Never look directly at the sun

I'm sure most of you know this but for any newbies to astronomy - NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN! (especially when using a telescope)

Why? Have you ever played with a magnifying glass in the sun?Well if you have, you'll know you can burn objects. By looking directly at the sun, you risk burning your retina (a handy part of the eye you don't want to burn)

If you'd like to look at the sun, check out NASA's SOHO site which contains some of the most awesome shots of the sun - in real time!
