E3 2012: SimCity is back and it looks better than ever before.
The lady does what she's paid for, hype up a product using some strong marketing words and so do the few paid EA fanboys in the audience, scream and applaud to incite the rest to join in. (otherwise there'd have been absolute silence in the audience)
And this needs a permanent online connection because ..?
Only because EA wants to have their iron grip around customers I believe, there's absolutely no reason not to handle the multiple area aspect offline as it was with the previous simcity and make online multiplayer just an option.
Simply simulate the economy offline, no big deal, previous simcity did this, CitiesXL does this and lots of others do too - If that's EA's argument for permanent online requirement it's a poor one.
Would be bought if it had an offline mode (and didn't require Origin and didn't have any DRM).
Too bad Maxis is on EA's leash, would've been entertaining to play.
Guess I'll have to wait for the development team to get fired after bad sales numbers (blamed on piracy of course), for the developers to create a business of their own and recreate a DRM free, not to EA related simcity clone with about the same features then.
I'll definitely give this one a shot! Been a fan of Sim City since I had it on my SNES (yes I'm lame and didn't have a PC back then... so sue me!)
I'm so happy about this, i have waited for Simcity 5 since 2005. But at the same time i'm sad that the crowd didn't even scream with all those new things. Some people only get attracted to insanely stupid and fast action trailers that don't reflect the reality of a mediocre and generic game. And welp, i would like them to add more darkness to nights, and more yellow/white lights in buildings, also red lights in cars, a lot of billboards and lights! lights! lights! With blue darkness at background, like real big cities (i loved that about simcity 4 lol haha).
