The Starfox Story

I should really post a short summary of what has happened due to my absense shouldn't I?

Okay here goes.

A while after the Aparoid invasion the Starfox team had split up and went their own seperate ways. Falco making his own team, Slippy moving in with his fiance, and Krystal and Fox's relationship hitting the rocks.
On a routine mission, Fox and his team consisting of Katt and Bill recieved a distress call from a Katina base which was under attack.
After fleeing from the threat which was too large to handle, Falco decided the only thing to do was to reform the starfox team.
After many harsh battles the team was reunited and managed to track down a mothership which was ordering the attacks to sector Y. However, they were unable to bypass the shields and so set off to find parts for a laser capable of destroying the shield.

And so the story continues with the team heading towards venom...

~ Chapter 3.1 Like Grandfather like Grandson ~
As the Great Fox enters Venom’s atmosphere, Dash comes over radio.
“Star Fox, during your time away it pains me to say I have gotten no further in finding out who is the spy in my ranks, but I do have the blue prints for that satellite, it seems they were archived on an old data storage capsule. Bring the Great Fox down to my base; I’ll see if I can start reassembling that satellite for you.” Dash says quickly.
“Alright Dash, we’ll see you soon.” Fox replies. “Ok Lucy, let’s take her down. Falco, you’re heading inside with me, everyone else stay on the command bridge until further notice.”
“What, how come you don’t want me in the air?” Falco asks shocked.
“Because you flew with Dash for a short time, you can tell if he’s lying to us at any time, Dash seems to be on our side, but... I don’t know... I just don’t trust it as far as I could throw it.” Fox replies as he and Falco quickly leave the command room and walk towards the cargo bay.
As the Great Fox lands in the base, Dash quickly exits the area and walks down to greet them.
“It’s nice to see you all again in more peaceful times, do you mind if we take a walk to my office, I’ll have my men transport the components into the laboratory.” Dash inquires
“Sure, we’ve got a few things to talk about anyways.” Fox replies as the three of them walk inside.
When they reach Dash’s office he explains what happened after the incident on the flagship.
“You see, I honestly have no idea who set that bomb, I’m certain those that did became trapped on the ship and are now nothing but space dust, and without them, I cannot find out who is commanding them to do this to me. But anyways, let me see if we have all we need to build this laser.” Dash begins as he heads toward and Elevator with Fox and Falco following suit.
“We should have enough; we have the 3 parts that you mentioned to us.” Fox replies quickly.
“Of course, however, while you were gone I became busy in the search for the blue prints for such a weapon, scouring the internal database’s in an effort to find it, and find it I did, unfortunately, it seems to require one more part...” Dash replies as he brings up the schematics on a monitor.
“What! You lied to us!? Whats not to say this is just an elaborate trap?” Falco remarks angrily.
“Mr. Lombardi, if I wanted to have you killed, I would have had it done at many other numerous more convenient times, I would not leave it until the Lylat system is in peril. Now, rather than fighting, why don’t you leave me to begin construction, and you and your team head to find that last part, as luckily, I think you and I both know where the final part is, Don’t you think Mr. McCloud?” Dash replies explaining himself quickly in an effort to calm Falco.
“You don’t mean to say...” Fox begins

“Yes Fox, the base here on Venom you destroyed when you annihilated Andross was only one on a much larger network, fortunately the explosions ripped through most of that network rendering all other parts of the bases inactive, however, there is one Munitions development storage centre deep in the inner sanctums of Andross’s main base, this area went into critical lock down when the explosions occurred to prevent cataclysmic destruction of eco-systems across the Lylat system, this is because that base holds Bio-chemical weapons the likes of which we’ve never seen.” Dash continues
“So why can’t we go there now and get that part?” Falco inquires impatiently.
“Unfortunately the door which seals the room is made of nearly impenetrable Ferro clad diamonixium Zirconium. Not even the strongest mining drills can breach the door. Explosives simply lightly heat the door, and even more annoyingly, the explosion rendered all electronic door lease locks inactive, the door is firmly locked in place. But... upon looking at further schematics of the base networks, It seems that the acid sea of venom has a small cave network, one of which runs directly past the underground base. If the acidity levels are correct, it may have weakened an outer wall just enough for you to blast a hole in the wall allowing you entry, unfortunately, you will have to make your Arwing’s immune to the effects of the highly corrosive acid, and you will also need Bio-armour too.” Dash concludes.
“Alright, Falco, let’s get out of here, hopefully Lucy has come back from a short expedition to Corneria to buy new upgrades to the ships and for our armour. Hopefully she’ll have the Bio-shields necessary for the mission.” Fox says to Falco as they both thank Dash, and proceed to leave.
With everyone now aboard the Great Fox again, Fox explains what he has learnt.
“You can’t be serious! You’re not going to that place again. It’s too dangerous, if you go, I go too.” Krystal says stubbornly.
“You’re not leaving me out of the party this time either Fox, Slippy’s coming too!” Slippy adds also.
“I guess I’ll join you too, it’s been a while since I got to try out my sea legs, haha” Bill laughs.
“Ok, me, Krystal, Slippy and Bill will swim down the small cave system and extract the satellite part. Falco, Katt, I want you ready to leave at anytime.” Fox commands.
“Fox, you had better be careful down there, we still don’t know if there are any traps remaining!” Lucy replies.
“Hah, don’t sweat Lucy, Fox, Krystal and Bill know what they’re doin’.” Falco laughs confidently.
“Yeah we know what we’re do—Hey!” Slippy replies noticing Falco failing to mention him.
“Quit it you two, we haven’t got enough time for fooling around.” Fox says as the team quickly get in their Arwing’s and depart for the planet.
When the team finally reaches the planet, they quickly notice the water way which has since become overgrown with plant life, however a strange glow emanates from the water.
“Alright team, suit up, we’re going swimming, but under no circumstance take off any of your gear, if you do the water will burn straight through you” Fox commands as he quickly dives into the pool.

