows up. Ichmael gets out of his and manages to get to just outside the throne room, where another guy in a general outfit is waiting.

Ichmael: Who are you?
General: I'm Gyst, Kroyuk's general. You cannot save the king.

A giant robot hand hurls Ichmael out of the building. Another, bigger mecha awaits.

Gyst: Now die!

Ichmael gets back to where he was before.

Gyst: What?! Well... You shall not pass!

Ichmael: Meh.

Ichmael stabs Gyst, kicks him over and enters the throne room.

Ichmael: Now just what is- oh my goodness!

Kroyuk, wielding a sword, is approaching King Karre.

Karre: So you got past all the guards... Kroyuk, you traitor! Are you working with Zallur and the cultists?
Kroyuk: What? No, of course not! Your incompetent handling of this mess with them is what made me accelerate my timetable! Your reliance on this... alien...
Karre: ... "Accelerate"?
Kroyuk: Yes. I was eventually going to do this anyway. The Union will be avenged!
Ichmael: The what?
Kroyuk: What, you?!
Karre: You made it past Kroyuk's lackeys! Excellent!
Kroyuk: The Union is my side of the recent World War! Karre's Federation vanquished it! But now I will correct that.
Karre: What, you're a mole for the Union?
Kroyuk: That's right. Now take this!

Kroyuk raises his sword.

Ichmael: No!

Ichmael manages to clash swords... just after Kroyuk impales the king. Karre slumps to the floor.

Karre: Auugh...
Ichmael: NO! I was too late!
Kroyuk: And your dear princess is soon to follow!
Karre: Ichmael... K-kill Kroyuk first...
Ichmael: I will, your majesty.
Kroyuk: You kill me? Ha! You don't know the extent of my power!
Ichmael: We'll see.

A small attack helicopter moves near the throne room.

Ichmael uses his Gravity Grip to pull the helicopter into Kroyuk's cockpit! 40 damage! Kroyuk and a Soldier are knocked to the ground!

Kroyuk: OWW! What was that?! You buffoonish soldier!
Soldier: Err... Sorry!
Ichmael: HA!

Ichmael 105/500 VS Kroyuk 10/80 Soldier 30/30
Ichmael uses Chain Lightning! 30 damage to Kroyuk! 10 damage to Soldier! Kroyuk is defeated!
Soldier: No!... Well I can still finish the mission.

The soldier tries to get in Kroyuk's Mech but Ichmael shoots him down with a Rocket. Battle over.

Kroyuk: Agggggh! My... my plan cannot fail!
Ichmael: It just did.
Kroyuk: But the king's dying!
Ichmael: Oh shoot, you're right.

But some loyal soldiers have come in the room and take the now-unconscious Karre away. They also arrest Kroyuk. Sarre Lathon then comes into the room.

Sarre: Kroyuk... A traitor! They're not sure if my father will make it... For now I am acting queen... Thank you for your efforts in stopping Kroyuk! He would have come for me next!
Ichmael: Indeed... You're welcome.
Sarre: Kroyuk and Gyst have been arrested. Now, I have heard about what you did in that "nexus". But the seal hasn't stopped weakening.
Ichmael: WHAT?! Well what now?
Sarre: The only option left is to attack their main base.
Ichmael: Okay, but I don't know where that is...
Sarre: We have been able to figure out that it is actually close to Mt. Kanut itself. My father was in the midst of authorizing a military assault on it. I will finish that. We would like you to take part in it...
Ichmael: Alright, I have no wish to let your planet be exterminated of life.
Sarre: That's what I like about you!
Ichmael: Uh, thanks...
Sarre: Zallur himself should be at this base, as well as his lieutenant Olfaja. Hopefully we can finally put an end to them.
Ichmael: Yeah.
Sarre: Anyway, Cripof and Wexeh left for here after warning us. You should talk to them again before setting off.
Ichmael: Got it.

The final(?) assault is coming up! RC III Chapter 18 Part 5!

I know. There were a lot of turns that were just copies of each other. I tried to spice things up with changes like Ichmael taking control of a Mecha in one battle and that helicopter during the Kroyuk's Mech battle but there's really not a lot more I feel I can do. As I've said before, these stories are more about plot/drama then humor... Anyone have any suggestions on how to make these more interesting/funny?

The plot's "not bad now"? So it was bad before? =/

I'm hoping the final battles of this chapter will be a little more intense/interesting to read. They'll be pretty dramatic, at the least. Like on par with Mrs. Butterworth or the Ember Overlord.

