- May 29, 2012 9:11 am GMT>manly solo
You bet.
>RG timing
Story of my time with DMC3...
>TS a bit rough
Yeah, I suppose.
>GS and SM were easy
I'm sure.
>QS and DG took adjustment
More so the latter, I'm sure. QS has DEM I-FRAMES.
>damage testing
Lovely stuff. Shall you be aiming for non-style based, efficient kill approaches in the future? - May 29, 2012 6:12 pm GMTGot DD, but it'll be a long while before I get around to playing it. Thankfully, I've recently had a large amount of my time freed up around early July.
Doesn't last as long as it would need to in order to compete with the others from what I can tell.
Depends how much damage it does then.
>Maelstrom and Exequy ruin fools
Delightful.
I'd rather have the Earth open up and eat people though.
Indeed, it would have been better.
Good luck getting pawns to join in though.
They're not even helpful when they could be helpful.
random mobs are all horrifying arrays of unique abilities jumbled together to make massively imbalanced nightmare creatures while taking too long nearly instant kills you as a penalty in fights (discouraging chip damage).
Did they try the game out on Inferno at all? From what I know about D2, Hell threw all sorts of massively stat boosted monsters at you, but there were so many overpowered builds (Hammerdins come to mind) that it didn't matter.
>unarmed combat not only viable, but damn powerful
Feels good man.
Any intention of pushing this to the limit with NFR+ NUR+?
I don't intend too. Focusing on DMC, and would rather not go back to the comparatively limited NFR+ NUR+ at the moment. That and I get enough of the Jumptroopers in my dreams *and not the good kind*
Any luck finding hidden items?
Found something in a crate, but not sure what it was.
How about some tactics?
Chimera is pretty much touch and go at this point. Jump on and grab, climb up snake, stab away. Then climb on and position myself so slashes hit both the Lion and Goat head. Still rather unsure how to handle the Lion. The grab method worked well, but I haven't attempted the demo again. Goblins are just knocking around with R1+s, and catching as many as I can at a time in s, pause, s,s,s. Basic luring and knocking down for harpies.
I'm sure once I played the game proper, I'll be able to make light of the Chimera alone (especially with the more offensively powerful classes). Heard that the Warriors Arc of Deliverance takes lifebars off a Cyclops once charged, and it likely only gets more ridiculous from there.
This said, Goat had early on been a case for R1+t to chop up at him now and again.
I've done as such myself.
>parrying takes significantly less stamina
Duly noted.
Just not as effective as simply abusing a cheap place to fight or parry (slaps), parry (slaps), air t1/R1+s downing tactics.
I believe it.
Experiment much with grabs outside Chimera?
Can't say I did.
Not as fun to test in my opinion
If only there was a friendly cliff nearby...
More so the latter, I'm sure. QS has DEM I-FRAMES.
These two seem more suited to boss fights, where they can make the most of vulnerable periods. n472a has the fastest Nevan and Arkham fights on DMD I know of, using QS and DG respectively. - May 29, 2012 6:14 pm GMTShall you be aiming for non-style based, efficient kill approaches in the future?
You know it. I've already begun playing efficiently in DMC1. Vortex for puppets and Blades, Stinger>grenade spamming with Alastor, DTed charged PPKK and Inferno for bosses, etc. Finished up Hard on DMC1. A DTed PPKK combo took off over half (at least) of Griffin 1's health. Three DTed charged hits killed Phantom during one of the 'run away' corridor sequences. Wish I'd try it out during the regular fights.
Tried killing Nelo with charged attacks; they didn't all connect and I took a lot of damage, but still killed him in less than thirty seconds. Nelo 3 took a few tries (I'm not yet good about getting Infernoes off against him or cancelling Ifrit's PPK). There's no need to visit the Underworld against Nightmare at all on Hard or Normal. Pushed Mundus over.
Still adapting to DMD in DMC3. Lots of high health, stun resistant foes who attack offscreen, and love interrupting ground attacks. Starting to get into the swing of things. Completed Mission 2 with every Style (but RG) and Vergil, and did Mission 3 with Trickster. Lots and lots of jump cancelling Killer Bee and Aerial Cross. Found that alternating between Reverb Shock and KA dealt high damage while building absurd Style (stupidly easy SSS) and toss DTed enemies around like fools.
It's a rather different emphasis compared to Ninja Gaiden (spamming aerial attacks, charged hits *DMC1*, and a few powerful single use attacks *Real Impact, DTE, etc* compared to using extremely damaging, long ground combo strings and UTs). - May 29, 2012 9:43 pm GMT>better
It would have been broken. So, yes. Much better.