As the team swim through the caverns, they quickly find some small resistance in the form on marine life, small fish like beings which carry small arms weapons and mechanical marine life. It seems Drakor wasn’t the only thing Andross’s mind had concocted in his exile from Corneria. As the team fires and destroys anything which poses a threat, Slippy notices a hole in the alcove in the tunnel with badly corroded metal plating.
“Fox, I think I’ve found that entrance Dash told you about.” Slippy says excitedly.
“Alright slippy, plant the detonator and we’ll see if we can’t make our way inside.” Fox replies as Slippy begins to affix the waterproof explosives.
“Ok, everyone get back, I’m beginning the countdown. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1” Slippy announces as he presses down on the fuse button.
At this instant a large explosion rocks the nearby area and shakes rocks loose from the roof of the cavern.
“Are we good?” Bill asks curiously
“Yeah, looks like we are in, though the power is still out, so it’s completely dark inside!” Slippy replies.
“Let me go in first Fox, I’ll see if can string up some lighting making it easier to explore.” Krystal says knowing she is the most nimble of the team in the cavern.
“Alright, we’ll let you go in first, but maintain radio contact, I don’t want anyone getting hurt or injured in this base ok!” fox replies as Krystal quickly slips inside the now open tunnel.
As Krystal walks cautiously inside, casually leaving behind flash beacons every few steps, she quickly notices a large vault at the far side of the room, near to this vault door is a control panel which is miraculously still receiving power.
“Fox, I think I’ve found that final part we need for the satellite, however, there is a security safe vault in the room, and there is a computer however. Slippy, do you think you can hack it?” Krystal says over the radio as she snaps a photo and sends it through Slippy’s heads up display.
“I don’t know, this is old, I mean really old, I doubt Peppy’s seen stuff like this. It’s got different lettering than normal too; do you think I should just override the security?” Slippy says as he begins to walk down the lit path towards Krystal.
“We can’t afford any mistakes with this security slippy, if that door locks shut we can give up and go home because I don’t see any other way in... don’t you know anyone who can help with this?” Fox says as he too quickly makes his way inside the chamber.
“Hmmm... Alright, I’ll contact my dad, he’s old and he’s worked on the science team for years, he’s bound to know what’s going on with this system, I’ll send him the data from the computer.” Slippy announces as the team regroups inside.
Suddenly, a power surge occurs and the chambers security systems come back online with electrical buzzing and whirring.
“System online, preparing cautionary area scans.” says a monotonous voice. “Intruders detected, Drones deployed!”

“That doesn’t sound good...” Fox announces.
“Damn right Fox, where else do you think Corneria got the plans for the defence drones? Andross had them created purposefully to defend key installations.” Bill says as he quickly draws out a blaster.
“Urghhh, this cave isn’t going to be big enough for a fire fight, looks like this is going to be close combat fighting. Slippy, we’ll hold them off, you get that door open!” Fox announces as he draws out a different modelled staff. “Bill, latch onto the roof of the cave, you can use a blaster from up there, Krystal, you take the right side, I’ll take the left, if we see them heading to slippy we meet in the middle and fight together. Got it!”
“Hmhm, got it... Shhhhh...” Krystal begins as she quickly gives hand signals to Fox and Bill, indicating that the drones are about to enter the cave
As the team readies themselves, a large sweeping light passes by outside before a large beetle shaped robot hovers outside the cavern entrance. From outside it quickly deploys robot drones from under its torso, and they begin to run inside.
“Here they come Bill!” Fox says quietly over radio.
“Roger that, armed and firing” Bill replies as he quickly fires a rocket towards the inbound drones quickly destroying them.
However, it seems that the larger beetle robot doesn’t seem too pleased and begins to launch a barrage of weapon fire towards them from outside the cavern. As Bill launches another rocket directly towards it, it seems the shields deflect it.
“Fox... I got to tell you something... I’m a tough guy. But I hate bugs. And this one has outstayed his welcome!” Bill says quickly.
“I know Bill, something tells me this bug is going to get bug zapped...” replies Fox with a smile.

