The Bottom Line:
"Old-school"
I was a little reluctant to by the Nintendo 3DS, but now I really happy with it and Resident Evil Revelations is another game in this console that makes me glad to have bought it.

RER goes back to the survival mode like RE and RE2. It's not as hard as those two, but the ambient is dark and tense. If you remember the first game, you played in a mansion in Racon City, searching it's rooms for clues, items and keys. In RER you play in a cruise ship, following almost the same recipe as RE, but with better graphics and better controls. The main difference, and that makes a game a bit easier then the older ones, is the inclusion of the genesis device, which allows you to scan enemies and areas to find more items, mostly ammo.

This in a way is bad because in normal mode (haven't played the veteran mode yet), you never run out o bullets, unless you aiming is really bad, and in my opinion that's what made RE and RE2 so intense, the decision to waste your bullets on a certain enemy or just try to run past through them so you had ammo for when you really needed.

Another thing that brings me back to RE and RE2 is that, even though the game is linear, you can explore the cruise ship as you like, regarding you have found the proper key to open the doors.

In RER you play the game from several points of view, meaning that you'll control different characters, but you play the game mainly as Jill, from RE and RE3,and hers are the really good sections of the game. Some other characters are more action oriented and not as much as survival. Independent with which character you are playing, there will always be a companion with you (with few exceptions) and even though they don't deal much damage in enemies, and enemy don't focus their efforts on them, it's good to know you are not alone. The good think is that, different from RE5, your companion never dies, so you don't really have to worry about them.

In all, I think this is a great addition the RE world and if you like the franchise, this is a definitely must buy