As for suggestions, overall, I'd almost say skip generic battles, at least as much as possible. Cuts down on repetition somewhat, and I don't see you gaining any new powers for reaching the "three hundred baddies killed" mark. Not to mention, I'm not getting any new powers from the "one hundred generic enemies killed" mark, though I just mentioned it...

Yeah, I kinda figured you thought all those parts were bad without you having to say so, but I thought you meant Chapter 18 specifically was bad before Part 4. Also, that whole thing about God and Satan is NOT a "conspiracy theory" on my end. The source was partly from conspiracy theorists, but I've said repeatedly I don't actually believe (most of) their claims. I think both God and Satan are fictional, regardless of which one is considered the good guy. That plot line was mostly just my way of taking out my teenage anger at religion, and those groups gave me the idea on how to do so. And yeah, the parts about Bush and company being excellent at physical combat was the exaggerations I was referring to before I made that chapter. I came up with the plotline for Rage Chronicles III (minus Chapter 18) when I was 13-14. Chapter 18 was thought of around age... 17 or 18 I think. So I guess it shows in my writing. =X I would have avoided posting the first three stories entirely but that would have left people wondering "uh... What's going on? Who's this guy? How'd he get all those powers? How'd he end up in another star system?"/etc. when I started RC IV.

Incidentally, I first came across all those neo-Pagan-esque Satanists from a link itself from a link from something that girl I mentioned I'm trying to get a hold of on Skype had.

Yep, there's no new powers for beating enemies. It's more like Zelda/Metroid then Mario. I'll try to cut down on the generic battles but I think skipping them entirely would be a bad move. I've already included much less than there would have been otherwise. I'll just try to come up with ways to make them more interesting. In any case, not many more generic battles are left for the story. I hope to have Part 5 out by tomorrow night, possibly as early as tonight. I want to wrap up RC III as fast as possible so I can proceed to my completely original, non-teen-angst-based story of RC IV. I hope to attract a bigger audience for that.

Yeah, I won't be expecting much turnout from people without much time on their hands or a good attention span. But since summer vacation has started/is starting I'm hoping for more.

Thanks for preferring mine, by the way. Seems like you're the only reader I have at the moment. The ones who were reading the more offensive parts haven't said anything else since I switched to this.

This chapter was based off of a dream! Although the only parts actually in the dream were me rescuing some girl from sharks and a giant Electro Spectre (from Earthbound)-ripoff threatening the world I was on (whatever it was) with an electric apocalypse. I came up with everything else only when I posted it as a story here. I never even thought of Kanulltharon having a cult seeking to revive it until now. Major plot twists are still on the way. I'm a big fan of making plot twists. RC IV will have even more.

Rage Chronicles III Chapter 18 Part 5

Ichmael goes to talk to the scholars Cripof and Wexeh for advice on raiding the Kanulltharon Cultists' base.

Ichmael: There you are. Thank you for warning the castle about Kroyuk's plans.
Wexeh: No problem, we had no wish to let him usurp the throne.
Cripof: Indeed. Now, you did you want to know more about the planets we think have life on them?
Ichmael: Uh, sure, but not now. I need to help stop the cultists.
Wexeh: Of course. Sorry about my information on that nexus being inaccurate, it appears it was just an area they were using as a second base.
Ichmael: At least I got to shut that one down.
Wexeh: Anyway, we think the cultists are using this main base in much the same way: to somehow chip away at the volcano seal and extract power from it. It is likely that Olfaja is there, as well as their true master Zallur.
Cripoff: Indeed! It'll be very interesting to find out just how they do what they do!
Wexeh: Uh, right. Anyway, we'll keep monitoring their activities here and let you know if we find anything else.
Ichmael: Alright. Anything else?
Wexeh: Sorry, no. Good luck helping them stop the cult!
Ichmael: Thanks...

Ichmael leaves with a military group led by General Clyke in several attack helicopters.

Clyke: At least we've finally discovered their true base. We will help you this time, Ichmael.
Ichmael: I noticed. Thanks for that.
Clyke: We will launch a frontal attack to draw them out while sending you and two of our most highly trained marines in to shut the base down. Here they are, Jin...

Clyke points to a large, bald man.

Clyke: And Jaggie.

Clyke points to a young red-haired woman.

Bioscan: Both just one letter away from English names. I'm not impressed with the girl.
Ichmael: (Hush!)
Jin: It's a pleasure to meet you, sir. I'm afraid neither of us has your skill in battle, but we will help you as best we can.
Jaggie: Yes! We can at least help pick off the weakest of Zallur's minions.
Ichmael: Okay, thanks for your help.
Clyke: Now let's move out.


