all that build up, "no ones ever come back from capital city, no one knows whats in there", all the hype of weaponized mutants, and what is there?
hallways. the same stupid hallways the whole short time, with 3 enemies and no boss. no crazy revelation, no badass titanic boss fight, not even a good variance in Authority enemies. complete jack**** nothing. Nothing cool to do, no main bad guy, nothing to further the story, absolutely nothing. I feel cheated. what a waste of time on my part and theirs.

Silent Hill: Downpour is a return to form and one hell of a game, don't believe the disingenuous reviews, if you love real survival horror, give it a chance!

Yeah, the last mission is pretty anti-climactic.
But, the rest of the game is good. I'm sorry one mission angered you so much and ruined all the enjoyment you had with the rest of the game. You could probably cry to Bethesda/id Software about how much you didn't like the ending and demand a refund... it worked for people who didn't like Mass Effect 3 earlier this year.

I just beat it over the weekend. It was very disappointing.
Fun game up until then though

Yeah, I had heard the ending was bad, but wow. I mean, there basically isn't an ending. The last level had less variety and interesting parts than the area before it. I really liked this game and assumed people were exaggerating over the ending. Nope. It makes Mass Effect 3's ending look good, which is saying a lot. Still a fun game that I would recommend.

What ending? It feels like the game crashes and boots directly to credits

I remember beating this and doing what I do with all *good* games that I play...........immediately started up another play through!
But I will admit for people who play VGs for story.........yeah......really wouldn't recommend this game. Rage is MADE for people who are annoyed with only being able to carry 2 weapons in shooters.

if you look at the trophy menu it's doubled meaning there was obviously some sp dlc with trophies being planned or made. will we ever see it? don't know.

Yeah, Id Software makes great games; but storytellers, they are not.
I've said it before, but I'm worried about Id. It seems like they're falling more and more to the sidelines. It seems that it might be an eventuality that we won't be seeing them developing games, anymore :/
I mean, besides this game's reception, the Doom 3 BFG Edition board is dead.

There is a rumor that there will be dlc that adds in cut content that has to do with The Scorchers, not sure if this will pan out though. I'd like to hope, and that it actually ends the game decently.

Come on people, what was the last game you played where you went "Wow, Holy s**t." at the ending. Crappy endings are the norm.

Red Dead Redemption is apparently the last one I've played that had a good ending.

Though there are many with sufficient endings, I'd say.

To me the ending feels like it leaves the game open for a second part to come out. However I agree, the lack of any really big super boss was disappointing.

Which would have been fine if it had sold better and opened the possibility for a sequel.

Ending was very "what the heckish" but I tell ya.. I have grown tired of FPS. Ever since Golden Eye 64 I have enjoyed them but the last couple of years, I have been done with them. Even Halo Reach didn't excite me and I used to LOVE halo. I bought this game for 9.99 just for the heck of it and man, I really grew to appreciate, I really didn't think I would enjoy this one but it was fun.

i'll say again, the ending wasn't bad because the game didn't have an ending. it was a setup for a series. too bad there won't be one.

The game probably won't get a sequel, unfortunately. But I enjoyed it a lot. Best FPS gunplay I've experienced in a long time. Id software know how to design games. Not so much gripping stories. But I didn't care, because the gameplay in this was solid as a rock.

Agreed. I picked this game up because some friends want to do a LAN party with it. I decided to play single player a bit first. Not only was I disappointed in the length (it didn't seem that long), but the ending was pretty anti-climatic.
On top of which, you don't get to go back and free-roam when you're done. I don't remember the last open-world game that wouldn't let you free-roam when you were done.
Aug 27, 2012 10:10 am GMT
^ Wolfenstein didn't let you free roam around after beating it,either, and that one was more successful at the free roam aspect.