>try it out
Not really. They were deeply butthurt about a number of vet comments. First they make a pony stage with rainbows and teddy bears to attack the 'too colorful' lot (rather than a chicken world to continue the abused animal tradition).
Then they create a new highest setting with a huge leap in enemy HP/damage, randomly arranging abilities without a care and making basically every non-boss mob a mess of uniques. This is their idea of challenge. Beat you down with bad game design.
They weren't confident this would be offensive enough so they added this time delay penalty rule just in case. Also, servers going down for their jew gold "Auction House" which attracts even more hacker antics than in D2 (when it wasn't worth real people money through direct channels).
>don't intend to
A wise choice.
>not the good kind
No reach arounds?
>in a crate
A chest? There were two in the Prologue level. Lots of crap hidden in boxes, one thing you had to talk to some loser about, a mess of things you had to climb around for, some you could just get off the ground, etc. Nothing that required a Harpy to my great disappointment (as I did go to the trouble of using them to take me well outside the intended bounds of the game). I was wanting some mad loot, brah. GIB ME DAH GOLD. I WANT DA GOLD.
>Snake and Goat grab handling mastered
Doesn't take terribly long, does it?
Without grab, things spice up a bit.
>still unsure with Lion
I did say it took some time. You'll get a feel for all his cues, what to bait, when to attack, when you can down him, etc. I get the feeling Mystic Knight and Warrior would best suit my tastes. DEM PARRIES. DAT GUTS. We shall see. All I know is that it is a nice feeling to solo Chimera alone without items or even grabs. I've gone on about all that already though. Even bothered to try out killing in new orders (rather than Snake/Goat/Lion). Odd that the Lion can die and the body crappily tries to keep things going.
>goblins
That certainly knocks them around. The lighter chaps are open to slaps, being downed and blocked/parried to set up grab and full nelson. Hobgoblins are a bit heavier and take a little more to set-up (heavier hits, but otherwise the same). They hate fire. Everything hates fire. Also, cliffs. Explosives are cute, but not of too much use without some advantageous extra conditions (like being atop a bridge to toss them down from upon the heads of the less-than-vigilant').
>harpies
Luring them into the hall you start from takes away a good deal of their high flying options and you can reach a vertical limit they cannot match (up by the infinite stamina potion). Of course, you can't use an Archer in that level as you are forced to use that particular Arisen and he's a Fighter.
Funny to toss them off cliffs aside from sitting on their backs, kicking them, letting pawns wail on them, pressing them into fire, etc.
>fancy names
They tend to have spectacular results in this game.
>Countryside cliff
Thought I had one by the river, but it didn't work out. Couldn't drown them by holding their heads under water either. Pity. Just some rock to toss them off to take half their life per use. Slow going. Start with the mage.
>n472a making s*** look good
Imagine that.
>know it
This pleases me.
Besides 'efficient' play, what of 'style' and 'cheap' approaches?
>different mindset than NG
Not much like GoW either, yes? DEM GRABS, COLLISIONS, RING-OUTS, etc. - May 30, 2012 10:26 am GMTThen they create a new highest setting with a huge leap in enemy HP/damage, randomly arranging abilities without a care and making basically every non-boss mob a mess of uniques.
Sounds like they took WoW's boss design and slapped on a randomizer.
They weren't confident this would be offensive enough so they added this time delay penalty rule just in case.
Do the enemies just auto kill you after a certain time, or become so powerful that winning is near impossible?
Also, servers going down for their jew gold "Auction House"
Way to put a greater emphasis on grinding in a game already about grinding. This has ACTIVISION stamped all over it. I eagerly await the twelve expansion packs, as well as the Justin Bieber edition.
No reach arounds?
Didn't even take me to dinner.
GIB ME DAH GOLD. I WANT DA GOLD.
Whoa, sounds like those Brazilians have been getting to you.
A chest?
I believe it was a box, now that you mention it.
Doesn't take terribly long, does it?
Not at all.
You'll get a feel for all his cues, what to bait, when to attack, when you can down him, etc.
Certainly.
DEM PARRIES. DAT GUTS.
Don't forget DAT CANNON. They seem to just stomp the game. Assassins apparently aren't much better. Magick Archers seem to excel at shutting down fights, but don't know how good their damage is. Sorcerers are just a grand old time.
Odd that the Lion can die and the body crappily tries to keep things going.
I assume it's rather easy from that point on then?
