Beenox has a lot of potential. I enjoyed Shattered Dimensions despite it's flaws. I got this as an early Christmas present and will no doubt enjoy it but more depth and an open world would be nice.
Instead of releasing a Spiderman game every year, it would be nice to see Beenox spend a bit more time on the next one (seems like every release is always a decent, but Rocksteady has really upped the bar for superhero games). Of course, with Activision at the helm, how likely are they to do something like that? Look at it, the formula for success is right there! An essentially "reskinned" Batman: Arkham City wouldn't be a terrible idea.
After Shattered dimensions was so boring, repetitive and closed in, I'll wait until someone else other then Beenox handles the franchise!
Oh man. Edge of Time worst than Shattered Dimensions? Thought lesser characters would have more focus gameplay. Spiderman's games worth playing once because of the story, other than that is disappointing.
Hopefully Arkham City's success will impress any future developers on Spider-Man games and convince them to take the road of open world once again. And preferably with swinging mechanics like in Spider-Man 2, with a game mechanic upgrade ofc. Oh, and can we FINALLY get some Watchmen type violence in these superhero games? Why are they being tailored for children? I bet that most Spidey fans would understand that throwing a dude face first into a wall, will actually leave a blood trail.
1:51 jesus, parker is jacked. i always knew it, he took something. you cant blame that stuff on a spider bite man
If they release it for $20 when it comes out for the pc I will probably pick it up. Shattered dimensions wasnt anything special, but it was still pretty fun. When S.D. was released for pc it was only $20 and that was awesome.
@LooseTeeth I know they differ, and I also mentiond that it should have a witty peter parker, I didn't mean serious as a french new wave film, but not looking like a tv show for kindergarten kids, a work of fun and fantasy, meanwhile serious in it's own way
When games with a potentially interesting license are released out of sync with other media(s), like a TV show or movie, my interest is always peeked. It's unfortunate that more wasn't done to expand on virtues of the Marvel character catalogue other than some flashy costume changes/cameos. I agree with @Saayko- A more serious tone to the Spiderman series would definitely be a great thing to see- but definitely difficult to execute given the nature of the character and surroundings. Rhino and Scorpion just don't seem...menacing, when compared to Batman's counterparts in Gotham's bleak setting.
@Codester_41 Having little to do in NYC is only the fault of the people making the game. I think adding a lot of different things to do would make things interesting: muggings, bank robberies, buildings on fire, car jackings, etc. Make it as mixed as possible. And then, so you don't feel guilty swinging past those occurances, you're given the option to turn off that particular event (or type of event) if you do X number of them.
Every review she does has at least 10 percent of the comments talking about if the reviewer was a guy or a girl. I ignored it for awhile but come on, this is deliberate and rubbish grow the heck up and stop making gamers look like immature douches.
@RPG_Fan_I_Am The reviewer is a girl and she is the one talking the whole time it would be stupid if they showed one reviewer and used another one's voice, it just wouldn't make sense.
Spider-Man needs a more serious game, something like Arkham series for Batman, A game with much better and more realistic graphics, free roaming in NY city making you actuallly FEEL like being spidey with all the great swing and webbing and crawling, classic mainstream universe villains and epic boss battles, a witty Peter Parker and a well-designed combo and fighting system
speaking of Return of free roaming: Wouldn't it kick @$$ if you got to free roam in Spider-man 2099's city? flying all over the place with trippy, seizure-like lights whizzing past you! We need GTA: episodes of Spider2099, Hijacking vehicles and crap!
@ RedWave247 Meh, Wasn't much to do around NY anyways... It'd be more accurate if you had a crime on every block and had to choose which crime to stop. Even Spider-man couldn't stop EVERY crime out there! XD Boo for this game though. Played it and hated it. Spider-man, your making me ashamed to call you my fav. :'(
I dug Shattered Dimensions, but this one feels like step back. Sadly, it's just another Spider-Man game that DOESN'T let you websling all over New York at your discretion.
this is kinda depressing..I was hoping this would be a great game...seems likke just another subpar attempt...
this game should have a regular story ...every season has some different story but no conclusion. I hope there is a regular series so we can keep trace for the next story
why does spider man crawl on his belly, through a vent that looks like he could run through? Spidertard
I just want another good open world spiderman game. Ultimate Spiderman and Spiderman 2 were really good but it seems like all of the recent games have been mediocre.
What... Activision releasing a linear generic comic book beat-em-up... say it ain't so. As like many other comic book games these days its the same formula, go from point A to point B beating up endless streams of generic baddies with the same string of moves. A Spider-man game where the hero who is a high flying character is limited to doing his web swinging in confined areas is like a game where super-man who can fly anywhere is confined to flying through rings.
What's funny is that Marvel movies are better than DC movies, but DC games are better than Marvel games.
All super hero games just need to look at the new batman games and take a lesson. Im a marvel fan but they need to step their game up.
