^It's not a stereotype if it's true. And all those you kindly bolded are true for the majority. I wan't saying it as a directed insult. All those most often or not are facts. People especially when it comes to gamers are ignorant people but then again most people in the world are so that is true. People hop on bandwagons wow lets just bring up a BF3 VS MW3 debate. And blind fanboyism is always seen here on this board and throughout gaming as a whole. So I don't see why a few of you take it so personally when it's not even an insult. I feel like as kids you mist have been sheltered away from the world alot. Social skills lack and alot to be desired for.
Your presumption that that represents "the majority" is part of the problem. How did you come to that conclusion? I am not personally insulted but I can see how others can be. Indirect or not - ad hominems are a fallacy and thus should be avoided.
It isn't difficult to make a point without sprinkling unnecessary insults along the way even if you believe them to be true. Attack positions and arguments - not individuals or groups.
my two cents.
And seeing as how your a smart fellow I'm pretty sure you can either figure out who the majority gamers are. Ill give you a hint, flash games, mobile games, COD fanboys.

Goodbye Chewy. You were the best friend I could ask for. Rest in peace, buddy. - Jun 28, 2012 11:37 am GMTFor people like me who barely buy PSN games, it just isn't worth it. I pay for Xbox Live so I can play online. Even still, if I ever do buy a marketplace game, it is usually on the 360.

Some folks said, PS+ is a rental service. That once your subcription runs out, those "free games" are no longer free and you have to resubscribe in order to play them. How is this any different from a Netflix, Hulu Plus, or ANY subscription based service. It boggles my mind why people would even say something like this.
People say something like this because some PS+ subscribers treat it differently than Netflix or Hulu. If PS+ gives you free games with a sub, then Netflix gives you free movies and shows with a sub. It's not like it's a bad thing, but it's also not "free" like some people try to make it sound.Say you purchase the year subscription for $50.00. You can play all the free games you've downloaded from PSN for an entire year before having to resubscribe. You mean to tell me, an entire year is not enough time to play your free PS+ games?
It's $10.00 cheaper then Xbox Live (more so if you shop around), yet somehow it's a "BAD" service, because those free PS+ games are not yours to keep?
In regards to shopping around, it's pretty easy to snag a year of Live for $30-40, so I wouldn't try to use "if you shop around" like Live is locked in at $60 but you can find deals on PS+. (You can actually get it for a $1 a month if you get the deals from the dash & then go shut off auto-renewal each time)What kind of insanity is that? You spend more for one month of gamefly, then you would on 3 1/2 months of PS+.
PS+ is cheaper than Gamefly, for sure, but the selection is also very limited by comparison, and limited to 1 system on top of that. Gamefly costs more, but you have a much larger library to choose from. For that reason, they're not exactly comparable. Also 100% of the people who post this crap that PS+ is a bad service FAIL to mention every single time, is that games you purchase normally or with your PS+ discount are yours to keep forever, regardless if your subscription runs out or not. Also all free avatars, and themes via the service are yours to keep forever as well, even if your subscription ends.
And I see plenty of people "forget" that Live has gold deals every week and special promotions here & there on top of that. Not only do I only pay $30-40 a year for live, but also gold member discounts make it so I save *at least* that much on sales each year. Live and PS+ are the same in this regard. So I wouldn't say people fail to mention it, it's just that both of them do this so there's no point in trying to use it as "leverage" in these pointless console wars.I also do not understand why so few people on PSN have the PS+ service. It really stumps me, conidering the lastest releases of games to members. For example, only 9/65 of my friends on my friends list even have the service.
I imagine a lot of people don't have it because that's supposed to be one of PS3's big things over 360, not paying for a sub service. Not to say it's a bad service, but some people chose PS3 for free online play. Even if it comes with some great deals, it's still another subscription.

But I have PS + and I got it less than a month before the E3 announcement, so damn in my perspective, PS+ is way worth it. The subscription has already paid itself over many times with the discounts and rentals. Not to mention cool avatars/themes/etc.
Really the main thing us core gamers want is more FUNCTIONALITY for the online service, that's what I've been noticing. XBL users rave about having cross game chat. Well Sony, give us something to brag about other than rental games!

True, but you can easily swap that out with any company in those exact roles. Nintendo makes family-friendly games - that draws out Nintendo fans who think "family-friendly" means "only games for kids, and games for only kids." Microsoft... just insult a big Xbox-only franchise and that usually does it.

Why did you bother posting then? Most likely you did read the topic and are annoyed because you don't like ps+ so are acting like you didn't even read the topic.

I don't agree that PS+ is trash at all it's saved me a lot of money on getting games that I wanted for free that would have cost me a lot more money if I wasn't a member and the discounts have been very good as well.

Due to peoples extreme sensitivity, i had to change my sig. Im sorry. - Jun 28, 2012 5:10 pm GMTSo far from what people have posted, as to what would make them become PS+ memebers is the following:
1. Cross game/party chat.
2. Getting to pick which games you get for free.
I won't even entertain the notion of number 2, due to that being completly unreasonable. If you wish to rent a game, then by all means do so.
So with that said, let me post a "what if" scenario for you all. What if Sony offered the following for PS+ memebers on top of what they already offer currently:
1. Cross game/party chat.
2. Priority customer service.
3. Youtube application.
4. Firefox web browser.
5. Faster download speeds then non-members.
6. Send voice messages.
7. PS Home discounts.
8. Discounts off movies on PSN.
9. Have access to Dedicated Servers for gaming. (Free members still get P2P)
10. A higher level of security for accounts on PS+.
Would that change anyone's mind about the service then?

Its not like they have to rip off their fanbase to make money. There is so many damn ways to make money, advertisement being the easiest method.

Some of that should be implemented for free. Though if you keep the priority customer service, priority download speeds (not faster, caps are stupid), discounts, and maybe something else like getting betas free first would make it worth it. Cross game chat/party chat, youtube application, firefox web browser, and voice messages should be free. As for access to dedicated servers, that should be upto the actual game devs/pubs.