The lighter chaps are open to slaps, being downed and blocked/parried to set up grab and full nelson.
I'll have to try that.
Slow going. Start with the mage.
Noted.
Besides 'efficient' play, what of 'style' and 'cheap' approaches?
All on the table. Spiral cancelling, Jam Session, gun abuse, taunts, all open for exploitation. I'm not aware of too much potential for being cheap in DMC1 aside from grenade rolling and shotgun twitching, but they're so effective and enemies die so quickly it hardly matters. I do enjoy launching puppets into the air then shooting them to death with E&I.
Not much like GoW either, yes?
Nope. Though Dante killing his brother is sure to please Kratos.
DEM GRABS, COLLISIONS, RING-OUTS, etc.
If only. I'd love to send Beowulf's ass packing down a cliff. - Jun 1, 2012 10:42 am GMT>WoW design
They did this across the board. They want another money printing machine.
>time delay
It starts dealing something like 5K damage per second from what I'm told. I believe the norm is something like 25K HP. I'm not too sure on that. The highest I've heard of for a player is 50K so far.
I believe it also resets all foes (in terms of HP *maybe position too*).
>Brazilians
They want that digital money.
>Assassins
Night buffs aplenty. They seem quite capable with the invisibility and buffs at work.
>Mystic Knight
Got something for slapping the s*** out of everything.
>Magic Archer
Aim Assist mode with homing shots. Ultra casual just how DSP likes it.
>Sorcerers
Great offensive ability, but the casting is something DSP cannot work with at all much like the parries for Mystic Knight. He would be terrible with Warrior (slow, no block, no evade, etc.).
>rather easy
He's pretty much a turret at that point. Not terribly mobile.
>try that
Definitely try the full nelson with classes that can do it. Not too bad for helping enemies kill your allies either.
>family slaying
Dante isn't quite as eager or able as Kratos with this, but he does have it on record.
>ring-out Beowulf
Or have the collisions for returning his objects deal amazing damage on higher settings. - Jun 2, 2012 3:11 pm GMTSo many bad runners. Found one I like the cut of though. He does tend to bite off more than he can chew, but hasn't let it get him killed just yet. He's doing a minimal HUD, Fighter ONLY solo run of Dragon's Dogma. A classy call.

I'm currently about to view part 9. Well, after my rounds are made. - Jun 4, 2012 4:25 am GMTIt starts dealing something like 5K damage per second from what I'm told. I believe the norm is something like 25K HP. I'm not too sure on that. The highest I've heard of for a player is 50K so far.
What a brilliant and innovative idea.
Or have the collisions for returning his objects deal amazing damage on higher settings.
n472a showed that Sword Pierce does really good damage if you manage to hit him in the eye.
>fighter solo
Ah, thanks for sharing. My plan is Fighter>Warrior>Assassin>Ranger for a first runthrough, and then mowing down the second with Something>Sorcerer>Mystic Knight Magic Archer.
Seen the new MGS Rising: Reveangence trailer? It looks rather good. Has stealth kills that remind me of Arkham Asylum/PoP: The Two Thrones. Looks to be a staff (Lunar) like weapon. I wouldn't be surprised if we got Flails as well (would fit well with the bladed weapons theme). Still no news of a western release date for AR. Talk of a KH HD Collection, possibly containing the Final Mix versions of the game.
Didn't get much playtime this weekend due to family obligations. Greatly underestimated Royal Guard; I'm not yet good enough to wade into a crowd and stop multiple attacks, but do well to stop individual enemies from doing s***. A Just Release turns out to deal 50% more damage than a regular Release, that said a regular Release is still very strong. I cleared Missions 1 & 2 with RG and Mission 3 with every Style and Vergil. Trickster went ok. Swordmaster Cerberus gave me trouble until I got the positioning for Tempest/Ultimate Tempest down, then fell rather easily. Gunslinger did better than I thought it would. Alternating between Spiral's regular shot and Reflector dealt very good damage from the safety of a sweet spot.
RG and QS made a mockery of him. Doppelganger was rather eh. The Style just doesn't seem to do much of anything, as against normal enemies the duplicate will start doing its own thing. Vergil against Cerberus gave me a lot of trouble. I couldn't loop him and Spiral Swords don't do s*** against his ice shield.
Having accomplished that, I set out to destroy DMD on DMC1. Nelo 3 and Griffin 3 gave me some problems (trying out new strategies against them) but on the whole it was a cakewalk. Well, until Mundus. Gave Mundus 2 thirty-five attempts and still couldn't get him. Each laser hit takes off a third of my health and he has a stupid amount of health. Almost makes me miss Paratus. I'll get him though. - Jun 4, 2012 11:38 pm GMTGoW:A SP footage came from E3. I gave my thoughts elsewhere.
