Capcom sure loves cross-overs when it comes to Street Fighter games over the past decade with titles like Marvel VS Capcom and Capcom VS SNK. Street Fighter X Tekken is the latest instalment in the Capcom franchise, there was Namco X Capcom which was a Fighting-styled RPG game but that was released on the PS2 and was only released in Japan back in 2005.
Street Fighter X Tekken is where your favourite characters from the Street Fighter series and Tekken series come together to fight for one thing in main story for this game which is Pandora's Box; which is the main story if your wanting to play Arcade mode.
Gameplay: If you've played Street Fighter IV before then you should have no problem when it comes to character commands and moves; if you a Tekken fan you've still got the same commands and moves if you've played Tekken 6. Like Tekken Tag Tournament you'll be able to choose to characters for your team, during each battle your pretty much beating your opponent by draining their health or time is up. You don't need to beat both players just need to defeat one them, but if your character gets beaten means you lose the round.
You can switch characters at any by holding down punch and kick button or when pulling of combo moves you can switch characters straight away. On the bottom left and right of your screen you'll see a cross gauge which can charge up by pulling of combo attacks, once it's filled you can do some serious damage and attacks on your opponent. Apart from Arcade, versus and Online, there's also Training and Challenge mode which should keep fighting fans busy for quite a while. You can customise your favourite characters by changing colour of clothing and adding gems and ability's to the character you want to use.
Graphics and Sound: There is going to be two versions of this game Street Fighter X Tekken comes from Capcom, its graphics and animation has borrowed a lot of elements tools that were used in Street Fighter IV. You might notice all of this when playing the game, but however Namco will release Tekken X Street Fighter which will use a different graphic engine and animation for their version of the game. With it being a side-scroll fighting game there isn't really big issue on its camera, but seeing of your favourite charters pulling off moves and attacks are pretty impressive to watch. Some of the arena's you'll see look stunning and of course you'll notice 1 or 2 Capcom and Namco references from various arenas.
You do have the option to change the voice acting from English to Japanese pending if you like playing fighting games in Japanese or not. The soundtrack does a great touch for Street Fighter X Tekken with various themes from both Street Fighter and Tekken series, you've also got various bands and artists supporting the game like Rise Against, Hideyuki Fukasawa and Street Drum Corps.
Overall: If you pick up the Playstation 3 or Vita version you'll get to play a few extra characters like Cole (inFamous 2) Toro and Kuro and on PSN you can download Mega Man and Pac Man. I would admit it was an awesome idea seeing Street Fighter and Tekken characters fight against each other which most of its hard-core fans had been dreaming of for years. It would have been nice if they added more characters to the list but they will be added as DLC content when it comes on the Playstation Network.
Its strongest point about Street Fighter X Tekken will be its online multiplayer where you have no idea how good you are when playing this game online. If you do plan on playing online you're going to need all the training you need if you do. It's online can be a little buggy pending on how strong your connection but if there were any problems there would always be updates for it here and there. This is highly recommended checking out if you've been following either one or both in the series over the past years of our childhood.