Apologies about the 4 part thing, because each episode is anywhere between 1200 - 2000 words long, the character cap is 4096 which means i have to split it up as best i can.

~ Chapter 3.2 – The Satellite Laser ~

“Bug zapped... Fox do you know something I don’t?” Bill says getting progressively more worried as the beetle robot proceeds to deploy more drones.

“Ohhh, I get it Fox! The area outside is filled with water, and the beetle drone is hovering above it, so if we charge the water with electricity we can overpower the shield generators, with them down, we can shoot it until it explodes!” Krystal says explaining the situation.

“Aha, right, well if you two would like to get right on that, I’m going to roast some more drones!” Bill replies as he brings out a plasma cannon.

“Right, Krystal, find the cables nearest to the new online computers, just detach them, they’ll be fine. Once you have them we’ll have to slowly advance forward, if we advance too fast we’re going to get hit by the beetle’s mini-gun.” Fox says as he tears off the computer cables with electrical searing.

“Ok,” Krystal begins as she forcefully rips the cables from the computers “We’ll take a step on 3, stopping if we have to take care of those Drones.”

“Alright, Slippy, keep us updated. Now, 1, 2, 3!” Fox replies as he and Krystal take steps in sync, slowly dragging the computer cables behind them.

“1, 2, 3” Krystal says back as they again take another step.

As they slowly make their way towards the cave entrance, Slippy quickly chimes in. “Fox, we have a Cornerian team working on the door code, we should have it any minute!”

“Alright, just a few more steps Krystal and we can make it!” Fox states.

“1, 2, 3, Now!” Krystal shouts as both herself and Fox throw the cables into the water before quickly diving backwards to avoid the sparks.

In a mass of electrical crackling and heat crashing sparks, the Beetle gets caught by an electrical field and its shields are fried. This causes it to lose all control of its targetting computer, and so deactivates its weaponry, and leaves.

“Whew, that was a close one!” Bill announces as he climbs down from the roof.

“You’re telling me, I thought we were in for more trouble when its shields were fried, but it must be so old it couldn’t cope.” Fox retorts as he and Krystal regroup with Bill before making their way back towards the computer Slippy is working on.

Slippy is babbling to himself “... and this here and enter this code and...”

“Security code unlocked welcome back Lord Andross” the automated voice exclaims.

As this is said, the door opens with mechanical whirring as the locking pins slide out of place and the vault opens revealing an incredibly large amount of Bio-weapons, along with a strange glowing container towards the far back of the room.

“Whoo-hoo!” Slippy exclaims as he jumps excitedly “Thanks again dad!”

“Careful Slippy, you don’t want to hit one of those containers, if you do it’ll be the end of us, let’s celebrate once we have this satellite up and running. The data we received indicates that it is that glowing green container towards the far right, Bill, do us a favour and radio Falco and Katt, tell Falco that he’ll be transporting this thing out of the base in his Arwing and that everyone else is on orders to escort him out of the base.” Fox remarks noticing how close Slippy is to the containers.

“Roger that Fox,” Bill begins and starts to walk back to the entrance of the cavern.

As Krystal, Fox and Slippy make their way to the container, they notice a deactivated sentry robot lying behind some of the crates with severe weapon burns, and it is largely missing portions of its torso and head. Continuing forward, they assess the danger the container poses, however during the scan slippy realises where he has seen this type of weapon before.

“Fox, Krystal, I recognise this, you remember when Pigma was overtaken by the Aparoids, and he could force powerful energy beams from within him? That is because large Aparoids have this energy source incorporated into their cells, its grade X stabilised nuclear material, it allows for complete shield override functions and will completely disrupt other weapon systems. This must be what Andross was attempting to manufacture in these munitions bases, it seems he never got much made though.” Slippy says as his analysing machine beeps and clicks.

“How could a man so crazed manufacture something so clever... it amazes me still...” Krystal says thinking aloud.

Fox nods in agreement “Alright is this safe to carry?” he begins.

“It should be, this is an incredibly stable compound when in storage, just pray this canister doesn’t rupture, ahaha” Slippy replies laughing nervously.

“Okay, Krystal, cover the exit, myself and slippy will carry this thing, and where the hell is Bill, Falco and Katt, I imagined they’d be here by now?” Fox says anxiously as he begins to lift the container along with Slippy.

As this is said, the roar of engines echoes through the caverns as Katt and Falco quickly surface next to the teams Arwings just outside the cavern.

“Wondered how long this would take you...” Falco says cockily.

“You never change do you Falco?” Fox replies with obvious sarcasm, “Now quit the small talk and put this in your Arwing.

“Right, what is it?” Falco inquires

“Oh, erm... I wouldn’t worry about it, we’ll tell you when we get it back...” Fox says stammering.

“Huh, must be heavy huh. Alright, the hatch is open, put it in and let’s get the hell out of here!” Falco replies as he quickly hops back into his Arwing.

Suddenly Bill comes sprinting into the cavern again.

