I have made it to antarctica with Chris, but seem to have gotten stuck. I looked online to see what to do and it tells me that you need to kill the gulp worm to retrieve the lighter. Problem is, i ran away from it and can't seem to get back to the gulp worm. I dont have a lighter and i feel SOL. Can someone please tell me if there is a way to get back to the gulp worm from antarctica with Chris?

I hope you at least put the empty fire extinguisher into the item box as Claire.
Not that it's a big deal, as long as you collect the bowpowder and enough arrows to make use of them. You may want to save them for the final boss fight.
The next time you gain control of Claire it will just be for a brief time, and you won't be able to save as her. Then she'll pass out of your control forever. Give her a couple of healing items and that's it. Be sure to have her unlock any cases, too.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

^ You need it to get the magnum revolver.

Yet another person trolled by the seemingly unimportant nature of the Empty Fire Extinguisher.
Perhaps I should start a "Sign Here If You Didn't Bring The Empty Extinguisher With You To Antarctica On Your First Playthrough" topic.

There is no such thing as a "Quick Time Event done right".
A game that has Quick Time Events is a "video game done wrong".

I'll sign that, just finished the game for the first time, and left the fire extinguisher in the metal detector security depot as Claire LOL.
Still easily kicked Alexia's ass with some flame rounds and sub's though.

It's very easy to forget about the EE, I remember when I was trying to do a "A" rank, and when I realized I forgot it there so I decided to do it again

It happens.
Seems to me like it was an evil plan by Capcom 12 years ago when they were developing this game haha

You mean to tell me that in this game, it's a possibility that you're unable to proceed based on you not storing an item at a specific time? What a bunch of BS.
This is my first time playing this game and I'm glad I saw this.

I guess you misunderstand; the lighter and the empty fire extinguisher are NOT key items. You don't need them to proceed through the game normally. Having both of them just make the game a little easier in the later portion.

Yea even without the magnum this game throws plenty of ammo at you for the other guns. so many people act like forgetting the fire extinguisher breaks the game, the magnum is just a bonus weapon.
My only complaint from a design point is the small part you play as Clare, you're naturally going to give her a big weapon or two, but whatever she has on her when you lose control is gone for good. I think I was lucky and only lost the bowgun on my first play.

Lighter will not help you in Antarctica. Not even any bats to fend off with it. The lighter for Chris is used to obtain a pair of Sub-Machine Guns (the ones Steve used + a full clip). Bring the lighter to the save room just before the Gulp Worm and look for where to use it.
Everything you need to beat the game is ahead of you. Keep it up!

I've often wondered if the lighter would help Claire vs the poisonous moths. Has anyone ever checked?
