EA has it made known that the demo for the upcomming shooter will be ready for download on the 4th of october. What exactly will be found in the demo is yet to be known.

Apart from that the full game can be pre-ordered through the EA downloader.

Rumors are the patch will come out today. The rumors originate from Gamershell saying the patch will come out in a few hours and they will have it ready for download when it does.

If you are a Battlefield 2 player, EA will let you claim your new name now through the veteran program. To be able to do that, check out the official veteran page

The developers of Point of Existence have given the date the mod will officially come out to the public:

POE's release will go like this:
On Tuesday August 22nd at 7pm PST we will release server files.
On Thursday August 24th at 7pm PST we will open up a passworded client torrent release
On Saturday August 26th at 12noon PST we will release the download links and torrent password.

So get ready to play the mod this saturday!

Update:
Dice made a statement. It's not just going to be 24 hours. Patch has been delayed until further notice

2 am here, so I'm going to keep it short: The announcement planned for today promised that the patch will come out the following Tuesday. So expect to enjoy the new map then.

In further news on the veteran program; Dice gave out further details. ....war dance?

As of today the official website is up. The website offers all the info on titan mode, vehicles, maps and weapons. You can even take a look at all the possible unlocks.

On the EA UK forums one of the Dice employees hinted at an official announcement tomorrow about the 1.4 patch. This could mean the patch will be coming out in the next week if not tomorrow. Stay tuned for more.

On Battlefield 2142 front: The beta has been opened for subscribers of FilePlanet. Many people have voiced their dissagreement as this does not agree with being an open beta. In return Dice has made the following statement:
EA & DICE will be distributing codes through our regional managers
that will allow players direct and free access to the Tuning Beta. We
have contacted many groups already to bring them into the Tuning Beta
and will be opening the doors wider to allow for a great experience.
Players should keep their eyes on the official EA Battlefield news
spaces and their local forums for more information on EA & DICE VIP
key distribution.

The summer is at its highest point here and with it the end of a season. With the new season many new games will come out and others will slowly die until they are left to the hardcore players, the bargain bin searchers and the small lan parties.

Battlefield 2 is one of those games. Battlefield is still fully alive, but with the new Battlefield game around the corner and other companies also bringing out games to try to take a piece of the multiplayer FPS pie, the interest in Battlefield will diminish.

That leaves us with certain options. We already have a userbase and a solid base of people who are willing to help with games and technical problems. We can stay with just Battlefield 2, or expand to its franchise and maybe even to the whole multiplayer FPS genre for the PC. We can take in games like Quake Wars, Armed Assault, but also the older franchises like Counter Strike and Unreal Tournament.

Dice has announced in the Battlefield newsletter a veteran program for BF2142 to give the loyal BF2 fans exclusive benefits. At this point no details have been shared, but it seems Dice will give those who played Battlefield 2 an extra incentive to buy the next Battlefield game by maybe giving them extra options. If this is based on a player's BF2 statistics or just the fact that the player has a BF2 account is not yet known.

DICE is pleased to announce that we will be rewarding our loyal BF2 community by giving them exclusive benefits for enlisting with Battlefield 2142 when it comes out this October.

The next fase of the beta testing is starting now. Totalbf2 is the first to host the next part in 1.4 beta.

What is in the new beta you ask?

Road to Jalalabad
- Tickets adjustements
- Removal of 1 US tank to help address balance issues.

No Vehicles Option
- Added a new Server Browser Filter option for No Vehicles
- Return Health to default BF2 level
- Return Medic pack and Revive values to Default BF2
- Default spawn times to Default BF2 setting.
- No Vehicles is now a ranked server option!

We kept:
- Keep the current sprint bar setting (I.e. 2x sprint)
- Keep the current Vehicle exclusion list (i.e. we are not introducing
light jeeps etc, just keeping the boats on Carrier levels).

As before you can help test 1.4 and still play ranked 1.3 after that. Read the readme file to know how.

At the EA press event yesterday Gamespot got a chance to take on a 16 against 16 titan fight in BAttlefield 2142. All the info is here. Be sure to check out the new trailer as well for some more footage on some vehicles and infantry in action.

There he is again, Marcus Nilsson from Dice talking about the upcomming Battlefield 2142 game with Gamespot's Jason Ocampo. In the interview he'll talk about teamplay, titan mode and vehicle balance. Be sure to check out the new trailer as well.

Today EA confirmed the rumor of a new map in production: Road to Jalabad. This map will not be part of a boosterpack, but instead will be given for free with the new patch.