“Fox! Those bugs are back and they look real steamed! We have to leave now!” Bill exclaims as he quickly swims toward his Arwing, with the rest of the team following suit.

“Alright, maximum velocity team, we need this delivery to go off without a hitch. Falco, take the lead, we’ll cover you from the rear.” Fox commands as the team quickly gun their engines before roaring into the aqueous caverns.

However, as the team quickly navigate through the caverns, it seems all is not well, as Slippy quickly proceeds to tell everyone as he looks out of the back of his Arwing to see a swarm of sentry bots and beetle drones following them out.

“F-f-fox! We’ve got company... Heeeeeelllllppp” Slippy exclaims.

“Destroy all trespassers! Tracking on Macbeth transport package XIV locked, proceed to engage and destroy stolen target!” buzzed ones of the beetle drones before proceeding to fire its laser weapons.

“Ermm... Fox... what does it mean ‘transport package XIV’?” Krystal inquires.

“I think it probably indicates the container lodged in Falco’s Arwing...” Fox replies

“What! And you didn’t think to tell me that I’m handling stolen goods?” Falco says angrily

“Well it didn’t bother you before...” Fox laughs

“Yeah but back then I was never target practice, now please guys would take care of some of these tailing drones I don’t particularly want to end up as shrapnel.” Falco remarks and he activates the boost exiting the cavern and entering the acidic venom sea.

“Alright team, you heard him, protect Falco at all costs.” Fox orders as the team split up, distracting the sentry drones splitting the force tailing them.

“Krystal and Katt, take the right side, Slippy and Bill hit the left, Falco, you’re with me, let’s smash these drones before those beetles catch up with us. Everyone strike now!” Fox quickly announces.

“Mhm”
“Okay Fox”
“Roger”
“Got it”
“No worries buddy”

As the team strike quickly they remove a large amount of the tailing drones, sending a few of them crashing into the beetle robots quickly removing them from the fight also. Suddenly the beetle robots stop and change course heading out of the sea and towards somewhere in the distance.

“Wow, what sore losers, not even willing to fight until the end.” Falco says snidely.

“Don’t push your luck bird brain” remarks Bill with a laugh, “You didn’t even realise you’re carrying highly dangerous nuclear material in that canister.”

“Stop pulling my leg, just because I’m the best pilot here, you think you can psych me out by saying I’m carrying something too dangerous.” Falco replies.

“Falco you’re a real card I’ll give you that my man, but I’m not pulling you’re leg. That really is Grade X nuclear material; if you got shot down it would completely remove a large portion of this landscape along with all of us.” Bill replies

“Foooooooooxxxxx!!” Falco shouts angrily.

“Hey you’re the best pilot I have, what was I supposed to do? Ask a moving company to pick it up? Besides, you’re safe and we’re really close to the laboratory, now let’s drop this part off. I think it’s about time we have that satellite laser made!” replies Fox as he and the team quickly fly back towards Dash’s main base.

~ Chapter 3.3 – The Laser, the war and the base network ~
As the team land their Arwing’s at Dash’s main base, they are greeted by his security team saying that Dash has been eagerly awaiting your delivery of a new part. They say that the Satellite laser will only be able to become functional when the part has been fit.

The team begin to make their way inside with Bill and Slippy lifting the nuclear container into the base followed closely by everyone else, as they make their way inside, Lucy quickly radio’s the team saying that she has managed to lock a tracking beacon on one of the beetle robots.

“Fox, what do you think about this? Do you wish to follow that robot; they must still be receiving orders from somewhere.” Lucy begins.

“Not yet, we still have to deal with that mothership in Sector Y, which is our main priority. If we have to deal with it, then we will, but otherwise, I think its just some buggy programming on their part. Just keep track on nearby air space.” Fox replies as the team enters the main complex and head to meet Dash.

“Ok, will do Fox, let me know when you have that Laser up and running and I’ll bring the Great Fox down so it can have it fitted.” says Lucy.

“Will do,” Fox replies as he opens the main doors for the team to enter the laboratory.

With the team walking inside they notice a very large laser sitting in the central room with a mass of computers hooked up to it.

“Ahh fox, I assume you found it then, the rare nuclear material this thing will use as the main fuel source?” Dash inquires as he removes a welding mask.

“We did, it wasn’t easy though, we found some old sentry drones still guarding the place, and it seemed the power suddenly returned to the presumed abandoned munitions base, unless it’s still getting power from somewhere.” Fox begins.

“Well it was part of a larger network, but this was constructed under my orders, but you can definitely assume that it’s not my doing that is suddenly received power again.” Dash remarks feeling slightly hurt at the scenario Fox was insinuating.

“No of course. But, to the job at hand, when will this laser be ready?” Fox says bluntly.

“Nothing’s changed Fox, shoot first, questions later. It’ll be ready as soon as the programming is complete, have Lucy bring down the Great Fox and we’ll have it installed immediately.” Dash laughs

“Okay,” Fox begins slowly picking up his radio, “Lucy, we’re ready for you, come on down, Dash will open up the main hangar.”

