A little disappointed its no longer an RTS... but there's still hope yet.. Reminds me a lot of Deus Ex: HR, if prettier, if they can match Deus Ex in terms of gameplay, choices and plot and fixed the issues HR has this could be one hell of a game... I know starbreeze is more than capable. Fingers cross.

Looks good. I doubt that anyone that loved the original Syndicate will need to have this though. I definitely won't.

actually doesn't look too bad, im surprised, I was one of these has to be a RTS guys, but I will be buying this. Looks a little like deus ex 3, which was great, only this looks more fun. Lets hope it lives up to the name.

@xuix its called context, Predator said that this game was trying to ride off DXHR's success. DXHR came out 2 months ago.

@stan_boyd ummm deus ex was conceived back in 1998.

That looked a lot more interesting in action then what I'd gathered from reading about it. As for remaking it into a shooter; why not? That is, as long as it's a good game. I don't quite understand the anger some people display when an old series is remade in a new genre. Why should a series of games, to some people, stay forever locked into it's original genre?

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

@ice_predator yeah sure except this was already in the making before Deus Ex was released so how did they know Deus Ex was gonna be a huge success? Guess Starbreeze has some pretty powerful fortune tellers on their payroll.

@dude976 , i don't care, looks too desperate , it's like oh look , deus ex is having so much success with their sequel why don't we try make ourselves a moneymilking sequence of the first syndicate so that we can outpass their sequel and of course it's not gonna be as good as deus ex but wth , at least we make some people angry .. and some money .. yeah EA , we're awesome.

Kudos on the Evil Dead reference, you are lucky to live in an area where retailers carry PC games. The only places around here that sell video games at all are Walmart, Futureshop (which is where I used to get PC games but they are carrying less and less of them) and EB/Gamestop. As much as I would love an oldschool style syndicate game I know I wouldn't buy it because those types of games play terribly on the 360. I am looking forward to more info about this game however, if they can do for this game what they did with Fallout and Deus Ex then I might actually buy it.

max_1111
max_1111

@stan_boyd There is a local independent retailer where i live that has an entire wall dedicated to PC games and also two major chains that have several shelves for PC games... I dunno where you live, but it sounds like a crummy place to be... Last but not least i can count on a little more than half a hand the amount of times i've had to upgrade my graphics card (or anything PC related for that matter). Buy smart. Shop S-Mart.

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

@max_1111 what store do you find PC games at, cause I don't see them anywhere, I had to order Starcraft online and wait for it to come in the mail and that was a big title why didn't any of the stores in my area carry it. Oh yeah because they only have 1 shelf dedicated to PC games while they have about 30 dedicated to consoles. I went into Walmart the other day and stopped by the games section and they have 4 PC games, they have WoW, The Sims 3, The Sims Medieval and Diablo 2 Battle Chest or whatever it was called. Devs are in the business of making money, PC gaming has been on the decline for years and consoles are now their main source of money so they gotta make what plays good on consoles. We are getting less RTS games less TBS games and more shooters and action games. It sucks but what can ya do. Also since I am primarily a shooter player yes I did have to upgrade my graphics cards alot, I decided to stop when I couldn't run Crysis on my system because it was just getting ridiculous the amount of money I was spending just to game.

max_1111
max_1111

@stan_boyd First, I'm not sure if you're referring to me in your last comment, but for my own sake i'm going to add that it's -not- me thumbing down your posts... but i probably would have anyway... Secondly, pull your head out of your bum... I'm not pretending that PC games aren't the smaller martket share or anything like that... any halfwit can see that... However to say that PC gaming is "dying" is completely asinine. Furthermore, the amount of exclusive titles for ANY and EVERY platform, except maybe the Wii, has drastically declined... That's not a valid argument in any way, shape, or form. ...and don't friggin' bring EB, Gamestop or any of those clowns into this... i have never shopped at ANY of those places my entire life and have always managed to find the titles i want in smaller retail stores... I'd say if you have to rely on them for your gaming needs that "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!!!"... Last but not least this:
whereas my PC I was spending money every year or two upgrading to the newest graphics cards
This only perpetuates that idea that you have no idea what you are talking about... There is NO reason, especially not now, that you should ever have to be upgrading your PC that much...