They reach the Cultist Base. It is a large, dark tower hidden between crevices near Mt. Kanut.

Lieutenant: They noticed our arrival.

Many cultists come out of the building, armed with various weaponry.

Clyke: This is it! Kill them all!

A gunfight breaks out between the marines and the cultists. After about 30% of the cultists and 10% of the marines are gunned down, an opening is made in front of the front door.
Clyke: This is it! Get in there, Ichmael, Jin, Jaggie!

Ichmael: Got it.

Ichmael and his team dash in the building. More cultists await.

Cultist: So the alien brought some friends! Let's see how-

Jaggie shoots the cultist dead, and Jin and Jaggie gun down the rest.

Ichmael: Nice. Now to investigate.

IchmaelCo. (Now he has a company!) investigate the area.

They find a strange, giant machine on the outer wall that seems to be connected to something in the ground.

Jaggie: Could this be a machine they're using to break the seal?
Ichmael: Probably.
Jin: Let's destroy it!

Jin opens fire at the center of it, but it doesn't damage it.

Ichmael: Let me try.

Ichmael zaps the machine with Spread Lightning, which overcharges it and shuts it down.

Jaggie: Great job, sir!
Ichmael: Thanks. But there must be more.

They search around more, killing some more cultists on the way. Another machine is on another end of the building, which Ichmael also shuts down.

Ichmael: How many more of these are there?
??? (on a loudspeaker): Wouldn't you like to know?

???: Ahhaha... Take a guess!
Ichmael: Zallur.
???: Correct! You've finally found my base. Well done. But you cannot stop us. Kanulltharon will be freed, no matter what you do.
Jin: Shut up, terrorist!
Ichmael: We're shutting down your little devices.
Zallur: Go right ahead. I'm still running things at the top. Ta-ta!

The loudspeaker stops making noise.

Ichmael: Bah. Are these machines just decoys?
Jaggie: We can check.

Ichmael uses Bioscan on a machine.

Bioscan: This machine doesn't actually do anything except look flashy.
Ichmael: Argh! We were wasting time!
Jin: How do you know?
Ichmael: ... I can... scan these things. Let's just get to the top and find Zallur.
Clyke (on radio): Zallur is at the top? I'm sending an attack helicopter up there.
Ichmael: Alright. We'll proceed on foot.

Fighting through more cultists, they go up a floor. The building has five. They soon hear a huge crash.

Zallur (on loudspeaker): I saw that attack helicopter! Fools. The guy flying it never knew what hit him.
Clyke (radio): You b*******!
Ichmael: What happened?
Clyke: Lightning came out of the top and struck the helicopter, making it crash land. Terin was a good soldier!
Zallur: Ha. Weaklings. Come on up, if you dare...

They go up another floor, gunning down more cultists. Ichmael takes a shot to the arm, losing 20 HP.

Clyke (on radio): We got a dispatch from the castle. Wexeh's found out something important. It's apparently important enough that he's coming here via helicopter.
Ichmael: Should we wait for him?
Clyke: No! Press on now! Kill Zallur!
Ichmael: What's the information?
Clyke: It's-
Zallur (on loudspeaker): I'm afraid I can permit no more communication between you guys. Sorry.

An explosion is heard outside.

Ichmael: What did you do?!
Zallur: I had a small EMP set off near your helicopters. Now you won't be hearing anything more from your commander.
Ichmael: Bah...
Jin: Let's keep moving.

On the fourth floor, there is just a very long, straight path with nothing along it.

Ichmael: ... Looks like a trap.
Jin: We have our training. We'll help you get through it.

Halfway across, nothing happens, but then someone comes down the stairs... It's Olfaja!

Olfaja: So you've made it all the way here. I-

Jin and Jaggie open fire but Olfaja dodges. She then shocks them with lightning, stunning them. Two giant blocks promptly fall down, crushing them both.

Ichmael: Holy... You... Argh!
Olfaja: I can't abide being interrupted. Anyway, Zallur's sick of this, so he's sent me to dispose of you.
Zallur (on radio): No, Olfaja, it's okay. Let him pass.
Olfaja: What?!
Zallur: I need you to deal with Clyke's remaining peons. I will deal with him.
Olfaja: ... Very well.

Olfaja runs off.

Ichmael: I won't take this sitting down!