“Right, but, Fox, this is weird, I’m picking up a mass of radar data suggesting that some ships are on their way to the surface... it doesn’t make sense.” Lucy replies as she changes the course of the great Fox to head down to the surface of Venom.

“Don’t worry Lucy, even if it’s more attack fighters, we’ll be ready to deal with them, after all we have an army down here.” Fox says reassuringly

“Okay, I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Lucy says as she leans back into the pilot’s chair.

Meanwhile, while Fox and his team were busy trying to find the last satellite part, it seems that something has been busy, as Corneria has came under a small scale assault from what appears to be Venom fighters. The city is being damaged by laser fire and there are fires burning all over the lush landscape. The evening sky is being lit up with explosions from war ships.
On the surface, the Cornerian army is attempting to push back the aggressors.

“Arm all weapons, this is not a drill, aim and fire men! Destroy these Venomian scourges!” shouts a Cornerian commander

“Sir, Yes Sir!” reply all the soldiers as they proceed to return fire against the inbound ships.

As the battle rages, inside the HQ, General Peppy is walking toward the command room with his elite members of staff.

“Commanders, I want a live feed and I want status reports now, where are my guard squadrons, and where is the Starfox team?” begins General Peppy as he walks through the Cornerian HQ.

“We are unsure General, our last comms. track on the ship spotted it in orbit around Venom. We don’t have any orbiting satellites in the area and it was picked up by a Cornerian tracking ship in the area. We have since lost all communications and we are unsure as to the status of the team.” Replies a Cornerian scientist as he flicks through some documents.

“Gosh Dang it, assemble the attack fleet. We’ll drive this invasion force out of the city, but I won’t let this go unanswered. Send the Cornerian 3rd class Armada to Venom! If they want a war they’ve got one!” Peppy orders as he smashes his fist on his desk.

“Roger that Sir,” begins one of the commanders, “Attention Cornerian 3rd Class pilots, you are hereby ordered to immediately head to your ships, battle stations men! You are on orders to take this war to venom. Head there and destroy them!”

“Am I perhaps being hasty with this decision? We know very little of what is going on... No, I trust my judgement.” Peppy says thinking aloud. “Dash, whatever this skirmish is, I hope you’ve planned ahead, I don’t want this to meet drastic measures with an all out war.”

Back on Venom, the Great Fox has finally docked and the entire team along with Dash is meeting in the central command room.

“...Ahhh I see, so it uses the Grade X material as an internal power source which it can convert to atomic laser using the power drive we retrieved from Drakor, wow, I never knew you were so smart.” Slippy says analysing the Laser.

“Well I worked for a time with the best, I worked with Beltino before I decided to become a pilot, so I guess I picked up a few things” replies Dash.

“So, is it operational, can we finally shoot that Mothership in Sector Y down?” Falco says enthusiastically.

“Well disable its shielding yes” Dash replies.

“Excellent, Thank you for all your help Dash” Fox begins, however, he gets interrupted by one of Dash’s commanders.

“Dash, we’re picking up reports of Cornerian Fighters entering Venom airspace, they’re sporadically attacking our forces!” the commander begins. “Wait... that’s the Starfox team! I’ve waited long for this day to come, and yet the day it arrives you walk us right into a trap!”

“General Oikonny calm down, what are you saying.” Dash replies.

“Oikonny!?” exclaims Krystal and Fox in shock.

“I’m saying that the Starfox team is here to distract you as now their Cornerian allies are attacking us!” Oikonny continues.

“What! How dare they! We were on good terms, why have they suddenly took up in arms to attack us? And you! You’re all here as a distraction. Well if you’re on their side, I may as well keep you as hostages!” Dash shouts angrily as he orders his guards to restrain the Starfox team.

“Dash, this must be a misunderstanding, please, let us help, we have to sort this out!” Bill begins.

“Forget it Bill,” Falco replies, “this monkey boy’s stubborn, even though he’s wrong he won’t listen to reason. Fox, I think it’s high time we get out of here!”

“But how Falco, we can’t take the Great Fox its locked in the hangar? We’ve got nowhere to run to!” Fox replies anxiously thinking of an escape route.

“Fox, lets just take the Arwing’s, we can at least shoot down some of the aircraft!” Krystal begins

“As much as I like the idea Krystal, if we start shooting we’re going to look like the enemy and eventually become target practice ourselves.” Bill says interrupting her.

“Well, I have an Idea,” Lucy starts, “First we take the Arwing’s, there is a network of old abandoned tunnels in here correct? If we follow the tunnels, we may just be able to get out, I picked up a communications building on scanner, if we can make it to it, we can communicate with both the commanding Cornerian general, and Dash. That should stop this fight right?”

“It’s a long shot,” Falco states.

“Yeah, but we have to try, otherwise we’re going to let a war escalate where both sides will be destroyed.” Fox begins, “Okay, let’s do it, Run!”

