In the beggining of the review, ins't that the same shot of mars used in Saint's Row The Third. Makes sense since its the same developer and publisher.

This game was great. Sure, the characters have painful banter, they are underdeveloped, and the story is boring and generic, but f*** that combat was fantastic.

@UziRider3001. Point well made, alot of people buy into game series half way through the franchises lifespan and think they know the games. I would have to say though that both Guerilla AND Armageddon are both quite different to the original games, mostly for the fact that nowadays they have begun going with a third-person perspective as opposed to the original games with their FPS style. And although Geurilla was very different in that it was open world it did concentrate primarily on the political side of things and human enemies like the old games did whereas the primary focus on aliens in Armageddon is a new direction again. So all in all the series seems to be constantly reinventing itself since the 2nd game back on PS2. P.S Excellent game especially at the bargain price you can get it for now. The surprise hit of 2011 for me, I like it when games that aren't hyped to death shock me by how good they are when I get round to playing them.

I really like this game, and it is one of the most funny horde mode I do remember, it also run at 60 Frame per second, so sorry if there won't be another red faction game

Well i bought this game 3 days ago and i have not played it's predecessor ,but i can say that i'ts not a Bad game, the magnet gun it's fun and it becomes instantly your best friend because you run out of ammo really fast in the campaign(i´d play it in the hardest difficulty, the magnet gun has infinite ammo) ,but for some reason (for me of course) it's the kind of game that you don't want to play anymore after you complete the campaign (it's fun while it last, except in the final moments of the campaign where the bugs became a serious pain in the ass,you know, the kind of situation where your enemies respawn eternally and you get out of ammo and if you try to escape they chase you throughout the whole level, shooting at you, well you get the idea), there is a mode that seems like the horde from gears of war 2 called infestation, but killing bugs it's not as fun as killing locust.

So many improvements, and yet they took out everything good about the first...

@baza66 - Yes, a linear shooter in a series of linear shooters really feels out of place. You know, Guerrilla is NOT the only, nor first red faction. Armageddon actually goes back to it's roots and is much more Red Faction than guerrilla was.

Great game but didn't have the same freedom Guerrilla did.

I just beat the game on Monday. It was a solid campaign. Some parts did drag on too long and it isn't the best looking game. It was still a lot of fun, though. I am going to jump into Multiplayer tonight and see how that is. Seems like an easy Platinum, though! Great review. I love the New Game + feature. Why don't more games incorporate this?

baza66

I liked the game but it didn't feel like Red Faction. I did really like the open world concept of the last game better. Disappointed.

I never thought I could love a Third Person Shooter as much or even more than I love Gears. But this game came darn close.

@shadow655 I get the feeling Volition made a more linear game this time around to please the fans of the first two, which then somewhat alienated us dudes that LOVED Guerrilla. RFG was also one of the few games I enjoyed playing competitively online, so it kinda sucks that they ripped that out of Armageddon. I guess they're trying to show that Guerrilla is not necessarily outdated by this new game, yet they're intended to be two totally different experiences. I think they also didn't want the game to get stagnant by adding a repeat of what they did in Guerrilla, but you're right... they could have made the underground more open! I dunno; sometimes I wish these game developers would stop trying to please the fans so much, because they limit their own creativity in the process by not doing what they feel is best instead.

shadow655
shadow655

@Egotte Yeah I felt the same thing about the IGN Infamous 2 review. The Red Faction Armageddon IGN review I felt it deserve that score cause in my opinion they should have made it a DLC instead of a full priced game. But then again Im more of a open world type gamer so Im a little sore about them taking it out... I was expecting them to build on the last game not to do something like this! If it was underground and open world I would love this game! But the destructible elements alone are not enough for me. Combine Armageddon and Guerrilla then u got yourself a awesome game!

Egotte
Egotte

@shadow655 My point is that I'm over it. Red Faction is easily deserving of an 8 by my standards, and inFamous 2 is better than a 7.5 in my book. I haven't been crazy about Kevin V or Tom McShea's reviews of late myself, but they're going to go about their business as they have. I think the inFamous 2 review on IGN may have been a little overly glorified, however, and they scred Red Faction a point too low, but that's my opinion!

shadow655
shadow655

@Egotte When I said mistakes I meant incorrect information. I don't have a problem with Gamespot cause they have other good reviewers other than these guys. And its not my opinion its the facts that I have gathered. I'm not crying about it I'm pointing out obvious mistakes that people like u don't understand. I don't know why your still saying Im mad cause they don't agree with me? Cause I told u before they made obvious mistakes that were incorrect. Can u even find the mistakes in the infamous 2 review?

Egotte
Egotte

@shadow655 Mistakes to you, maybe, not necessarily "mistakes" to someone else. It's all subjective, so it's nearly impossible to argue one score or the other. If you don't like what Gamespot is telling you, then spend your time on IGN, but the message you're sending to me is that you just don't like to hear contrary to your opinions on both games, so naturally you will think the reviews that agree with you more credible. That said, best to head over there instead of crying to me about it!

shadow655
shadow655

@Egotte Sorry but I'm not one of those idiots who wants to hear that a game they like should get a good score... I found mistakes in both reviews on Gamespot and compared it with ign and came to a conclusion. And there r mistakes in the score in this case cause they both games had a predecessor which would be what they would use to compare them. Which was not done in ether case. Also they used more of there own feelings instead of actual information.

Egotte
Egotte

@shadow655 There is no right or wrong in scoring. It's the individual reviewers' opinions. I really don't think I can score both of them properly yet, but I think I liked Guerrilla more. I'm not sure inFamous 2 is better than the first yet, if not for the visuals. Two entirely different reviewers took on each game here, so don't be surprised if you hear something you don't want to hear.

shadow655
shadow655

@Egotte Yeah cause in the infamous 2 review the guy made obvious mistakes and it seem like he didn't even like the game before he played it. Where in this review they tells us it gets a 8 cause of a stupid gun? this review is pretty much tell us a game that has less than the first is better? But the infamous 2 review is telling us that it has more than the first but is worst than it? The reason were comparing the two is because the scores don't make sense cause they should be the other way around. IGN got it right at least... RFA got a 7 and Infamous 2 got a 9.

Let's all ream Chris out now because he didn't give it a higher score, like the whiners are doing to Tom with InFamous 2. Great review Chris. Exceptionally fair, and slightly above the rest of the curve!

@Brokenhope69 I'm with you on that! I've always liked melee more than wizardry. So I'll go with the blood and guts of Prototype any day of the week, even if InFamous can be entertaining. Are you the kinda person that spends a lot of time in Red Faction with the sledgehammer!? I know I sure as Hell am!
