Union Update - We're Still Here

I can't say that RPGU has been the most eventful place this year. I say this as if you scroll a little bit down this page you'll see a post from about this time last year titled 10,000 posts.

Unfortunately we don't have another 10,000 posts to celebrate about. We've only got 3,000... not bad considering there are only 365 days in a year. Plus considering my own constant absences leading to my lack of care and attention that probably should be given, but don't worry I would never forget about RPGU. As seen through my many attempts or should say failers to give up my leadership, which many of you have been reluctant to even allow me to do. So, I thought that I would pay a small tribute to those that kept this union alive even through its hardest times.

Firstly to my officers of which there are now just five. Celtic1962, who has filled the member's RPG reviews thread with more posts that have actual reviews then the rest of us combined. Duncanr2n, for helping keep the peace on the boards when the rest of us were reluctant to act. Ipodhero176 for always remaining so optimistic even in the middle of 'debate', I have never seen you say anything negative. god_yggdrasi, as from the beginning and even now (maybe even until the end) has always remained a dedicated member and officer since the union first started over two years ago. DurhamNC for his knowledge, unwillingness to be drawn into heated debate and for not letting me be the only one with 360 problems.

Finally to those of you who have returned, those of you who are new and those of you who like to contradict everything that we say and like (you know who you are. ) I'm pretty sure that this union would have died if it wasn't all of you here.

Hopefully 2009 will be a better year for us.

Lost Odyssey Hands-On

Mixed reactions after playing six hours, "Lost Odyssey has been a technical mess, with framerate problems in just about every cinema and on most maps, an animation system that looks like it was ported straight from a PS2 engine, and frequent, inconsistent load times accompanied by visual stuttering as new data loads in.... Barring a dramatic shift past the six hour mark, Lost Odyssey isn't going to blow people away with its visuals or presentation. But, aside from a few cliches here and there, all signs do point to an otherwise solid Japanese RPG."

RPGU Hits 10,000 Posts
After being up and running for just over a year now we've finally reached 10,000 posts. We may not be the most active of unions on Gamespot, but we are still going.

We have a few things going on too, all in the festivities for the coming holiday. Currently under preparation is the debate, Gameplay Vs Story. All we need is one more debater for Story's side and a dedicated Judge. If you think your up for it just go to the Debate sign-up thread and tell us why you'd make a great debater or judge. Also our character Hurt and Heal for 2007 is now open for character nominations, which will close this time next week, so get them in before then as ever single one counts.

3 Dragon Quest Remakes
Scans from Famitsu show that three of the Dragon Quest games, IV, V and VI are going to be getting a 3D remake onto Nintendo's DS. Probably somewhat in the same form as the Final Fantasy III DS remake and the upcoming Final Fantasy IV DS. These games will come in the wake of Dragon Quest IX also for the DS. It is expected that the first of these remakes, Dragon Quest IV will be released in Japan sometime around the end of the year. Unfortunately it is not known as this time whether these games will be going abroad.

Persona 3 In A Bind
Atlus have revealed today that the release of Persona 3 has been delayed. The game which was meant to be shipping in North America tomorrow, July 24, has run into some problems concerning the bindings of the artbook that it meant to be accompany the game at release. Faced with the options of shipping the game without the artbook, or with an artbook of low quality they instead favoured to temporally delay the game and have the artbook reprinted with stronger bindings.

According to a Company Representative it will only be a "very short delay in the ship date of the title." While there is no problems with the game, Atlus were not willing to abandon the artbook and will provide prior notice for when the game with artbook is ready to ship.