As the team quickly heads toward the hangar of the Great Fox they are met with a volley of laser fire from the guards. Skilfully dodging the attacks they run inside and get in the Arwings.
With a quick check of communications the Starfox team quickly leaves blasting open a large ventilation vent and following the tunnel networks.

“What would cause Corneria to attack?” Lucy inquires as the team flies through the tunnel.

“I don’t know, we can only begin to imagine” replies Krystal.

Meanwhile, approaching the outer limits of the Lylat system on course toward Venom...

“This is Cornerian 3rd Armada on course to Venom, weapons are armed and active.” says the lead commander reporting to General Peppy.

“Good, estimated time to arrival?” Peppy replies.

“E.T.A 7 hours,” reports the commander, “We’re expecting heavy resistance.”

“Be careful, any word from the Starfox team?” Peppy asks curiously.

“We have the Great Fox on radar, but the communications line is dead.” replies the commander.

~ Chapter 3.4 – Fugitives ~

Deep in the caverns of Venom, the Starfox team is quickly following the long tunnel towards the surface. However, a loud siren suddenly echoes through-out the tunnel.

“Venom Firefly’s, proceed to be on high alert in cavern section 5-Z Alpha, there are unauthorised ships flying through that sector. Be on guard, they are piloted by the elite members of the Starfox team. Orders are to engage and destroy.” commands Dash over intercom.

“Looks like we’re in trouble, evasive manoeuvre’s everyone, we can’t engage these ships, we’re in enough trouble as it is.” Fox announces.

“No worries, I don’t think they know where we are, we’ve just entered the 3-Z Omega tunnels, but... why are they all blocked off, it looks as though they’re falling apart.” Slippy begins

“Ermm Fox, you know I said I was tracking those beetle robot’s? The signal has just came back, far stronger than before too!” say Lucy.

“I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that they have something to do with this whole thing. Okay, let’s find out what they have to do with this.” Fox replies.

As the order is given the team slows down and changes their course to follow the beacon through the tunnels, as they progress forward they realise that the tunnel suddenly starts to rise sharply, likely heading towards the surface.

“Team, we’re gonna be in for a bit of turbulence, even the Arwings will struggle to make a turn this sharp.” Fox begins.

“Gah, Fox, we’ve got company to the rear, it seems some drones have taken a liking to myself, Katt and Lucy. We’re really struggling back here.” Bill says weaving behind Slippy.

“Bill, there’s nothing we can do... wait... I sense something... there is an old ventilation tunnel straight ahead, if you can blast the safety panel off, you should be able to use this tunnel as a faster route to the surface and avoid these drones, we’ll meet up later.” Krystal says as herself and Fox quickly put the Arwings into an upward position before activating the boost to take the tunnel heading upwards.

“Alright, Katt, Lucy, follow my lead!” Bill says quickly blasting off the safety panel.

“Right behind you slowpoke” replies Katt playfully.

“Be careful you two...” Lucy replies worriedly.

As Slippy and Falco perform the same manoeuvre Krystal and Fox performed moments earlier. Bill, Katt and Lucy quickly fade out of sight.

“When you three get to the surface, land somewhere and radio us and tell us what you see. Lucy you have command.” Fox orders.

“Roger that Fox, judging by the radar we’re about a hundred feet below the surface. But does anyone know how long we’ve been flying since the invasion began?” Lucy replies.

“Erm... I think we’ve been in the air for four hours, according to radio transcripts I’m infiltrating it seems the battle is still ongoing with neither side backing down.” Slippy replies.

“Well, we’ll set up a camp somewhere too; it seems we’ll be fugitives for a while.” Bill adds.

“Okay, we’re seeing light entering the tunnel, we’ll radio you when we have done a scan of the area. Lucy out.” Lucy states as her team radio goes silent.

“Alright, Falco, Slippy, Krystal, looks like we’re on our own here. Be on guard, we have no idea what this will lead us to.” Fox hastens to say.

“Actually Fox, I think I do, you know Dash was saying that those Beetles must have been receiving power from somewhere? This blocked off section isn’t on the charted maps, it seems it has just recently been unblocked and used...” Slippy begins.

“Slippy what are you saying?” Fox inquires.

“Well I think someone is using this place as a base of operations, or at very least was.” Slippy replies.

“Fox, the tunnels opening up... it looks like a factory of sorts... there is a large capsule spire in the centre of the room and we’re going to be coming up right up under it.” Krystal starts, “Fox, what are we going to do here, I don’t think there is a way out...”

“Don’t worry about it Krystal, I’ve seen these shutter doors before when we were here. These things come straight off with enough laser fire... But what’s that? Is that a control room on the right?” Falco states quickly.

“I think it is... okay team, lets land here, we’ll have a look around and see if we can establish radio contact with Lucy, Bill and Katt.” Fox replies as he slows the Arwing down and quickly flies around the room before landing the Arwing on a large platform, with Falco, Krystal and Slippy following his lead.

As the small team leave their Arwings, Krystal takes out her radio.
“Katt, Katt do you hear us?” she says quietly.