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

yeah yeah give me thumbs down for telling the obvious truth, I never said it was a good thing, I am just stating the truth. If you look at any multiplatform game, it usually sells the least amount on PC, also if you look at the forums on this site the xbox360 forum for each multiplatform game usually has the most amount of people in it and alot of PC and PS3 people go into the xbox forums to chat because their own forum for the game is dead. I was a PC gamer back in the day, but it started getting too expensive for me, so I bought a 360 and have not had to upgrade anything since buying it whereas my PC I was spending money every year or two upgrading to the newest graphics cards and buying more ram just so I could play whatever new was coming out.

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

@max_1111 cause you can't handle the truth. I remember when I used to go into my local retail or local game store to pick up a new PC game, now I go there and the only titles you see are The Sims and World of Warcraft. Go to EB Games and they only have about 20 PC games on the shelf, go to you local stores and there are less PC Magazines then there used to be but more and more console mags are coming out. Developers are evolving based on sales trends, they have to in order to survive, why do you think we are seeing less and less PC exclusives, because they don't sell nearly as much as the console versions.

Fine if it's a FPS. Atleast the game is being developed by Starbreeze.

@stan_boyd
PC gamers are a slow dying breed
Sorry dude, i stopped caring about what you had to say right there.

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

Leeching off the popularity of an old franchise, how many modern console gamers do you think have even heard of Syndicate? Hell I forgot all about it til this trailer came out, they were great games for there time, but nowadays the money is in console games PC gamers are a slow dying breed, well at least legitimate PC gamers who actually pay for games, so its only natural they would make the game console friendly and a top down strategy game like the original Syndicates don't translate well to console controls, just look at the sega genesis version of Syndicate for example, the game was a great idea but the controls were awful.

max_1111
max_1111

@stan_boyd Yes. It does matter. For starters, if they didn't use the name of a classic franchise in some weak attempt to leech off the popularity of the older games none of this would even be an issue... Worse still, is that if you make some shoddy knock off game all you've done is given the Syndicate name a shot in the nuts.

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

@max_1111 does having a different name really matter that much, does a game get better or worse simply based on its name?

max_1111
max_1111

@Firebatco
To all of you who complain about this being a shooter and not a strategy game: guys, Starbreeze is NOT trying to remake or make a sequel to Syndicate (old strat game from the 90's).
Then why not give it a different name rather than try some cheap trick to garner the attention of the old fans? Therein lies the problem really.

it seems like it will have a lot of interesting features. ill keep my eyes on this; and see how it'll turn out...

stan_boyd
stan_boyd

@venom_raptor I am with you, there is alot of people already judging this game because its not like the original. But rather than making my judgement on that, I will think of it as its own game like I did with FO3. If I just concentrated on how different FO3 was to FO1,2 I would have probably hated it. But I just went in with an open mind and thought of it as a new IP and had fun with it.

Yet another strategy classic turned into a crappy FPS...LAME. Now Paradox's new game "Cartel", that really looks like a "Syndicate" remake.

Good trailer, hard to judge the game at this point of course, but it looks interesting, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it feels unique in it's own way.

looks like deus ex focused a lot more on action adventure than rpg, and to me that looks great i don't care if it looks kind of the same as long as it's a good solid game i will buy it, it's like titan quest looks like diablo. and also i don't care about a game's name as long as i like it and it is a good one. i think we all should look past appearances.

MiasmaRising

I feel as though every trailer has a dubstep song in it nowadays. Im not complaining, just throwing that out there.

Firebatco

To all of you who complain about this being a shooter and not a strategy game: guys, Starbreeze is NOT trying to remake or make a sequel to Syndicate (old strat game from the 90's). They're trying to make a cyberpunk SHOOTER in the same universe. And to you who ppl who thinks it's a Deus Ex ripoff: so what if these two games have similar themes and what not, it's only a bad thing if the end result isn't good. Besides, there are lots of good games out there, which share similar themes. So, what everyone should do, is disregard the Syndicate label, and look at this game just as a modern cyberpunk shooter, and THEN judge. Personally, i think it looks kick-ass, even more than Deus Ex (first impression at least)

LEAVE SYNDICATE ALONE! this is not syndicate. it is another generic sci-fi fps that could be good if it tries hard enough. But stripping the name and heritage from Syndicate makes this a title I will be avoiding!