>brilliant idea
Especially the reset. Very tasteful. And play2win is amazing. Buy your gear from the devs. When real money gets involved, surely they'll have better hacking protection. *hohoho*
>DD plan
Not sure what I'll do. I'm not much for all this pawn business or multi-vocation talk. Less so the former obviously. I'd be happy to stick to one class once I have access to it. Maybe not buy anything with the classes before it to keep it 'clean'. Maybe later using multiple vocations to really get one sitting pretty. Hard to say. I do like the idea of a solo run with each though.
The guy doing the Fighter run is handling things quite well though he is partial to putting on a flashy show for his audience when he knows full well how much more effective cutting to the chase (ring-outs oftentimes) would be.
>trailer
I did see it, but I'd like for them to have a live demo with gameplay now.
>underestimated RG
I didn't. I just can't tap into its potential. HandVsEye is where I learned much about DMC.
>DG
The only thing I liked about it was using it with the infinite DT costume on Bloody Palace so I could play Dante or the shadow (usually the latter until my partner starts getting killed against the final floors) in a sort of co-op dabbling. That's as far as I'd ever want the feature taken.
>almost miss Paratus
Tall talk, friend. - Jun 5, 2012 10:17 am GMTGoW:A SP footage came from E3.
Doesn't look too bad, all things considered. Seems they recycled the multiplayer weapons as weapons picked up from enemies. Think we'll see some proper (permanent) subweapons?
I do like the idea of a solo run with each though.
And how. The only reason not to do this is how much time it'd require, but I'm not sure how long the game is.
he is partial to putting on a flashy show for his audience
It can be commendable. taz does this every once in a while.
I did see it, but I'd like for them to have a live demo with gameplay now.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2012-metal-gear/731044
Looks pretty good. Enemies block attacks quite frequently. An interview mentioned having many main weapons, and that replayability would come from customizing and upgrading them. I like the sound of that. You can also kill enemies stealthily if you so choose.
And the best part? No mention of multiplayer whatsoever.
Tall talk, friend.
Got the bastard yesterday.

>demonstrates potentially game breaking glitch
>doesn't bother fighting anything
Bah. - Jun 6, 2012 11:33 pm GMT>SP footage
I've seen quite a lot of it and the MP at this point.
>how long
Without all the dicking about with unnecessary quests and such, hard to say.
>link
I was just about to drop by GT. I hadn't yet checked them for GoW:A footage (IGN, GS and some others had plenty).
>bah
That's how I felt about his not having used it for such a thing or maybe applying it to the TWoD glitch just for the Hell of it. - Jun 7, 2012 1:31 pm GMTNinja Gaiden III: Razor's Edge. On the Wii U: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0YRUYWoDKo

I CANNOT POSSIBLY HOLD ALL THIS MAD.
>Nintendo gets the violent version of a tamed game
What is this, I do not understand.
Sounds like SIGMA will be about making a completed game that isn't s*** for the PS3 and 360. I'm so glad I didn't get dicked by their BETA bulls*** scheme.
The DD runner is moving right along and doing nicely. Putting on a pretty good show. You kept up? How goes your own run work?
NOTE: Hotel is currently having a go with Bayonetta. His thread is at the PS3 boards. - Jun 9, 2012 1:02 pm GMTI CANNOT POSSIBLY HOLD ALL THIS MAD.
Wait *watches trailer again*, WHY THE HELL WEREN'T DELIMBS IN NG3 TO BEGIN WITH? Do they realize they're just adding, no, recycling crap that NGII did much better in a larger quantity?
Sounds like SIGMA will be about making a completed game that isn't s*** for the PS3 and 360. I'm so glad I didn't get dicked by their BETA bulls*** scheme.
It's like publishers are holding a "Who Can Piss Off the Action Crowd" competition. And Tecmo just bought it into overtime.
You kept up? How goes your own run work?
Not a whole lot by either account. I finished Mission 4 completely and Mission 5 with Trickster and Swordmaster before having my week shot to Hell by illness and schoolwork. Lots of Enigma's in M4 (forcing Nevan usage) and a Soul Eater + Abyss fight (Cerberus makes short work of the latter). Gigapede was pretty laughable though.