Ichmael goes to the top floor which has a series of massive, complex machines... And a room at the end with... Zallur!

Ichmael: Now it's time to- Wait a second...

What appears to be Zallur sitting on a throne is really just a dummy with a tape recording on it.

Ichmael: What the?!

Just then Wexeh runs in.

Ichmael: Wexeh! Zallur isn't here! What's going on?!
Wexeh: I just barely managed to sneak past the remaining cultists. I found out something about these machines... They're not just using them to break the seal... Zallur is using them to increase his own power!

Wexeh walks up to one of the machines.

Wexeh: This one is used to extract electrical and geothermal power and transfer it to living things. He must have used this to power himself up.
Ichmael: Woah... Well we better shut down the other machines first.
Wexeh: Yeah, do that. I'll keep watch here.

Ichmael shuts off the other machines but Wexeh remains at the one he pointed out. Ichmael sees he is fiddling with it.

Ichmael: I think I shut them all down... What are you doing?
Wexeh: Hmm...
Ichmael: Wait, how did you even know all that in the first place?
Wexeh: Ahhahahaha... It's finished.

Wexeh turns a bright color. Something came out of the machine.

Wexeh: Zallur doesn't actually exist. It was just an identity I fabricated to control this cult while continuing my studies at Kroyuk's college.
Ichmael: You're the real cult leader!
Wexeh: Correct. You've been a real pain up until now... I sent you to that nexus hoping you'd get killed... Then I found out about Kroyuk's plan and figured I'd tip the palace off. If you won, I'd keep your trust. If you lost, you'd die. Whether Kroyuk succeeded was irrelevant to me. But now... It doesn't matter... The power of Kanulltharon at my very fingertips!
Ichmael: I shut all of your machines down. They're ruined. It's over.
Wexeh: How little you understand. Your efforts mean nothing. Now, behold the real power of Kanulltharon!
Ichmael: Fine.

The power dissipates from Wexeh. He is badly injured.

Wexeh: Agggggh....

Clyke runs up to Wexeh and handcuffs him.

Clyke: I'll make sure you get the death penalty, terrorist scum.
Ichmael: Now it's really over.
Wexeh: *cough*... heheheheh... That's what you think...
Ichmael: What are you talking about?
Wexeh: I'm the expert on Kanulltharon, aren't I... I noticed a while ago the seal was weakening... It's weakening on its own! Kanulltharon is too strong for it to hold forever! Then I thought I'd take advantage of it by forming a cult and taking its power for my own... But... These machines did nothing! Kanulltharon will be freed very soon now, by its own strength! You are all doomed!
Clyke: WHAT?!
Ichmael: Oh boy...

Olfaja has entered the room.

Olfaja: So it was all a lie?
Wexeh: Ugh...
Olfaja: About us being Kanulltharon's chosen? It was just so you could get personal gain from the inevitable? We would have been killed anyway?
Wexeh: ... Yes! Fools...
Olfaja: You... traitor... I won't stand for this... I'm gathering the remnants of our brotherhood so we can help Kanulltharon break free!
Ichmael: WHAT? You'll die too!
Olfaja: I don't mind. This world is full of filth.
Clyke: Get her!

Ichmael tries to run after Olfaja but he's too weak to catch her. She gets away. Ichmael and Clyke then take Wexeh out to their helicopter, where only 30% of the team has survived, and are also unable to catch Olfaja. They go back to Lathon Castle to report to the princess.

Sarre: Wexeh! YOU'RE the leader of this cult?
Wexeh: Well, I was...
Ichmael: The cult had nothing to do with the seal weakening. Kanulltharon is breaking out on its own. And Wexeh thinks it'll break free soon.
Sarre: Oh... my goodness....
Wexeh: Yes! Go ahead and arrest me! It means nothing!

He is taken away by other military officers.

Sarre: Now our only option is to go to the volcano seal directly and try to seal Kanulltharon up again.
Clyke: I agree, your highness. If Kanulltharon escapes, everyone is doomed.
Ichmael: ... I could go to Mt. Kanut and check it out.
Sarre: This will require entering Mt. Kanut itself. Very few could survive such a venture.
Ichmael: I could. I have my powers.
Sarre: Very well then... You can rest here and then right away I'll have you dropped off at the top of Mt. Kanut... You will have to enter the volcano, travel downward, and see what you can do. It is our only hope.
Ichmael: I'll do it. I don't want to let this planet die.
Sarre: Thank you so much... When you succeed... I'll have the best reward for you I can manage...
Clyke: WHEN? Not if?
Sarre: Thanks for the support, general.
Clyke: Sorry...
Ichmael: Well, thanks...