“We read you loud and clear Krystal, we’ve landed outside a massive complex, but it’s really overgrown, you can hardly make it out, the main entrance is weakened too, the door looks like it’s about to fall off.” Katt begins.

“That’s great!” Krystal shouts enthusiastically, “Katt, we think that this building you speak of is where we are now. We’re in a large hexagonal room, the tunnel brought us out into the centre of it, we have no idea what this place is used for, just be ready in case we need your help.”

“Alright, I’ll tell Bill and Lucy what you have just told me. Good luck girl!” Katt replies

“Thanks Katt,” says Krystal as she puts her radio back.

“Alright, Falco and Krystal, your job is to destroy these shutters and find the main exit out of here, Slippy and I will head up to that control room and see if we can contact the Venomian and Cornerian commanders and end this thing.” Fox orders.

“Finally, a chance to break out the rocket launcher!” Falco smirks as he quickly withdraws the rocket launcher propping it over one shoulder.

“Careful Falco, you don’t want to burn your tail feathers with that thing” Krystal laughs.

“No sweat, I’m a great shot!” Falco says bragging as he quickly fires off a round destroying a nearby shutter.

As Falco and Krystal quickly get busy destroying the shutters, Slippy and Fox have made it to the control room.

Inside, a sole computer and communications panel is receiving power, it states that the beetle drones are now active but target has been lost.

“That reminds me... Whatever happened to that signal?” Fox thinks aloud.

“Uh... Fox... look... in the capsule... is that...” Slippy begins stuttering.

“...a drone queen Hatcher?” Fox replies quickly as he scans over the computers. “Look, don’t worry, it’s in stasis, it must have been like that for a while now... Just hook me up to the intercom links.” Fox says commanding slippy over to the computer.

As slippy fiddles with some wires, deep in the bottom of the tunnel Fox and his team followed, a mass of Beetle drones are slowly encroaching on their positions.

Slippy quickly finished attaching some new wires to the computer so the intercom link works. “Patching you through now fox, you’re good to go!”

“Ahem,” Fox begins clearing his throat. “Venomian and Cornerian commanders, this is Fox McCloud of the Starfox team, we wish to halt the fighting and agree to new terms. There is a misunderstanding and I’m sure we all seek to find answers. If we stop the fighting we can find them.” Fox says calmly.

The radio babbles incoherently with arguments between the Venomian commanders being slightly over heard. However, Dash’s voice is then heard and the commanders stop.

Dash sighs loudly, “Alright Fox, I don’t know how you did it, but you managed to escape and communicate with us, and stop us fighting, now if that doesn’t suggest you really are on our side, then I don’t know what does. We’ll agree with this truce.”

“Excellent, what say you admirals of Corneria?” Fox inquires.

The radio remains completely silent for a few minutes before Dash comes back online.

“Yes, you see now this is the weird thing, although the reports indicate they are Cornerian ships, we are unable to establish any radio contact between them regardless of frequency we use.” Dash explains, “not only that, but eye witness reports show the ships look... well slightly damaged, in fact one ship I witnessed was covered in searing magma, and yet was still able to fly. Something strange is going on Fox, is this some new Cornerian weaponry?”

“Dash this doesn’t seem right at all, order your men to be on a defensive and don’t do anything too hastily, if we can get a message to Cornerian high command we can see just what is going on...” Fox starts to explain.

Suddenly a large explosion shoots through the control room and Fox and Slippy dash for cover narrowly avoiding the blast. As Fox and Slippy get up, Krystal and Falco run back in.

“Fooooooxxx! We’ve found the exit, but it’s a really long tunnel, we can’t walk that way it’ll take too long, not only that but these drones will catch up to us too, we have to take the Arwings!” Krystal shouts loudly.

As Krystal shouts, the capsule in the centre of the room suddenly shatters and the Queen Hatcher awakes and fires a large energy burst towards the four grounded Arwing’s destroying them.

“No! Now what are going to do? We can’t run so we have to fight. Everyone take up defensive positions, target the Queen!” Fox commands.

Meanwhile, just outside Venom’s outer atmosphere, the Cornerian 3rd Armada is closing in.

“Okay men, be ready for anything and everything” orders the fleet commander.

“E.T.A one hour, thrity minutes Sir, our reports indicate that somehow some Cornerian ships have come under heavy fire. This doesn’t seem possible but it’s the report we are getting.” reports a Cornerian scientist.

“Someone started the invasion early? Impossible, just wait until I find who is responsible for this!” shouts the commander angrily.

Back on the surface, Fox and his team are struggling to keep up the fight with the Queen.

“Falco, use that rocket launcher of yours and destroy the capsule holding mechanism, if you can destroy the holding mechanism the queen will plummet into the abandoned tunnel.” Fox orders.

“I have it in my sights Fox. Eat this you blasted bug!” Falco shouts as he fires the rocket destroying the mechanism.

“Come on plummet!” Fox shouts as he notices the mechanism falling.

