as usual xbox 360 exclusive is again, a shooting game... sony has plenty of genres to choose from but xbox360, no comment. btw, ps3 and xbox360 owner here.

How often does a sequel in a blockbuster franchise manage to hit the sweet spot, preserving the elements that made its predecessors so beloved while simultaneously taking things in a bold new direction? If its showing at E3 is any indication, Halo 4 might be one of the few games that pulls it off.
Master Chief seems to be the same stalwart hero we know and love, but the planet of Requiem is unlike any world the series has taken us to before. It's inhabited by intriguing new enemies called the Prometheans who have abilities that set them apart from the foes Master Chief has battled in the past, and who may have a connection to the Forerunners who loom so large in Halo's lore. Meanwhile, Cortana is deteriorating; a development that seems sure to have a significant impact on the understated relationship that has always been at the core of the Halo games.
With the episodic Spartan Ops mode and competitive play that aims to balance customization with the established feel of the series, Halo 4 appears poised to be a terrific mixture of old and new in multiplayer as well as single-player. Right now, it looks like so much more than just another Halo game. It looks like the beginning of a promising new era in one of the most defining franchises of the past ten years.

It looks like the same game to me; which is why it is my least most anticipated of all titles. I wan't it to be different so I can find something attractive about it.

3 Like crysis 3 does actually look better in terms of graphics BUT gameplay, storyline, character development, score and all the other magic that makes halo one of the best franchises in the world is missing from crysis 3. And halo's graphics were pretty amazing. Chief is back and halo's rightful place as no1 fps and even no1 game on xbox should be aswel.
@Slayt0n No just no. No2 xbox, second to minecraft, and never the no1 fps, maybe on consoles, but pc has battlefield 3, the real version, we have half life. And if you even maybe game, you know that is the best fps of all time.
@Liamfarley1998 i did say the no1 fps on xbox, i did not mean the no1 fps ever made but then again i wouldn't be surprised if it was. I have played half life 2 which was okay i guess but it just reminded me of halo and made me think how much more awesome it would be if i was the chief instead of gordon freeman running around killing crab heads. I have not played battlefield 3 but i like the graphics, still its too down to earth where as halo is a whole new exciting universe where u not just running around killing terrorists who threaten the usa, instead u killing aliens that threaten our very existence as a species... kind of like mass effect which is another great game.
@Slayt0n Half life is amazing, chief is a bit to much for it. It's really story driven. Battlefield is fun for multiplayer, the giant maps are amazing. If you play pc at all, their is this awesome indie game called spaceforge, which is like minecraft/halo, hard to believe but totally awesome one you see it.
@Slayt0n Of course everything in Halo looks better. After MS buy all the sites to ALWAYS talk good about Halo, even the Pope would believe in that sh!t. Oh, man, what money can do.
@ClaudiusCaesar It is kind of obvious that you need money to make a good game. I dont think MS have bought all the sites but i do think they have bought and assembled one of the best teams with the best equipment to ever work on a game - 343i.
@ClaudiusCaesar well if you include the new web series - forward unto dawn as marketing (which i do) then yeah... BUT it is great marketing that just makes halo even more awesome. I have always been a sucker for the live action sequences - deliver hope was so well done.

When you say halo 4 will fail, what exactly do you mean??? i'm guessing you mean it will fail according to you and maybe your friends because if you think reach and odst failed you are very wrong. Reach is one of the most successful games on the xbox... ever!
1 Like @xblackdivine ...Huh? He does have a valid point though. I miss the Old Bungie (Halo 3) They made good halo games, ever since the law suit between Microsoft and Bungie halo games aren't halo games at all. Halo ODST never would have happened, it WAS going to be DLC for Halo 3...
And Halo Reach was pathetic, didn't even have the Halo feel. Microsoft only cares for profits and now since they pretty much control Bungie any Halo game wont live up to the older ones. Halo 4 is going to fail, just like odst and reach.

This is not "just another Halo game". 343 is making a conscious effort to change the Halo experience in a way that keeps it interesting, while still being true to its roots.
Do I know whether it will be good or not? No. It might end up being just as derivative as Reach. BUT, it looks promising.

2 Like Dont know how u can hate a game franchise as succesful as Halo. I dont mean that u have to love it, but why hate it what has it done to u? I personally think that halo series boosted the fps genre, maybe not like cod but it does have its credits (the story kinda resembles that of Mass Effect, with a bit of Star Wars). Dont get me wrong I´m a big fan of the MGS series too, God of War series is a mark for hack n slash games and the Uncharted series is one of the best single player experience we have for this generation, not to metion multiplatform games like Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, COD or Final Fantasy (witch got worse nowadays, but stil a respectful series) they have good point and bad ones but not enough for u to hate it!
@EduardoNL What did Halo do that was new in the fps genre? I remember feeling unimpressed when the first one came out because it didn't feel like it innovated any.

@AdroZ95 I honestly wish they would let kinect die. If the next x box has kinect built in I wont buy it. I'll just go back to PC gaming. Though you do have a good point on everybody waiting for the next generation of consoles to come out. The problem is its making for some pretty stale games currently. Skyrim was the last game with major wow factor in it.
1 Like @constantterror Just informing you that Microsoft is more likely to announce the release of their next generation console in 2014. Right now we are seeing all the entertainment features being added at the moment e.g. smart glass. Next year I expect a next generation of the kinect than in the following year expect the new xbox.
@kingdakka No cause M$ couldn't crate a piece of toilet paper none the less a new ip hint that's why they pay 3rd party's to give them timed exclusives cause M$ sucks big time.

Most companies aren't going to start developing a new series for a generation of hardware that is far too old and going away soon when they can focus on creating a new ip for a new generation of hardware that they can carry on for the length of that generation and ensure a big wow factor next year with the new consoles.

I mean come on, Halo 4, Assasins creed 3, another COD, splinter cell, Pikmin 3, transformers, borderlands, Tomb raider, Doa 5, Hitman...... the list goes on and on!

4 Like @kingdakka I agree with you but I'm a Halo fan and I just love the franchise. Lucky that it's not cod and bring out a game every year halo came out in 2001 followed by halo 2 in late 2004 halo 3 came out in late 2007 so that was the last game in the "trilogy". Now Halo 4 is the start of the new trilogy the "reclaimer". The rest of the games; reach, halo wars and odst are just spin offs while this is just the start of the new trilogy so Halo isn't finished yet.

1 Like @AdroZ95 Also I finished the fight in 08', why cant it stay finished? I was satisfied with the ending. Which is why Halo 1,2,3 will always have a fond place in my mind. Halo 4 could ruin that due to the fight not being finished!!
3 Like @AdroZ95 I agree with you on COD, we don't need anymore. that franchise needs to be retired also. Its getting to the point where COD, Halo, battlefield are like sports games. You get one every year and they are 95% the previous game with a few graphics updates and 1 or 2 new features. I'm getting burned out on the whole annual generic FPS. Is creativity so lacking that nobody can come up with a new franchise?