Ichmael goes off to rest.

Bioscan: Now what might that "reward" be...?
Ichmael: Shut up, you're a computer, well sort of anyway... We have more important things to worry about.

Of course Zallur or rather Wexeh wasn't the real final boss, I said there were 6 parts. Did anyone guess who Zallur might be? And by "anyone" I likely mean just mariostar. Anyone familiar with Pokemon Colosseum who checked the music links probably could have guessed it. Part 6 may be the longest one of all. Then after that's done I'll wrap this up with the true final battle, setting the stage for RC IV.

Rage Chronicles III Chapter 18: Decline of the Volcano Seal Finale: Part 6!

The next day at Lathon Castle Ichmael bumps into Cripof after getting up.

Ichmael: I don't suppose you knew your student was the leader of this cult, did you?
Cripof: Wexeh? No! I'm not the Kanulltharon expert!
Ichmael: Whatever.

Ichmael goes to acting queen Sarre.

Sarre: Ichmael... We need to act now. Clyke here will take you to the peak of Mt. Kanut, but none of his men can accompany you. You're the only one who might survive the extreme temperature in there.
Ichmael: ... Understood.
Sarre: I have no idea what can be done about Kanulltharon, but you need to try something.
Ichmael: Yeah, I will.
Clyke: Wexeh's confession indicated Kanulltharon will escape within 3 days [75 hours Earth time].
Ichmael: It shouldn't take me THAT long to get to the bottom of this... literally.
Sarre: My father is recuperating. He'd like to see you before you go... Our entire planet is depending on you... And so am I.
Ichmael: ... I know. I'll go.

Ichmael visits the wounded Karre.

Karre: Ichmael... You're going on this mission by... yourself...
Ichmael: Yep.
Karre: Understand this. Kanulltharon is unbeatable. Its power is unimaginable. Even you couldn't defeat it in open combat. All we can hope for is that the seal can be maintained.
Ichmael: ... Understood, sir. I'll still fight it if it comes to that.
Karre: Don't let it.
Ichmael: Right.

Ichmael is taken to the top of Mt. Kanut by Clyke, taking 1 hour.

Clyke: Here it is... I'll have a massive military force waiting in the event that Kanulltharon is freed. Although I doubt even nukes could tarnish it.
Ichmael: Alright, thanks. Off I go...

Ichmael is lowered into the hole the Stone Soldiers came out of...

Bioscan: I detect an unnatural labyrinth below. This is a very strange volcano. Almost... artificial.
Ichmael: That doesn't sound possible.
Bioscan: Perhaps.

A few Cultists are waiting.

Cultist #1: Ichmael!
Ichmael: So you heard the news? Kanulltharon's coming and you're all going to die too.
Cultist #2: So be it. We're prepared.
Ichmael: You disgust me.

Ichmael grabs them and dives down lower... The heat is getting intense. Too intense for the cultists. Luckily Ichmael is a little heat-resistant.

Cultist #1: Accck!
Cultist #2: Nooo!
Ichmael: I guess they didn't want to die after all.
Bioscan: The cultists shouldn't be able to pass this point.
Ichmael: Does that mean no more hostiles?

Just then a Stone Snake comes slithering out of a lava pool.

Ichmael: Guess not.

BATTLE!

Ichmael 500/500 VS Stone Snake 120/120
Ichmael uses Liquid Nitrogen! The Stone Snake's head freezes and sinks into the lava... The temperature difference breaks its head. Stone Snake is defeated!

Ichmael: I don't think they'll all be that easy.

Further down it is getting even too hot for Ichmael...

Ichmael: Ack! ... I could go for some heat resistance, mysterious mist giver...
Bioscan: You're taking to begging now?

Indeed, a strange object appears in front of them.

You got Heat Resistance 2! With this you can tolerate temperature up to slightly below that of lava.

Ichmael: Nice.

He keeps going down, following a lava river.

Bioscan: I believe we are about halfway to the volcano's base.
Ichmael: Kanulltharon is 5.5 miles tall. Mt. Kanut is 4 miles tall... So Kanulltharon can only be towards the bottom. At least part of it is under the volcano's base.

Ichmael then finds a locked metal door at the end of the river!

Ichmael: WHAT? A door? Down here?

Bioscan: This is definitely an artificial construction.
Ichmael: I guess I need to find a key...