“Fox, look, the drones... they’re keeping the Queen in place... its useless, she can spawn infinite amounts of them, we’ll never destroy them all.” Krystal says scared.

But, then a large piece of sheet metal falls from the roof it strikes the queen causing her to become angered, she shrieks loudly before collapsing, seemingly dead... however slippy notices something incredibly worrisome.

“Fox... how many bugs have countdown timers in their abdomens made out of Grade IV Nuclear waste? Because at the moment I count one... FOX!” Slippy shouts panicking.

“Oh my... it isn’t...” Fox begins, before quickly picking up his radio. “Katt, Bill, Lucy, get in your Arwings and get here now! Get here quick or all four of us are going to be blown back to Corneria!” Fox shouts.

“What... dang, don’t worry Fox I’m on it, come on you two we best get there fast!” Bill remarks as he quickly guns the engine and flies toward the complex blasting the weakened shutter off.

“We’re coming too Fox!” Lucy adds.

“As am I guys, we’ll get you of here!” Katt says quickly as the team of 3 quickly fly through the complex.

“Alright, Falco, Slippy, Krystal, lets make a run for it...” Fox says quickly as he sprints toward the corridor leading out of the complex.

“What, we’ll never make it out in time?” Krystal says sounding scared as herself and the other two quickly follow Fox.

“Don’t worry, hopefully I’ve got a plan, back up should be arriving any minute.” Fox adds continuing to run down the corridor.

As they run they quickly hear the sound of engines as Bill, Katt and Lucy roar overhead in their Arwings.

“I. Hate. Bugs!” Bill remarks as he quickly fires a round of nova bombs into the hexagonal room before flying around to re-enter the corridor Fox and his team are running out of. Katt and Lucy also follow suit.

“Alright Fox, I’m coming on by first, put those gloves on and get ready to hang on to my wings.” Bill says as he quickly makes his way down the corridor.

“Okay Bill, Krystal, get ready to jump.” Fox begins.

As Bill appears in the distance, Fox and Krystal jump latching on to his wings as he flies past.

“Falco’s mine,” Katt replies as she too flies toward them.

Falco quickly jumps and both Katt and Bill proceed to fly as fast as they can towards the exit.

“Hey, what about me?!” Slippy say fretting.

“Don’t worry Slippy, I’ve got your back,” Lucy says calmly as she flies as low as she can, allowing Slippy to jump and land on her Arwing.

Suddenly an explosion rocks the corridor and a mass of flame starts making its way toward the Arwing’s.

“Careful you lot, things are gonna get real warm real soon if we don’t speed things up, let’s get out of here!” Bill orders as he quickly boosts through the corridor and out of the complex with Katt and Lucy following closely behind them.

As they exit the building complex the whole place is engulfed in a massive fire ball explosion. As the dust settles the three Arwing’s slow down before flying close to the ground, dropping off their respective wing riders.

“Lucy, us four will stay at this camp you made, return to Dash’s headquarters, we are on good terms now, get in the Great Fox and bring it back here, we’re going to need picking up. That and the Great Fox has a stockpile of Arwing’s.” Fox commands.

“Okay, me, Bill and Katt will head back to Dash’s base and return with the Great Fox we’ll be back as soon as we can.” Lucy replies as they fly into the distance.

Later, as Bill, Lucy and Katt see the HQ on the horizon; they quickly dodge their way through the dog fight and enter the hangar where the Great Fox was being held. The team quickly land their Arwing’s in the Great Fox, and Lucy makes her way to the control room, before flying the Great Fox out of the hangar and back towards the temporary camp.

Lucy quickly radio’s Fox. “We’re on our way back now, hang on.”

“Alright, we’ll come on board when you get here. Over and out.” Replies Fox.

Back in orbit, the Cornerian 3rd Armada has just entered Venom’s atmosphere.
“Do we have any more incoming reports about the fighting?” inquires the fleet commander.

“Sir, it seems that the Venomian army is merely holding defensive positions now,” remarks a scientist monitoring the radar screens.

“Excellent, a prime time to attack and destroy those troops!” states the commander, “How long until we reach their main base?”

“All logs suggest 40 minutes until we arrive” replies the scientist.

“Interesting, I still can’t shake the feeling that we’re walking into a trap here... Never mind, onwards. Venom won’t know what hit them!” replies the commander.

Also I must add, during this chapter, seeing as I’m still basing it on cut scene’s / missions combo, the scenario with fox and his team running out of the base would obviously have the trademark Starfox team music. Ahahaha.
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.

(LOL i just ran over by this smallest section, ahh well)

wow, copy and pasting this i realise i missed a mass of spelling and grammatical errors in that, its not anything major it is the very occasional missing word.
My apologies everyone, i'll proof read the next few sections before uploading.
I am currently at work on Chapter 4.2, but i'm spreading out the Chapter 3 sections (although obviously it doens't look it) its just a bit heavy if i post 15,000 words all in one go.
Again thanks for continued support despite my absence.