Agni and Rudra slap me silly (note that I'm abstaining from item usage, having so far only used two Devil Stars against Cerberus as Vergil). Trickster does almost NOTHING in that fight. Swordmaster went a bit better; a full DTE followed by Million Carat spam (Cerberus's Swordmaster Crazy Combo) can knock off three fourths a health par (on par with what Vergil can accomplish). Don't know what attack I'll use with Gunlsinger, but RG should make a mockery of them. QS should be interesting.
So far, Swordmaster and RG are establishing themselves as the most powerful Styles. The latter needs no defending; aside from Release it's DT generation is no joke, and guard cancelling can be rather handy (even outside Spiral). I found that Beowulf's Hammer (Swordmaster aerial attack) dealt more damage per use than Vergil's Lv. 2 Starfall (Beowulf's normal aerial). That's well worth noting. Real Impact (without the Tornado Crazy Combo) deals as much as a three orb Release when all the hits connect. Can't pull off Ultimate Tempest consistantly, but I'll keep trying.
QS does a number on bosses, but isn't terribly good for regular enemies. DTE just does much better damage in crowds. Gunslinger is excellent, held back only because I haven't found a good method of dealing sustained damage against smaller foes. Keep screwing up Point Blank with the Shotgun and instead have Dante shooting everything around him like a mook. Don't really like Trickster. Sky Star isn't really much safer or easier to pull off than an air Just Guard, and the latter gives DT and Rage. Most of my time with the Style is jump cancelling Beowulf's and A&R's air attacks, and I can do that anyway.
Hotel is currently having a go with Bayonetta. His thread is at the PS3 boards.
Got it. I'll have a look.
If you're interested, bigaski (one of the best NGB players) has begun coverage of Ultimate Ninja, doing whatever is necessary to win. He's not terribly skilled (as he admits in his commentary) but his methods are effective and sometimes faster than taz's. >troll the Action fans contest between publishers
Capcom underestimated Team Ninja. What an upstart these guys have become. EA needs to get in on this. Only they could make this a three-way dance (always online SP for an Action game *with lag*). Make it happen. Buy a beloved franchise if need be.
>illness
You too? Findlestick just told me the same. Said he was delirious for a week.
>RG antics
There is good reason it is taken so seriously among vets.
>faster methods
>not so skilled
Sounds like my sort of chap. I'll open up a tab for it. For the moment I'll be checking in on the DD specialty run. Then perhaps move on to said coverage. It might still be difficult to watch at length with all that respawning though. - Jun 11, 2012 3:38 am GMTCleared Swordmaster in Mission 7. Decided to skip proper coverage of Mission 6, given the one real fight is completely unnecessary.
EA needs to get in on this.
Activision too. Make a good first game, a better second, then run the series into the ground with an endless supply of reskinned yearly sequels and worthless DLC, with lots of premium packages to confuse the Hell out of everyone.
Only they could make this a three-way dance (always online SP for an Action game *with lag*).
A dream come true.
Buy a beloved franchise if need be.
God Hand 2. Make the Arena DLC only, and let players fight as Olivia (for a price).
You too?
Some sort of stomach flu. Couldn't sit up or eat. On the plus side, no one can say I'm full of s*** for a while.
It might still be difficult to watch at length with all that respawning though.
Understandable. This is the first time I've watched NG3 for an extended period. It is rather repetitive in terms of doing the same thing over and over again. I don't think I've seen one enemy die to straight HP damage; it's either SoB/OT, UT or Ninpo. Damn shame. - Jun 11, 2012 10:04 pm GMT>a dream come true
Careful. You could be talking to a very rich man with ideas like this.
>for a price
"There is a price to pay...for EVERYTHING you gain..." - Ares
And the guilty always pay it, I'm told. Don't feel too bad for them.
>full of s***
Loud and clear. Just as no one could take the piss out of me for a bit. Not even me.
>damn shame
That it is. Even dismemberment might not be enough to curb the boredom for too long. Hayasha has left his (blighted) mark. May it be remembered well... - Jun 16, 2012 11:45 am GMTOmega and Hysper are wrapping up their runs and are just now looking good (thanks to OP abilities). Rubikant still stands alone. His first Drake encounter (unspoiiled he says). I wonder how that will go.
- Jun 17, 2012 5:00 am GMTOP abilities? Sounds like a party. I'll look into them.
Rubikant still a Fighter?
Just cleared Mission 11 with Trickster. Royal Guard and Swordmaster continue to reign over the others, with Gunslinger following. Getting good with buffer charge shots and Artemis. Can't quite jump cancel, but can fight normally on the ground and dodge attacks. Long distance attacks with almost no commitment. Rather good.