Ichmael walks along another path and finds a small amount of magma blocks the way. He freezes it with liquid nitrogen and crosses. A nearby wall has some strange markings on it.

Ichmael: Huh?
Bioscan: It may be some kind of language, but I can't translate it.
Ichmael: Doesn't appear to be ancient Lathonian from what I've seen of it.
Bioscan: This planet may have been visited by another species in the past...
Ichmael: Could it have been aliens from the other inhabitable planets in this star system Cripof mentioned?
Bioscan: We'll have to investigate that.

A giant magma pool awaits, but luckily some rock is hanging from the top and Ichmael swings over it with the Hand Rope.

A burnt Lathonian corpse is nearby clutching the key!

Ichmael: Ugh... how did that one get all the way down here? Well, there's the key anyway.

Ichmael backtracks to the metal door and opens up. A long shaft await, and at the end is a door to a metal section.

Ichmael: This is getting weirder and weirder.
Bioscan: Someone built a facility on the side of the volcano.

Ichmael gets to the other door after a long trek. Inside it is much cooler...

Bioscan: I see another sketching on a wall. I can attempt a translation just by assuming the most-repeated word is "the". and the second-most repeated is "is". "The [2 unreadable words] is [5 unreadable]. [3 unreadable] is [3 unreadable]. [4 unreadable] the [unreadable]."
Ichmael: That's not very helpful.

A small machine comes up to Ichmael and attacks! It is promptly destroyed.

Bioscan: It appears this is some sort of monitoring station, probably to observe Kanulltharon.
Ichmael: Perhaps someone created it and then stashed it in this volcano for later use... But it's been a long time now... Why is the seal only failing now?
Bioscan: Perhaps whoever made all this now wants to release their creation.
Ichmael: Or like Wexeh said it's just breaking out on its own.

Another robot attacks! It is beaten after dealing 40 damage. Ichmael moves along and sees a familiar face...

Ichmael: Olfaja! How did you get in here?
Olfaja: I drilled in through the side. You cannot stop Kanulltharon! Whoever made it has decided it's time for it to be freed.
Ichmael: I'll still try.
Olfaja: I messed with some machinery in here and it seems to have accelerated Kanulltharon's time schedule. The volcano's already vibrating.
Ichmael: WHAT?
Olfaja: And now to delay you.
Ichmael: Fine, time to fight.

The volcano is rumbling a little.

Ichmael: Ack! I need to hurry!

Ichmael moves through the facility and finds a shut door next to an etching of Kanulltharon being inserted into a volcano, hoisted by spaceships.

Ichmael: So Kanulltharon ISN'T native to this world. It was moved here by spaceships. That explains why there's no record of a meteor-like collision resulting from its arrival.

A volcano replica is nearby with a Kanulltharon replica next to it.

Ichmael: Hmm...

Ichmael dumps the Kanulltharon replica into the volcano replica. The door opens.

Ichmael: Dumb aliens, making this little puzzle.

The exit out of the area is in the floor. Ichmael opens it and falls a VERY long distance.

Ichmael: AHHHH!

He uses his Fall-Slow power to land safely... on hot rock.

Bioscan: We are now below the volcano.
Ichmael: So we're in an open area within the planet's crust... How am I going to get out of here?

Some small stone soldiers are in the area and attack! They are beaten.

Ichmael: Are these supposed to be Kanulltharon spawns?
Bioscan: Most likely. Kanulltharon itself should be somewhere nearby.

Magma is everywhere. This area is rumbling too. Ichmael moves along a land bridge and finds a giant, strange colored wall.

Ichmael: How to get around this...

Some stone stairs are nearby. Ichmael goes up them. They go a fair distance up, partially circling around the strange wall. At the top, the wall is moving a little.

Ichmael: What is this...

A little electric shock moves along the top.

Ichmael: ... !
Bioscan: This is Kanulltharon itself.
Ichmael: It's... a lot simpler shaped than I was expecting. Like a plain cube.
Bioscan: That's probably a cocoon of sorts.
Ichmael: Uh... No ideas on how to stop it from breaking out.
Bioscan: I detect movement within the cocoon.

An electric jolt lashes out at Ichmael; he dodges.

Bioscan: I believe Kanulltharon has detected you.
Ichmael: Oh boy.

Ichmael: Oh ****, all I did was break it out of its cocoon.

Electricity surges around the area; Ichmael has to take cover. Kanulltharon starts climbing through the wall surrounding it, then surges electricity through its feet, greatly propelling it upwards.
